The BEST! This is a family-owned business that has handled many of the most demanding moves in the Napa area for decades. Tyson Holmes, who grew up in this business, and his staff deliver the kind of professional, personal service you just won't find anywhere else. On top of that, they provide accurate estimates you can actually rely on. We researched this carefully and just completed our second move with them, this one back to Southern California. Helen coordinates things in the office and will help make sure your move goes smoothly from start to finish.

These guys are THE BEST!! They moved my stuff from three locations to one with grace and professionalism. Great attitudes all around, even when I changed my mind about where I wanted things to go.They move the grand pianos for the Music in the Vineyards summer festival every year, so I knew that they would take good care of my baby. They put her together and good-naturedly indulged me while I asked them to move it an inch at a time to get it "just right".Anna L.

I just used Holmes for a local Napa move and cannot say enough good things. From the quote to the actual move day, everyone I interacted with was a professional through and through. They responded almost immediately to any questions I had, and it was lovely to speak to the same person each time I called! This is a family-run business who cares about their name and their services. Alex and his crew showed up on time for my move and were quick to put any anxieties I had about the move to rest. Pricing was transparent and actually came in less than my quote. It's such a rare delight to find a company still governed by integrity, kindness, and a desire or provide quality service. I will be using Holmes for any future moves I make in the Napa area. Truly a top-notch, professional experience.

We moved to a neighboring city on a short timeline and Holmes Van & Storage was amazing at making everything happen on our timeline. We did a virtual (live video) walk through of everything and received a thorough estimate. And even when we had some unexpected hiccups with the timing of work in the new house, Tyson Holmes was incredibly helpful in talking through some options, being mindful of our budget. Throughout the entire process - estimate, planning, packing (we had them pack our most breakable and important items), disassembling furniture, putting it back together and the entire move - Tyson and his crew were SO helpful, kind, processional, and thorough! It was the easiest and least stressful move we’ve ever done. And not a single scratch on our freshly painted walls, baseboards, bannister, doors in our new house (or the old house!). We highly recommend Holmes Van & Storage.

This crew was so awesome! A move that I as very sentimental and tricky to navigate for my family, and they made the whole process seamless and very fast. Alex in particular has a special gift for this industry, and a professional approach that I appreciated so much. I would certainly recommend them!

We have just completed our move. The crew that worked with us was knowledgeable, patient and worked themselves hard to pack our things. They were respectful and had a wonderfully positive attitude towards the, often difficult, amount of stuff my brother owns. I heartily recommend them for any moving job you may have.

I had been the most loyal Holmes customer. I used Holmes to move locally and than later hired Holmes to move my belongings to their storage facility for an extended period of time. Holmes was not the cheapest alternative but I falsely believed, as a local family company, I could expect some level of loyalty and fairness. Mr. Holmes senior was my original salesperson and had lost his wife. It tugged at my heart strings I have to admit. Katherine, my second salesperson. Both seemed caring, but where did these people go when I needed them! When all was said and done I probably gave Holmes almost $20,000.00! I paid their price, paid on time, and excepted Holmes just-ok moving and service, figuring it was the norm. When I moved my things out of Holmes storage and to another state, Holmes offered me a deal with Steven's Moving. The price was very high, Holmes probably taking a cut. Holmes pushed for Steven's but I ended up choosing Chipman Relocation & Logistics in Fairfield. Holmes penalized me at every turn with extra labor costs, odd fees and restricted access. Even the smallest need had a price. Also in hindsight, prices were set based on weight, my belongings weighed on a scale belonging to Holmes. Choosing Chipman was the best choice I could have made! Chipman showed me what a moving company should be! I cannot fully express what a gem my Chipman salesperson John was. His price was competitive, his expertise supportive, his help available almost 24/7. He even arranged a second pick-up in Sacramento to gather my additional things at a very, very small price. In the office, Paulette was professional, accessible, and stayed on top of every detail. But my story with Holmes was not over. There were issues; carpet moths and larva in wool rugs that were stored in the Holmes facility, broken furniture, aged dents in leather, missing things. The Chipman movers that delivered my belongings had witnessed some of the damage. For example an antique dresser on legs, had been dragged across the floor by Holmes instead of being lifted, breaking off the leg. When I went back to Holmes they had an excuse for everything and would not take responsibility for anything!!! I spent hours photographing, documenting, speaking to various Holmes employees to no avail. I ended up receiving a check for $20. Keep in mind I had given Holmes almost $20,000.00 over the course of our relationship! Chipman on the other hand, gave me money back for transportation costs, as the load was lighter than had been estimated. I didn't even need to ask! I had the same insurance with Chipman that I had with Holmes but Chipman PAID, quickly and effortless without issue! I cannot go back and change the past but you can learn from my costly mistake. Holmes is a money-grabbing, unethical, dishonest, wolf in sheep's clothing. Don't be fooled by the sweet family angle, they will take your money and run!

Estimator spent 3-4 hours going through our home and promised to have a number to me by the end of the day. A week later, after several emails/calls, we finally received the estimate for our small move (no furnishings). On our scheduled day most items were packed and boxed as promised (items were left behind and had to be shipped separately) and transported to Steven's warehouse. The crew was pleasant and quick. THEN we received the final bill - we were charged 20+% more then the estimate, even though we decided to personally transport 15 boxes of personal items that were factored into the original estimate. When I followed up with the Tyson I was told it is outlined in (small/fine print) our contract that they can 'legally' charge up to 110% over the estimate. Felt unfair and a bit like a scam.

New too moving... and even that is to a different state...I spoke with Tracy to get an idea of what really is involved in moving out of state...She was great with general information and based upon the size of my condo that she would need send out an estimator for the transport of my goods. He arrived early, walk through and end of the day I had an estimate for the shipping of my "stuff." I called and spoke with Helen and she suggested to use a long haul company to the location in another state and mailed me the information the next day. Overall experience was really great! Professional, helpful, and very friendly. Highly recommend.

We hired Holmes to move our large outdoor kitchen appliances to our pool area. Tyson & his crew were extremely professional, courteous, on time, and very careful with our appliances. The invoice was exactly what was quoted. I'd use them again and would highly recommend them.

Holmes was great. Robert Avila was in charge. They did an awesome job protecting my antique furniture. They got done in half the time estimated, so it cost me half as much. Very happy! I would highly recommend them

I was so impressed with Holmes Moving Company! They were a breeze to book with over the phone, which I was doing rather last minute. The company even took the initiative to research the home I was moving out of and the new home on the real estate websites, so they had a good idea of what items they would be moving and into which rooms. The movers themselves were very prompt and started working immediately. They took such great care to move our items and safeguard them and were very diligent with pointing out existing damage to us. Our moving team had us moved into the new home with time to spare! The price was right too and they were the only company I contacted they didn't "start the meter" until they arrived at my house, other company's were charging from the time they left their office. I would recommend Holmes Moving to everyone!
