I always find what I need here & the store is nice & clean. I knocked of a star because the last few of times I've shopped at this location the staff working the register & at the deli haven't been the friendliest; the customer service could definitely improve.

Lucky in Sonoma has a great staff. They have a good selection and good discounts. The place looks clean and organized.

Fried chicken is good and sometimes good deals for frozen shrimp. Unimpressive beer and wine selection unless you like IPA, which fills half their coolers. Meat dept is so-so. They used to have great fresh rolls in the bakery at 3 for a dollar. Now it's suddenly 2 for a dollar and they are still the same size, so a whopping 34% increase in one swoop - what staple goes up that much all at once? Crazy. I stopped shopping here as a result of that. They are probably doing that across the store. Better off at Safeway or Sonoma Market if you don't mind crowds and can afford it.

Don't give many one star reviews to a grocery store but this one got it. So I'm from out of state and buy two items. I want to save time so I go to the self service register. Ring my two items up then it asks me how many bags I have.Apparently in ass backwards California they charge you ten cents per bag???I guess I could have typed in zero but my mistake was in selecting "one." Then I notice there aren't any bags to get at self check out...at not one if the four check out registers.WTF???So I see a clerk at the counter that is supposed to be assisting self check out. I go to him and say " so I'm being charged ten cents for a bag you don't have?"He says; "Oh, they're over there," and points to the actual manned register next to us. So who gets the bag? The customer or the actual employee???I DO!!!!!So "I" walk over to get the bag that's supposed to be at the self check out register anyways, walk back, pick up my two items, put them in my bag and the stupid machine now says it can't verify the number of bags I have and to wait for a "customer service representative."That's the guy who FAILED to do his job in the first place and...wait for it...is now left the stand and went into an office!!!The ONLY visible employee is at the full service register. After waiting 2 minutes with zero help I grab my stupid ten cent bag and two items and walk over the full service register saying to the female clerk, "your self service register doesn't like me. I'm from out of state and it keeps saying I have more than one bag."Now by this time the original guy has now stepped out of his office, goes to the register I was at, clears the machine of my purchase but then picks up a container of potato salad that was probably left there 2 hours ago and says; "Is this yours?"I say no, then the female clerk checking me out says; "I thought that was yours?"WTF!!!!!!!!I simply want to pay for the TWO items I have the ridiculous ten cent bag I'm FORCED to pay for and get out. My DNA isn't anywhere on that potato salad container that now probably has Salmonella in it and she thinks it's mine???Such a cute store but the customer service is in the shitter...

Giving this store one star is generous! What happened to "3 is a crowd" motto? My son shopped today since I was out of town. He had a cart full and there were 2 checkers open and 12 & 10 people in each line. YES 12 & 10.He saw the store manager come out of their office hoping he'd open another line, but he just hung out and chatted with people. My son finally moved to the self check where there was a line as well, but not as long.He just happened to have a bottle of wine, which he knew wasn't ok, but at least he'd get some help. The manager (the tall silver haired man) came and rudely said he couldn't check out and started spewing the CA State Law.He told him to go back and get in the now longer check out line.My son took the wine, handed it to him and told him to go put it back on the shelf! No more Lucky's shopping for this family after decades of hit and miss trouble with management!Safeway and Sonoma Market only!

Being that this was a small town grocery store I did expect better. Whenever I arrived at this location it was on the heels of literally walking out of another grocery store in Sonoma pretty much a last ditch effort at attempting to feed myself before setting off to further destinations. The deli department was moderately painless. The employee who helped me wasn't the friendliest in the world but I was willing to overlook it. That was until I went to the cashier to pay at the front of the store. I had grabbed a few more items before paying and noticed as I was done getting "rung up" that I left my card outside and dashed outside to grab it. Once I returned with the public benefits card the entire mood shifted. I am not one to make a big deal out of things on the spot but the woman decided to try and feed me a story about how I need to pay for bags despite the fact I had to embarrass myself by waiving the food stamp card in the air...like I didn't care.... Again $0.20 cents is $0.20 cents right? I did some quick maths in my head while attempting to explain the bags should of been free. $.20 multiply that by roughly what a 1000 customers a day? That's $200 now multiply that by 365 days a year that's a cool even $73,000. Where pray tell is that money going if it shouldn't of been charged to begin with? Honestly I try and avoid getting bags whenever possible to lower my own carbon footprint but that day I had too much to carry on the way out. Overall this place is NOT a great place to go if you're of African decent. I would definitely avoid this place. There's a reason why Lucky's is nearly out of business and traditionally lets be honest Sonoma isn't the most welcoming of places. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. But always do your own research!

I guess Lucky never recovered from the corporate violence it suffered in the 90's, being changed to Albertsons and then back to Lucky, and then divided into Lucky and Food Maxx, and whatever else they did to it. It has better prices than Safeway, generally, but otherwise it's not much different. This one has some pleasant staff, a massive liquor section, no edible bread, for the most part, and their produce is usually fairly limited. Their meat supply is spotty, and like most supermarkets, they don't usually sell economical cuts of meat: I can't get bones for soup or shank for stew, or a mess of chicken backs for stock. But my primary beef with this store is the way it smells. That "deli" smells like the aftermath of a dumpster fire.

If I could give Erika 0 stars for customer service that would be generous!!! No greeting, walked away while I stood there and didn't say she'd be right back to help, grabbed my things to go to self checkout as she finally walked back up, never acknowledged her customer, when I handed her the money she stood there staring at it and wouldn't grab it unless I leaned over to practically put it in her shirt, never said one single word during transaction. RUDE is an understatement!!! You must be desperate for employees to keep her at the front of your store to deal with customers! Safeway will be my forever choice now! This isn't the 1st time I've had rude checkers who argue in front of the customers with each other and made us all feel uncomfortable while they had a work dispute. The old Luckys staff was great!

Literally the absolute worst store in town. Why anyone would ever go here is inexplicable, everyone in here is an absolute moron and totally incompetent. I have no idea how this store is still in business it needs to move to some ghetto somewhere worthless a** store.

I love Luckys but not this one! Rude checkers! They don't even bag your groceries? 2nd time I've been there because it's on my way home from work. Both times were bad. Very expensive! Go to Safeway.

For the last few weeks, the Muzak has been LOUD country and western music. Every day all the time. I complained to a couple of long time employees and they hated it to, but could not do anything about it. Evidently they got a new sat music provider. I complained to headquarters in Modesto and they said they would look into it. At least turn it down I asked. On Saturday May 15, at about 8 pm I went shopping. The music was just as loud. I gritted my teeth and did my shopping only to find a line with 15 customers, two overworked checkers and NO SELF CHECKOUT. I put all the items back and went to Safeway 1 mile away. I did my shopping and had NO wait at self checkout. $40 to Safeway instead of Luckys. Safeway from now on. I will keep my receipts for 6 months and send to Luckys headquarters in Modesto, to show the real cost of that stores mismanagement.

Yesterday I went to Lucky Grocery Store in Sonoma Ca to take advantage of their Flash Sale on Bacon $2.99 a lb. the coupon said limit of 4 but where they were stocked the Bacon was tagged at $5.99 a lb. so I picked 4 and would ask at register since their was no one around to ask, then went to cheese and looked for the tag for Sunny Side Farms 8 oz cheese...coupon said select varieties but didn't list a limit...so no tags to show 3 for $5 so once again I chose 6 and would ask at register....when I got to the register I asked her to check if these were the ones that were 3 for $5 and separated them into 2 piles of 3....I explained to Delores there were no tags out that showed the price or limit...she didn't seem to care if there were tags out or not...she started to ring up the cheeses and assured me I was getting the sale price of $1.66 an item on all of them. I questioned her twice about it and she acted annoyed I was checking and kept saying yes you are getting the discount. She showed me 3 on the receipt that discounted so I took her word for it that the other 3 were discounted as well. I got home and checked my receipt again like I always do and low and behold only 3 of the 6 I bought were discounted. I was pissed!!! I grabbed the 3 cheeses and my receipt and headed back to the store in the rain. I get there and no one was at the register for at least 5 minutes....then a guy comes and I show him the receipt that I didn't get the sale price on the cheeses and he looked confused so he called Delores the one who rang them up over and he showed her the receipt and she raised her voice at me and said YOU GOT THE DISCOUNT!! I said look at the receipt it only discounted 3 of them...she still insisted in front of everyone that I got it and had me come over to another register and told me she could only give me $5 back not the $11.77 that I was charged and I told her that's rediculous...my receipt shows I was charged full price $3.85 a piece. She insisted she would not give me the discount or refund....so I asked to see a manager....by this time I was quite flustered....so Hannah a substitute Manager for that day after much confusion decided to check if there was as a limit on how many I could get...I explained there were no tags out when I came a half hour ago and thats why I asked at the register....in the meantime Delores gives me a refund of $11.77 back on my card and Hannah comes back and says there was a limit of 3 and that's why the other ones weren't discounted. I again reiterated there were no tags and she responded with ...there were tags out...and I said there were no tags out when I was was there but she acted like she didn't believe me. I left feeling so upset by the way a regular paying customer was treated. First of all the store opened at 6am and I got there at 8:15 am and there were no tags out about the Flash Sale they had been promoting for a week!! Why no tags??? All of this could have been avoided and why aren't the checkers informed of limits on the items on sale??? The coupon didn't even specify the limits on the cheese but it did on the Bacon. And when I showed Delores the receipt she still insisted that I got the discount even though my receipt clearly showed I didn't and I had to call a manager over to help clear up the matter. In my opinion they need to do customer service training for their staff to treat the customer with respect and not argue with the customer when the receipt clearly shows I didn't get the discount....and....they should oversee the people that are in charge of putting the sale tags out before the store opens so when customers come in early to avoid a lot of people they can see the prices and the limits and not have to ask at the register because the checkers are uninformed about prices and limits....perhaps they could have a store meeting before opening to make sure staff is aware of the sale prices and limits to avoid all this confusion and rudeness to their customers. That being said i will no longer be using this Lucky sto

Great customer service experience, and everything is always well stocked. Saw a guy stocking stuff and he knocked a couple loaves of bread on the floor and didn't pick them up...? Okay dude. Regardless it's a solid Lucky's location.

Dirty, understaffed, questionable meat & seafood, in-store baked goods awful, poor quality store brand products. Been shopping here occasionally for 20 years, because it is conveniently close to my home. I only buy name-brand, securely packaged items because the store is so dirty. For all of you with Chase bank cards ... here was my recent experience. I was in a hurry so ran in to buy a few things. Went through the self-check lane. Long lines at the other registers. In the course of ringing up items, I needed to ask the self-check clerk to reset the machine several times because it kept freezing. I said I would move to another machine bc that one seemed to be having issues. The clerk said "No, try again ... it's not the machine", and rolled her eyes with disgust. Put my Chase debit card in to pay and was declined. Tried my Chase credit card and was declined. I knew I had plenty in my bank account, and owed nothing on my credit card. The clerk says "I need to tell the manager." I say "I think your system is acting up". Clerk says "No it's not" and proceeds to yell across three checking lanes to the manager "Her card declined!!!" as if I had just been caught pilfering 50 filet mignons in my pant legs. The manager yells at me to come to her check-out lane and she'll ring up my items. By this time I wanted to abandon my pitiful items and go somewhere else but did as she said. Same thing ... Chase cards declined. The manager yells across three lanes to the self-check clerk: "Her cards declined again." Meaningful looks of disgust between the manager and the clerk. Left my items and left the store. Immediately went to the downtown Chase bank, half in a panic, thinking someone had cleaned out my account and charged my credit card to the limit. (This actually happened to me once at another bank.) Explained all to the bank teller who checked my accounts, then chuckled and said "Nothing is wrong with your cards or your accounts ... we have a lot of customers who have had the same problem at Lucky's. It happens all the time. Our cards are never declined at Safeway. It's something wrong with Lucky's system." Guess where I went next. Guess where I am never shopping again.
