My husband and I recently moved to Amherst and I was looking for a hair stylist. Upon reading the reviews I decided to book an appointment with Patty. I walked in a hot mess but walked out feeling wonderful. Excellent service and Patty is wonderful! Love my color and cut and no more wild brows. I will definitely be back and feel so relieved to have found a professional stylist.

AWFUL experience. Nearly 40 minutes spent cutting my son's hair and she never even made it to the front before I had to interrupt and stop her from continuing to mess his hair up even more

Frequented this location many times over the years. I am very disappointed with the ongoing level of service and professionalism of the staff. Gave them another chance after frying my hair with highlights/lowlights, which I had done at this location many, many times, because I understand mistakes happen. After returning, services were received for myself and child. The stylist refused to accept the Cost Cutters Coupon, charged me for incorrect services, and didn't discount the 50% for product purchase, even when I was advised it had already been taken off. My stylist also argued with me about a cut that I have been getting for years and refused to trim my hair in the way that I preferred, leaving me with many split ends still. The poor customer service and lack of knowledge about different hair textures in a salon is not acceptable. Do better.

I don't know why I bothered giving this business a second chance.While my experience with the stylist Sylvia (on 12/27/23) was fantastic, my experience with who I’m assuming is the head stylist/ manager (whose name I failed to acquire, though her face is plastered all over the “Cost Cutters Amherst” Facebook page) was less than pleasant.In fact, she was unprofessional and rude the moment I walked into the establishment.When I arrived around 1:45 pm, only two people were ahead of me, and they were already being waited on.After being ignored for a few minutes, I was reluctantly approached by the aforementioned presumed head stylist/manager, who bluntly asked what I wanted.She proceeded to look at me as though I were speaking in tongues when I requested a haircut.It was evident that (for whatever reason) she wanted to get rid of me because, after a moment's hesitation, she warned there would be a long wait. I said this was fine, and she reluctantly entered me into the system.(In hindsight, I was probably taking precious time away from her taking unflattering selfies of herself for their Facebook page.)Approximately five minutes passed before Sylvia came over to get me (so much for that long wait.)After getting a swift and professional haircut from Sylvia, there was some confusion at the cash register. I selected that I wanted the receipt sent to my email.A prompt popped up asking for my email address; I entered it.Another prompt asked for my phone number; I thought this was odd, but I entered it.In short, somehow, I started another transaction and didn't know it.The presumed head stylist/manager stormed over, proceeded to talk down to me like a child, threatened to charge me for a second haircut, and then had the nerve to suggest I was wasting her time.Mind you, no customers were waiting (and now I see why!)Classes in basic customer service is my recommendation, if not completely new management.
