Ray Pentergast is highway director who has staff pick up dead animals. Seth worked for highway but became an expert animal shelter person with little to no training. He was told by Pentergast to collect lost and injured cats and then two days later put them back outside The woman who works there now is overwhelmed but, cares as much as her time allows with limited hours and one staff member for the entire town? She needs a bit of help the problem is they don’t accept help easily. He Pentergast aka the man who has worked there for state to long promotes animal abuse and he collects a hefty paycheck and sleeps well unlike the animals he gets paid to oversee. Pentergast encourages neglect and abuse period and has a sense of governmental entitlement. Heartless person. See the review from Ashley below.

I couldn't be happier, my cat was stuck in a tree and I guess fire departments don't rescue cats from trees anymore and recommend animal control in north Smithfield. I called the lady explained my situation with my cat being stuck in a tree for hours and the lady came right out, used a lady in my yard and climbed up and got her. I'm so thankful to the lady at animal control. My cat Trixie sure is happy being back in the house. Thank you so much ❤️❤️

I've needed the assistance of ns animal shelter 2 times in the past years, Scott was always great to deal with and Seth is carrying on with his level of diligence to the position.

My mother found her neighbors cat neglected, matted and injured Friday night. She took him in and fed him gave him food and shelter overnight and brought him to animal control Saturday. Seth from animal control said he would get this cat medical attention AND NEVER DID! He returned the cat the the owners who he personally knows without any medical attention! This cat is still injured and needs to be taken immediately! This cat WILL NOT survive much longer without medical intervention!

I adopted this sweetheart 3 years ago. She’s very vocal and such a goofy cat. I enjoy her so very much. Thank you!

Had to use the NS Animal Control a few times over the course of the years and they've always been helpful and willing to make the trip to the house to at least have a look if not be able to actually resolve. In the latter case they've always been able to recommend viable solutions or good and reliable contractors to lend a hand.
