It's never easy saying goodbye to a family member some call pets. The Staff and Dr. Harrell handled the situation very professionally and compassionately. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend their care and services.

My pup has been here three times already in the short time we have had him. Even though I can't enter the clinic due to the pandemic, I feel my dog is getting exceptional care. The vet is very thorough when explaining what is going on and treatment options and recommendations. The staff member remembered my pup which was also nice. I like that my dog is really excited to be there instead of terrified, that tells me they are treating him right. They handle him well each time I have to hand him over (he is a high energy big dog), this I find comforting. They offer military discounts for their services and on pet products such as flea control. They also can verify prescriptions if you choose to purchase flea control or any other prescription for your pet at a different place such as 1800 Petmeds. The parking lot is very small and is directly across the street from a cemetery. At this time, they ask for you to call when you arrive to your appointment and wait for your pet in your vehicle until the appointment is over. They call you when your pet is finished, go over what was done and they take your payment over the phone before bringing your pet out. I love this vets office and will be returning. Oh, and they offer the k-9 influenza vaccine in case anyone needs it (its a two series vaccine).

I love going here. My dog gets great care and they also reward them with treats for good behavior. The office is super clean and they really look out for your pet's best interests. They are friendly and treat your pet like family. The vet actually explains and educates about your pet. I highly recommend VCA!

My dog, Princeton, had been suffering from vomiting and diarrhea for almost 4 days. Thinking of the severity of the diarrhea and vomiting, I finally decide to the bring him to the vet when I found blood on his feces. Since it was a short notice, I've been having a hard time finding a vet that will see him for a same day appointment. Luckily, Portsmouth Animal Hospital are able to set up an appointment on that same day. Princeton was seen by Dr. Smith and he was very informative and was very informative. He preferred to do things conservatively first before we try xrays and expensive tests. I really appreciated that because he is also thinking of how treatments can get expensive for pet parents. He and his assistant was very gentle to Princeton. Although Princeton was very scared and snappy (probably because of his pain), they are very understanding and they tried to soothe him. Princeton and I had a great experience at Portsmouth Animal Hospital. I am finally glad that there's a vet close by that understands the sense of urgency and will glad take an appointment on short notice.
