I love the idea of the place, but I wasn't impressed. I say the eggs were out of a bag or carton, and not seasoned at all. The gravy seemed to be out of a bag as well. Fruit was canned fruit. The bacon was my favorite thing there but the rind was super hard, almost as hard as hog jowl. My husband said the omelet from the omelet station was good though. They do offer a menu, so you could at least get real eggs. The service was good and people were pleasant.

Stopped in for breakfast. Cute little diner and friendly staff. Didn't know what we were getting into...waitress said they have a breakfast buffet with omelets to order. Asked to order off the menu, but not much on the menu. Wanted eggs benedict...so, had the breakfast buffet. The BEST thing on the buffet was the omelets. The guy cooking them did a great job! Fresh items and hot off the grill. The items on the buffet were cold at best, even though under heat lamps...like I say, the omelet was the BEST thing on the buffet...but not worth the price!

Bring your own silverware. They limit you to a fork. Apparently customers were throwing the silverware away. Food was very good. The guy making the omelets does a fantastic job. Waitress was good. Recommend they go to plastic silverware.

Not sure what the people who put in bad reviews were expecting. This is a classic, older southern deli. We went for breakfast and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and the people were friendly. We will definitely be back.

Me and wife went for the buffet and mostly positive reviews. The food was just OK. The place was dirty top to bottom and front to back. It is not possible for this place to be that dirty just from that day.

Look, I’m all for a good dive, but dove does not have to equate dirty. And this place is dirty. The food isn’t bad. Nothing fancy, pretty good, but expect sticky tables, dirty floors, and lukewarm service. It seems like a local place, which I’m usually all for, but this is a rough bunch. Don’t expect warm and hospitable. Also, not a big deal, but may matter to some, they serve no alcohol, so there will be no mimosa or Bloody Mary for your beach vacation breakfast.

Barbara I don’t know what you’re talking about. We just spent 7 days in GS, ate at Hazels every morning and NEVER had greasy good and the gravy has tons of sausage in it! With that said…. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every morning at Hazels! The people are the friendliest ever and then there’s Mack, what a guy!!!!! He even scaled our omelets down because we couldn’t eat all of it and enjoy the breakfast bar as well! We will make this our first stop next trip down to GS . I’m sure all of them will remember us because they take the time to get to know you!

A local friend brought us here for breakfast after a conversation about breakfast food not being so great! THEY ARE THE BREAKFAST HEADQUARTERS here at Hazels!!! It’s an amazing breakfast buffet with a fresh omelette making guy !!! This is a MUST go to!!!!

The restaurant is very dirty. Restrooms, kitchen. All very dirty. Food was just ok. Very disappointed. I do not understand the good reviews on here.

Went to Hazel's Nook after Mass, there were several people ahead of us, but the wait was not long. we were seated and waited on immediately. We chose to order off the menu and had the big country breakfast. Portions generous. Service excellent. We highly recommend Hazel's Nook

We had a great breakfast here! It is a buffet, but it has plenty of options from biscuits and gravy to an omelette station. There appeared to be a way to order from a menu too, but we didn't see a menu. Everything on the buffet was delicious. The restaurant is busy and very crowded, but the food is great.

Cool place but really greasy food. I had to blot my eggs and hash browns to sop up some of the grease. The toast was good. They have a self serve all you can eat buffet that looked good, but I didn't order that. One of our party ordered an omelet from the omelet bar that she says was really good. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy is pretty bad. It has no sausage in it, or any other meat and I think it was out of a bag. It had small lumps of flour in it. Tasted awful. Lots of parking and easy to get to.

I stopped in to Hazel's when I was in Gulf Shores promoting my rental business. I had passed a hardware store on the east side of 59 and was going to turn around and go talk to them when I saw Hazel's and realized I hadn't eaten anything all day. I'm always quick to ask for help so I asked if I needed to seat myself and if I needed to pay before getting the buffet. Just so you know you can sit wherever you would like and you eat before you pay. They have breakfast and lunch options on the buffet. I love how quaint this place is it's pretty small but not overcrowded. It's been around for many many years and they have definitely kept it simple. No sense in changing this place if it ain't broke don't fix it. The food was great. I had their baked chicken, it was either baked or roasted? I also had rice and gravy, corn, and peach cobbler. Only thing I would change about my experience would be if they had some good yeast rolls. I love bread!
