The prices are always higher at Shell but the stores and the restrooms are usually clean and the service is good.

Your typical Shell station. Decent prices - comparable to other chain stations. It's located in a good place, but they could have designed the entrance and exits better. Getting out of that place during busy times can take forever, and you can scrape your car easily. Has plenty of parking, and a good selection of beverages and snacks inside. I'd stop here again.

After changing owners... all I can say is this place has rude staff, customer service is completely horrible, and they steal shame.

It's fine, really. I mean, this is a Shell station like many others. Things I will comment on are the parking pad, the traffic situation, the staff and the prices. First, the parking situation. There is plenty, but the way in and out of it is treacherous. If you have a low-slung car, take it slow and go at an angle because it is pretty steep in places. Second, the traffic. As other yelpers have stated, this place is virtually impossible to get out of onto South shades Crest toward Helena or in from the same direction. Coming in and out on 150 is much easier, but I seldom see people going that direction from the station. Third, the service. I have always had a good experience with the attendants here. They are courteous and efficient. They deal with difficult customers with patience, but I wish they could open another line when that situation arises. Last but not least, the pricing. In short, this is in Hoover, so it is higher than the prices at similar places in Bessemer or McCalla, but still not outrageous. Worth it for the convenience if you live on this side of town.

Stay away. This entire place is nasty. Not saying the bathroom has never been cleaned. But it does look (& smell) like it hasn't been cleaned in my lifetime. Seriously, it's bad. Don't eat here.

Easy access if you are trying to get at them from Shades Crest and easy to leave if you are heading towards 459. If you are trying to do anything else this is not a convenient location. Proximity to lights and double yellow lines literally everywhere make navigating any other turn out of this place virtually impossible, especially in the morning and evening during work/school traffic. As for the actual gas station it is pretty standard Shell station. Pumping gas you will have to hold the trigger as there isn't a latch to hold it pumping. Gas is typically a few cents more a gallon here. Convenience store is shared with a Sneaky Pete's. Have never tried Sneaky Pete's, but it is a very popular place in the mornings as there are cars parked everywhere to get their breakfast. The store has standard gas station store supplies. Snacks (chips, candy, nuts, etc) and drinks (soda, tea, juice, sports drinks, energy drinks, beer etc). Prices are reasonable and in line with other gas station stores.
