We ate dinner here last week and really enjoyed it. It was a lovely evening and having seen the nice patio out back from our hotel room, we asked if we could eat outside. We were surprised to hear the patio was closed because it was too hot (we're from Canada, so didn't see that coming!) :) We must have sounded disappointed, because the staff took the trouble to clean off and set up a table to serve us outside, where we enjoyed a great dinner. The service was so friendly and attentive that we almost felt like we were at someone's private home! The food was authentic Mexican, was fresh, super tasty and reasonably priced. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the Tempe/Mill Ave area.

Permanently closed as of August 15, 2019. BUT you can find all the same dishes at Mr. Pancho (owned by the cook from Restaurant Mexico) at 1040 E. Main in Mesa, just West of Stapley. The menu is like you remember! Even the same tables and chairs!

My family is always happy when we make it down to Tempe, from Peoria, just for Restaurant Mexico. My boyfriend and I met up here for a date and I've loved it ever since. The salsa and chips are always great. I've only gotten the bean soup, bean and cheese burrito enchilada style and cheese enchiladas with green sauce. We were pretty sad to hear of the closing but we made sure we got in there before we couldn't get their food anymore. On 9/13/19 I did get a text that they just opened up their new location at 1040 E Main St. Mesa AZ 85203. All 4 of us were so excited that the food we love is back and made sure to get in there the next day. It is just as we remember with some new stuff added to the menu. If you do go, please be patient and remember they're starting from scratch at a new location and they are only taking cash right now and do not have their soda machine hooked up yet. It was pretty busy when we came in. We will definitely be making that extra 10 mile drive out to Mesa for Mr. Pancho Mexican Food.

Restaurant Mexico lives on at Mr. Pancho. The old cook started a new restaurant in Mesa and brought with him waitresses Angie & Erica! We had our usual number 3 - pictured - and it is exactly as it was before. Just opened. It is a small place. Check it out at 1040 E Main in Mesa.

Awful. I don't care if they have been here forever. I've eaten at each location and was never impressed. Cheap ingredients, poorly prepared, sketchy service, boring room, dull menu. Salsa is terrible. Food often cold. Meat old and chewy. Apparently closing. Good.

This place is amazing. It is jalisco style mexican food and it's authentic mexican food. My dad is from jalisco and he says it reminds him of his mom's cooking. The food is amazing and the service is wonderful as well. One of the best Mexican food places in Arizona. We come multiple times a month to eat here

I've been enjoying RM for most of my adult life. I remember going there the first time in 1987. I've lived in five different states since then, and I've enjoyed a ton of superb Mexican food. RM is in my top 3. I've always ordered the same thing I ate way back then and it has tasted exactly the same every single time. Perfect.

Does anyone know if Restaurant Mexico is still open? Phone goes directly to voicemail which is full.

Restaurant Mexico was the first place I ate after moving to Tempe. They were an immediate favorite for me and I have enjoyed their establishment at three different locations through the years.

The servers there were very nice and attentive, but the food was less than pleasing. Maybe it was the time we showed up it was late about an hour before closing, and maybe they were ready to wrap up and go home. The beef tacos we ordered were very greasy the French fries were soggy and greasy just wasn't good. We will not be returning to this place gave the 2 stars for the food not the service

Simple restaurant with decent Mexican food and friendly service. Had a taco salad with chicken, tasted very good.

Came here twice with friends while I was at a conference nearby. Good chips and salsa to start. I enjoyed the food I had each time, particularly the tacos. My friends felt the same. The place has been there for 30? plus years so they must be doing something right.. Service is friendly and informal. Expect you can get the food as spicy as you want, if you ask.. It's a basic restaurant, not fancy, but the food is good. Will certainly come back.

A casual dining experience and atmosphere. Prices were reasonable overall. The food was not authentic Mexican food but it was tasty and a little on the spicy side (if you like your food that way). The waitress we had to deal with was a little strange and seemed aloof, rather than friendly while we were there. It kind of felt like she had better things to do than serve tables. When we asked if the food was spicy or hot she replied "spicy is all relative, I eat fire so I guess it's not". This is one of the strangest responses I have ever had to that question (usually you will hear something alone the lines of.... it is like medium Salsa hot) and I eat at a lot of Mexican food restaurants when I travel. Anyway, overall not too bad.
