Great experience past 2 times I have been here. I have a Nissan which is a new car for me. I switched from a German made car and when I had my BMW I went to a mechanic I trusted completely so making a switch to a new shop was scary for me. Had bad experiences in the past. A good friend of mine takes his car to Primarily Japanese and recommended them to me. I have been there 2 times now, first time just an oil change but 2nd time needed new battery, control arm, and some other things. I was very pleased with the work they performed and the service I received.Services: Battery

Took my car to this shop to have balll joints inspected. They did a full inspection at a fair price and gave an estimate. Explained the estimate details clearly and the urgency of each line item. Very impressed with information and No pressuring.Did not have any service performed as of yet but plan to.

Perry took me in on the same day. They were able to diagnose my check engine light and perform additional maintenance pieces. It was in and out very quick, and the car is running great!Services: General repairs & maintenance

The mechanics are very knowledgeable and most importantly, VERY HONEST! They don’t find things wrong, and even suggest not fixing something until it’s truly needed, like the boot on my steering that is cut, but not leaking grease. I trust them totally to do a great repair at a fair price!Service: Auto maintenance

I heard this was a great shop with quality mechanics and excellent service, so I took my son's car there. wow, what a great experience. everyone I dealt with was good. Rick, the main mechanic, explained everything that was going on so that I understand what was wrong, what my options were and he clearly is an experienced and honest mechanic. They clearly do things the right way here which is not something you find much these days. so happy to find a shop where I can feel confident that they're doing quality work. And, he got me in to fix a check engine issue within a week! fantastic.

Primarily Japanese Auto Service is my go-to mechanics here in Tucson. Since arriving in town 3 years ago the team there has been excellent alway going above and beyond making sure our 2014 CR-V runs smoothly.Recently this Thanksgiving week we had a run in with some desert rodents that chewed up the electrical and I know it was a going to be a tough week to get the car repaired as they were backlogged about 2 weeks but Perry was great, simply told me to have it brought it and if they could they’d try to get it. Low and behold less then 48hours and the repair was done and the car was ready to go! You guy are aces!Great service, great mechanics and the price is reasonable for top of the line service. Thanks Perry and team at Primarily Japanese! Happy Holidays!Services: Oil change

The team at Primarily Japanese identified the problem with my car and had it fixed and back to me as promised. They have impeccable service and I have recommended them to many friends. The shop is well organized and clean, the staff solicitous and also very funny. It’s not always easy news to hear when you have an old car, but they take the time to explain, have your best safety interests in mind, and source the best value parts possible. They fix both my foreign and domestic cars - don’t let the name fool ya. They never upsell, or recommend unneeded work. I have 100% confidence and trust in them, and they don’t condescend to women or younger drivers. Their mechanics have worked for them for many years - that’s a great sign to me.Services: Wiper blade installation

I started coming here since I found out about them sometime 2021. They have been nice, considerate, and super communicative, which is my favorite aspect about this place. They will lay out everything that I'm paying for, parts and services, and haven't ever secretly charged me for some service that I wasn't aware of or haven't approved. It's honestly nice to find a reliable team of mechanics after moving from a different state. Car issues are such a headache, so the fact that they have been so honest and helpful has been a huge deal for me. Cars aren't cheap, nor services around cars, but for the quality and effectiveness the prices are very fair. Yes I've seen cheaper, but it can be a gamble on how good those services may be. I rather go to a reliable place and support good, honest folk as long as I am able. Definitely worth calling and giving them a try.Services: Auto maintenance

Good, reliable and ethical service provider. I'm very confident of diagnostic services relative to needed repairs and when a vehicle is simply humming along without need of servicing or parts replacements, that's precisely the report the technicians generate and what is communicated to the customer.

I have to say that I was really pleased with the service and timely response with all the Mechanics here. I took in a 2011 KIA with engine problems and within the week I had a complete breakdown of the issues I was dealing with. Although they could've replaced my engine they highly recommended that I take it to the KIA dealership to see if I might be able to get assistance since the research showed there were issues with this model KIA. While taking care of the next steps they were kind enough to let me leave my vehicle there as well. Extremely PROFESSIONAL and HONEST. Will definitely visit again if the need arises and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. :))

I recently visited Primarily Japanese with an issue concerning a boost leak on my car. After charging an egregious fee to drive my car around the block and not test for a boost leak, they told me that nothing was wrong with my car. I am not a mechanic, however, when a car’s turbocharger is producing 50% of the boost that it typically does, there is clearly an issue. I am certain that Primarily Japanese is a wonderful shop for people who need a simple oil change, but anything above the skills of a beginner mechanic should be brought to another shop. On the bright side, they were quite professional in the way that they portrayed themselves, but their competence involving mechanical issues was lacking.Service: Engine repair

I am confused why their name is "Japanese auto care" if they do not provide service to all Japanese vehicles. I have a 1996 Toyota HiAce, JMD. Yes, it drives on the right side and yes, it's old - but a Toyota is a Toyota and the interior is almost identical, which is what every other mechanic has told me. Also, I have previously bought parts JUST fine (myself) and YouTube has been my best friend with this vehicle (and I'm not a mechanic). I booked a drop off appointment online, gave them details about my vehicle and how I understand an old import may be more work - I just needed an oil change. I receive a confirmation email. I spend 30 minutes commuting in traffic this morning to get to this place. the guy who greeted me was fine but when he goes to check the appointment and another man is in the back, rudely saying "oh yeah we already said we wouldn't work on it, I don't work on those, etc.". Just kind of a dick for lack of better words. The other man comes back and asks if I was contacted because after seeing the inquiry they already decided they wouldn't work on it....I never received a call and had taken time off work to get there. Low and behold I just took it to desert toyota and they were very enthusiastic about helping and said they'd figure it out even if it required ordering filters. Terry at Toyota desert was fantastic, these guys - kind of pretentious and also not professional at all.

Great customer service and friendly staff. They do great work and were knowledgeable in vehicle mechanics and breaking down and explaining what was wrong and what needed to be done.I thought of leaving 4 stars only because the part I needed had to be shipped down to Tucson from Phoenix, which meant I had to come back the next day to have it installed. However, given that the issue is fixed I don’t believe that should reflect on the rating of the business.Therefor, 5 STARS!!!Thanks for fixing my car, having them fix a couple other things next week!

So my drivers side window stopped rolling up, sometimes it would, sometimes no. So I called these guys and they said bring it in, nothing available for a few days, but I could get a rental and leave it with them, and they'd try when they have time. Long story short, to replace the switch, they wanted well over $600. The part alone they said was special order and would take a day to get in, it was over $560. I checked online, and right down the street it was $60 and in stock at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Online, it was less than $30, with the tool to replace it. Anyway, I declined the service and did it myself in under 5 minutes for less than $25. They also added me to an email list for deals, which I didn't ask for. I blocked that. And then was added to a text list. Blocked that too. Price gouging at it's finest, and with some spam to boot. They're nice enough, but not a chance I'd ever go back or recommend them to anyone.
