Spirit Halloween Hiring 50,000 Workers for Biggest Season Yet
Spirit Halloween is gearing up for its biggest spooky season yet, planning to open 1,525 stores across the U.S. and Canada for the 2024 season. This will beat the previous year's record by 25 stores.
Over 1,100 of their shops have already “risen from the dead”, with the rest set to open by the end of September. According to the company, the expansion is about "answering the growing consumer demand for all things Halloween."
The retailer is known for setting up its shops in abandoned storefronts once occupied by major chains, transforming them into Halloween wonderlands. This year, Spirit Halloween is putting a fresh spin on its classic "Spirit Hallows" theme, promising the same spooky store designs and one-of-a-kind animatronics, but with a new carnival twist sure to fright and delight.
"The Halloween fandom continues to grow, and our incredible team works year-round to create an experience that will engage customers all season long," said Steven Silverstein, CEO of Spirit Halloween. "Visiting a Spirit Halloween store is more than just a shopping trip – it's entertainment, it's tradition, it's about creating moments and memories with family and friends."
To support its record-breaking season Spirit Halloween goes on a massive hiring spree. The company will employ 50,000 seasonal workers - an entire population of Euless, Texas.
The demand for Halloween products is at an all-time high. The National Retail Federation revealed that Americans spent $12.2 billion on the holiday in 2023 (with $4.1 billion on costumes alone). That's almost 40% up from $8.8 billion in 2019.
