My wife and I recently visited Commercial Drive and found this hidden gem of bookstore. And being an established author and member of The Writers Union of Canada, I known books. The store holds a voluminous selection of everything, in particular Canadiana. I found The Mountain Shadow by Gregory David Roberts, sequel to Shantaram. The staff was cheery and delightful. I highly recommend taking an hour to peruse the stores offerings and enjoy the vibe. (The last photo is me.)

So glad we discovered this little place by chance, their selection is great! We came in looking for Agatha Christie and Arthur Conon Doyle books and were not disappointed!
Their prices for used books are amazing; we left with 5 new books, with their total price being under 40 dollars! We'll 100% be back to search for more literary gems in the future!

I have been coming here for a decade, and I place my loyalties delicately when it comes to books. I love second-hand books, but the relationship with this store has grown like it came out of a Nick Hornby novel.

Quaint bookshop filled with books and puzzles. My favourite part are those yellow post it notes posted on the books or magazines with little quips on them. They made a really nice personalized touch to the books themselves and showed that the owner/store clerks cared. Books are labelled in their shelves and you can find just about any book here. Really great that the people working there were so knowledgable too. Great book shop to visit for bookworms / bibliophiles.

I had a great experience at Canterbury Tales.The store is small and cozy, yet boasts a great selection of books.I was looking for The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson - but there were no used copies of it. So the nice lady (I wasn't able to get her name) offered to bring it in. At the end of the day - I pre-paid for the book at 30% off list price and picked it up the next day near closing time.I was blown away by the store, the customer service, and the reasonable prices. After discovering Canterbury Tales - I will never again use Amazon or Chapters.Highly recommended!

There are many great book stores in Vancouver and this is one of the best. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Brand new books are 30% off list price; Amazon can't beat that! Great location on Commercial Drive. Grab a book and skip across the block to Prado for a nice place to enjoy your book and a coffee.
