I have been coming here for 3 years. I keep coming here because I travel by foot and it's close to home, and I want to support local. But I have to say, I have been overcharged countless times, charged for the wrong item, or their signage is incorrect. It's little things. Today, their sign outside read $0.75 for broccoli. It was soft, but I plan to use it tonight so I didn't mind. I get home to find I've been charged not just for broccoli, but for broccoli crowns at $2.99 a pound. And I had to correct the woman for charging me for yellow peaches when I was purchasing white (again, being charged for the more expensive item) You need to create a system where produce that's discounted or on special is labeled so that the cashier's know. It's a mistake of course, but it has been happening consistently for years. Another time I purchased coffee that was priced at $10.99 on special and got home to find I had been charged $15.99, the regular price, that's just too much to justify not having to walk back to the store to get a refund. I am becoming less and less inclined to come back. My lesson learned is to check my receipt before leaving, but you guys really need to improve on this and be more on top of it. Thank you.

I've been a customer for around 15 years. City Avenue is the one dependable place that has everything I need and at a fair price.
It's a busy place, and can be very crowded at times, but they are obviously trying to improve their store to better serve their customers.
Their points system is a pleasant reward, and helps pay for all the goodies I like to have around at Christmas time.
I like to be able to support local businesses, and City Avenue's quality and prices keep me coming back.

I had a disappointing experience with the customer service at City Avenue Market. While I was paying, I provided my phone number to collect points. The cashier attempted to enter it twice but was unsuccessful. After a few minutes, she blamed me, claiming it didn’t work because I didn’t say the number "1" before "604." She said “it’s not working because YOU didn’t said number 1!!!”.
Firstly, it is her responsibility to know the proper procedure and to guide customers accordingly. Instead of blaming me, she could have professionally asked, "Could you please specify which number goes before 604?" This approach would have been more courteous and effective.
Secondly, we are in Vancouver, BC. It’s common knowledge here that "1" is not required before "604." Everyone knows the local dialing code, and cashiers usually enter it themselves without asking customers. There’s no alternative code like +4604 or anything similar, so her insistence on this was unnecessary and confusing.
Her behavior was rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. I urge the management to educate their employees properly before placing them on cash registers. Despite this incident, City Avenue Market remains my favorite store, and the long-term employees are always pleasant and helpful.

Safeway is closer but I’ve stopped going to to recent rat infestation. This market is always clean and has fresher produce.
