One of my favorite places in the southland. The historic house/museum is full of wonderful things and Sam's furniture is amazing! The native plant, drought resistant garden with scattering art works is beautiful, especially in the spring when lots of flowers bloom ?

Went to see the Maloof home yesterday, and it pains me to give it three stars because the home was outstanding, but our docent was just awful. I will leave her name out, but she has platinum hair and was very sweet, but she must have said "um" about 5,000 times during our tour. She would also talk with her back to us, so I couldn't hear her. It was excruciating. She wasn't knowledgeable about the home either. I asked her three questions and she didn't know the answer to any of them. She sounded like she was trying to fake her way through the tour. I kept wondering if it was her first day. She REALLY needs to learn about the home and practice before she continues.

As a woodworker I've been familiar with Sam Maloof and his work for a few years, and have driven by the exit leading to his home and shop many times wishing I could find the time to visit. This time, knowing I would be passing through on a Saturday after Thanksgiving I made a reservation and we took the tour of the home. This is a hidden gem representing the work of the lifetimes of two artists, Sam and Frieda Maloof. Sam is known for his furniture, especially the sinuous curves of his rocking chairs. The home displays other work he created over the years, included the home which was built addition by addition over 50 plus years. The furniture is beautiful and represents Maloof's unique style, a visual language in a way. My wife was also impressed (not bored) and is telling some friends about it. The gardens and adjacent gallery are also worth a visit, but the main house is well worth the reservation and fee. Check it out.

An incredibly preserved modern artistic treasure. Woodworkers will 100% enjoy this tour, but so will family members and even teenagers who appreciate art and interesting architecture. This was a great little tour of you are in the area in a very picturesque setting.

More than half a century of woodworking carries on with Woodworker exclusively licensed to carry on Sam Maloof’s designs and upon commission execute new works. These folks trained at Sam’s side for years and are consummate cratspeople. The perfect furniture to love, admire and lovingly use in these times!

Wow! A beautifully hidden gem. I did the hour and a half guided tour and learned so much about Sam and Alfreda. The art pieces were exquisite. I will definitely be going back to enjoy the gardens more (ran out of time) and I may even do the guided tour once more.

This foundation does great work and will sustain the legacy of Sam Maloof, one of the greatest woodworkers, including his home and studio.

Sam Maloof will always be an American iconic artist, a legendary self taught woodworker. And truly the finest example of passion for quality of workmanship .

Went for a nice walk with the family on a Saturday afternoon. They have a nice visitor center where you can reserve a tour which includes a tour of the home. We opted for just taking a stroll around the garden on our own since we wanted to keep it at our pace and enjoy the beauty of the area. The store also had various items for sale from different artist/crafts. The garden is peacefully and serene and we enjoyed the different sculptures. I would recomend visiting and enjoying a nice peaceful stroll with the family.
