This hotel is relatively accessible from surrounding roads. The parking lot is easy to navigate with plenty of spaces for guests. With the occasional vagrant passing through the area, my husband and I were pleasantly pleased to see private security, manning the premises once darkness fell.
Our room offered a restful night’s sleep with a comfortable bed, but the flat screen television was more of a headache to work.
The guest bathroom offered both tub and shower options. Lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were available for guest usage.
Overall, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

there is construction going on. Very limited parking. The breakfast was the best part.

Love this place. Been coming here for years. We don't prefer to stay anywhere else. They are affordable, clean, and accommodating.

Super sketchy area with hookers and junkies everywhere , circled the parking lot and they were actively shooting up near the dumpster at the hotel …. We drove off and found a room down in the tejón ranch area which was a nice area .
Don’t stay in Bakersfield.

Very nice room, the bed was super comfortable. Mini fridge and air conditioning were both cold. Shower was okay, the head on the shower was lame. No road noise from my room. I slept pretty decent, pillow was a little stupid but overall nice stay

I was denied a room at this hotel because the name on my credit card didn’t match the name on my ID—even after I provided legal documentation of my name change. I calmly explained that I’m transgender and that this kind of mismatch is a common part of the transition process.
The manager, Kal Patel, was informed of the situation and still refused to make any accommodation. I was honest, respectful, and cooperative—and they were totally fine denying me service anyway.
This wasn’t about policy. This was about bias. If you’re transgender or part of any marginalized group, be aware that this location may not treat you with basic dignity.
I left feeling invalidated and unwelcome—not because of my documents, but because of who I am.

I just stayed there for the first time yesterday. The area seems pretty sketchy with several homeless people walking on the sidewalk near the hotel, but they did have a security guard on the grounds.. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was missing some furniture, though The entire hotel seemed to be undergoing some type of renovation at the time. When we woke up, the power was out in the kitchen, so they said there was no breakfast that day. That is the main reason I stay in Holiday Inn expresses, for the free hot breakfast. One of the two elevators was broken and the one that was usable was pretty dirty. The hotel is directly next to a railroad track, which is extremely noisy when the train goes by. Overall, I was not happy, did not feel safe, felt it wasn’t worth the price paid.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Bakersfield in the Whirlpool Room and found that while the room had potential, several maintenance issues significantly affected my experience. A few bulbs were out, the fridge wasn't working, and the toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. These problems made the stay less comfortable than expected, and I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to enhance the overall guest experience.

I booked for 3/20 but arrived at the hotel at midnight. The doors were locked so I rang the door bell multiple times and no answer. I began tapping the glass till the receptionist came out. The old man gray hair and beard with glasses started to yell at me. While checking in he said 5 words to me asking for my card and to sign. Being a platinum member I expected more. I will never stay at this location again.

Staff was great. They let me park my motorcycle up close to the door that helped me not worry. Breakfast is a full breakfast and everything was great with lots of choices. Room was clean and quiet.

I was very happy with my recent stay at this particular holiday Inn. This was a new location for me because my usual one was booked. I was a little leery because the website indicated the hotel was under renovation. However, I was fortunate to be put in one of the newly renovated rooms and I was very impressed. The decor is very tasteful and minimalist, with some very nice touches. Notably, a dedicated lighted book area for coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. I really liked the ‘dressing area’ with a full length mirror. And the Holiday Inn pillows are always my favorites. I sleep like a baby. Staff at the front desk was very courteous and welcoming, and the breakfast is very nice. The hotel itself has easy access to the 99 freeway and there are a lot of food options within walking distance. I will definitely stay here again.
