It’s rare you go out of your way to purchase from brick and mortar vs online these days - but that’s one of the many draws of SJ Camera. It’s worth the effort. Their staff is knowledgeable beyond belief - especially helpful when making an investment in camera equipment. Large selection of the latest and greatest that you can hold and play with in their store. The fact they’ve been here for 35+ years is testament to the efficiency of this establishment. Sure, some of their staff can come off as camera snobs sometimes, but that’s why I go there - you’re buying from experts who aren’t trying to upsell you on things you don’t need (quite the contrary). Paul is my favorite - been going to him for years and he’s got a great demeanor - and a ton of experience.

Store is so helpful and fun. Went in on my birthday and they sand my a happy b day song lol. The only store that helped me get cassettes for my camcorder. Love the place very much. Coming back soon xoxo

Know in my family as Daddy's toy store. Selection of all types of camera gear is exceptional. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and even much more helpful. A required stop for me whenever I'm in San Jose.

I brought them an old tape of mine that my dad gave me before his passing to convert into USB. My dad told me he’s been saving it for years to give to me. Gave them a $20 deposit for convert the tape into USB.Said it would take around 3 months.They followed up saying they lost the tapeAnd that there more than happy to refund me my $20Told me to not hesitate to come to them for any other services after losing my dads tape he waited to give to me at the end of his life?This place is horrible

Fantastic service. I had a problem with connecting the great Nikon Z50 I bought from them to Snapbridge and called, they were even able to help me get it working over the phone, as I was on a travel deadline. Thank you!!

This is a great business. I like to buy local when possible and this business delivers with excellent customer service and the desire to put the customer first. Thank you San Jose Camera and Video for being so helpful, patient and kind. I brought in my 6-year-old Canon camera. The staff member was quick to help me and fixed my camera on the spot. She was extremely kind and lovely to interact with. I highly recommend this camera shop!

We have purchased cameras and lenses here in the past. Our daughter bought a canon ae1 off of eBay and was so excited to work with it. After she put in the film, it wouldn't advance. She brought it in to San Jose Camera and they found that the mirror had fallen off onto the lens. They put it back together and she was so happy to start exploring film photography! Thank you San Jose camera!

Pretty disappointed how San Jose Camera operates their waiting list.I called in February to put my name down on their waiting list for a Fuji X100V( I am very aware I was going to be waiting a long time). At the time I asked if I needed to put down a deposit and I was told it was not.I called every 3 to 4 weeks to check my status on the wait list, they let me know I was slowly moving up. On 5/1/23 Alex had left me a voicemail to let me know a used X100F was available. But I was keen on waiting for the V So it seems at that point I was indeed on the waitlist and they had my contact information.I decided to call today to check my status, and I am now told they have no record of me on the waitlist for this camera. And I would have a lower priority if I didn't put down a deposit, which is contrary to what I was told when I initially called to get on this waitlist.This has been frustrating for me as I have been waiting for months for a camera that is hard to find in stock, and apparently for nothing as my name magically disappeared off their waiting list, and employees are telling customers that deposits for waitlist are unnecessary without telling them they'd be a lower priorityI truly wanted to support a local business but wish I had gone to another retailer who can manage a waiting list and not waste months of their customers time.

As mentioned by another reviewer 5 months ago, they price gouge on film. They have no problem selling film for HUMONGOUS markups and act like they are selling it for fair prices, or even like they are cutting you a deal. Save yourself from some sleazy, high pressure, slick talking salesmen and save yourself a TON of money by avoiding this store. If you choose to come here anyway, prepare to lose money and be taken advantage of by the employees.Pro tip: buy your film online from B&H. With their shipping price included ($4), I saved $20 on two rolls of film compared to the in store price - no exaggeration. Nearly a 50% discount from ordering online. There is no incentive to buy from a brick and mortar camera store when they are so predatory.
