Convenient to the 33 bus line, and lots of downtown Culver City’s best restaurants, this bookstore is a must visit for bibliophiles that love romance. Elsewhere that might warrant an eye roll but at The Ripped Bodice, you’re in romance heaven. There’s everything here from beautiful, classic Jane Austen editions with gilt-covered pages to the newest, hottest romances topping charts at all major media outlets. There’s great attention paid to LGBTQIA+ books, both those about those who are and by authors who are. There’s a cute event space, there are stickers and gift items for the special bibliophile in your life (or for you!), and there’s no high pressure sales here. Just fellow bibliophiles, there when you need them. Or to finally ring up your purchase that’s far more than you planned to spend. This isn’t a place you leave empty handed!

Very cute, cozy place. Lots of books (mostly cartoon-y covers) but definitely lacked dark romance for my preference, which i hoped they had lots of. Other than that, i enjoyed my visit.

If you are a romance lover, this is the place to go! Even if you're just stopping by to look at the gorgeous decor, it is well worth your time.

Unfortunately my experience at the ripped bodice was a bit underwhelming. The bookstore was very aesthetic and cutesy; however, the staff was cold and provided zero customer service. There were 3 ladies at the cash register and not one offered to help any one in the store; during checkout they didn’t even look at me due to their own personal conversations they were having. I was so sad… I wanted to ask about signed copies, but literally no one was available to help due to the conversation amongst themselves was too entertaining and forgot they were working. Overall the store is super cute… I just hope their customer service gets a little better.

The bookstore was so cute! However I wish the staff were more personable. I was looking for some help, but everyone was at the cashier’s desk. Even checking out was kind of awkward when nobody would even speak to me. Kinda ruined the experience, I had been looking forward to visiting the store.

so amazing to experience a bookshop made for romance readers by romance readers. Incredibly lucky to hear about you guys! I was visiting for the weekend from Toronto, Canada for the La times FOB and you were my first stop from the airport. Excited to see you guys again at steamy lit con in august!
