"A perfect getaway to enjoy with the family! The place is simply beautiful, with large green areas ideal for a picnic and outdoor activities. Plus, they are dog-friendly, which is great for pet lovers! However, the train ride didn't meet my expectations. The seating position makes it difficult to fully enjoy the scenery, and I ended up with a sore neck. I wouldn't recommend it especially if you have small children as they might get bored. Still, when the train ? arrives to the parking lot provides a great opportunity to capture gorgeous photos of the train. A mixed experience, but worth the visit for the natural surroundings and family fun!"

ℹ️There's no point waiting in line to board the train, BTW. (You can get on at any point. The beginning of the line isn't gonna board 1st)The overall experience was very mediocre, from the food to the ride.? We did the diesel train. It drives you 40 minutes into the woods, stops, and returns, then you have lunch if you bought it.? The Salami/Turkey w/ provolone cheese - was very dry. (the food building was closed, so you could only eat if you pre-bought your food).? I'll never return, thank you. It's not as fun and cool as the website advertised it would be.

This is a family must do, must see. We came here with 70 teenagers on a tour and it had plenty of activities, awesome train ride. Very educational and ENTERTAINING!

I took my girlfriend who has lived in the Bay area her entire life and has never heard of this place. It was such a fun ride and we especially LOVED how they are dog-friendly. The little town provided a full experience from food to their General Store to a Press Shop. There was a child's party and we could see their awe as the train came in. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable. The grounds are clean, plenty of parking and the train ride intertwined thru the park.

Me and my family went for the ride through the Redwood forest. Overall the space they have is great. The train is awesome and the forest is beautiful. The kids loved everything around them and were genuinely excited. So why the bad review? Imagine what you must think its like sitting in a steam train with all the sounds it makes, going thru a peaceful redwood forest with all the nice sounds that such an environment has to offer. But no, 90 minutes of people spewing verbal diahrea into microphone through speakers that generated....AND I KID YOU NOT I MEASURED IT THE WHOLE RIDE....95-98 decibels worth of noise the whole way. I couldnt even hear the steam train. 2 days later my ears still hurt, I cant imagine the little kids ears. For those that arent aware noises over 90 decibels for durations longer that 20-30 minutes can hurt our ears. 98 decibels is almost 10x that. For comparison, during moments where they werent talking the train was generating about 80 decibels, almost 100x less noise.Everyone around us was just hoping they would shut up and let us enjoy the ride, but no. They felt the need to fill EVERY LAST SECOND with verbal garbage. It is the one and only reason I will never come back.

What a cool place to walk through! We were here to visit Henry Cowell and walked through to Roaring Camp when we heard the train. We didn't take the train ride, but it looks awesome! The town is super cute, very picturesque with tons of activities and things to see for kids and families. Recommend checking this place out, even just for a walkabout and photo op!

Enjoyed the trip very much. Had fantastic weather, just great! Very cozy and impressive through the redwoods. A must, not just for railway fans!

A pretty relaxing activity, especially for those who are taking 1-day family tour with elders and kids. In terms of the sightseeing itself, there's nothing special or amazing that you should expect to see. The admission price is not cheap either, but consider that they only run 2 turns per day, it is still acceptable.Another byproduct is you can take a tour to the adjacent Redwood State Park, which has a much more staggering view!BTW, if you come here without a vehicle, you should call the office and get a refund for your parking fee.

You like the train or not. It was a fun place for all ages!We visited this camp in a cold January Saturday morning, the temperature was in the high 40’s, but did not reduce the excitement and anticipation of the crowds! We was originally on the 12:00 PM train, but they were able to change us to the 10:30 one because we arrived early. The 120 years old Shay steam locomotive preformed flawlessly but we encountered a down tree about half way. It took four crew members and about 30 minutes with three chainsaw to clear the down tree. The narration alone the whole ride not only informative, also highly educational. They introduced the history of the camp, how the redwood forest grows and special species of the trees in this area!My wife and I had a lots of fun and looking forward to coming back in the summer time.

Overall neat experience to ride the steam train through the redwoods! A conductor narrates the history of the camp, railroad, and forest during the 75 min trip. You get to stop for a break to see 9000 year old trees. I got slightly bored during some parts since the train moves slowly and there wasn’t too much to see in the forest. The campgrounds were cool to walk around. You can get s’mores! Don’t forget to bring a jacket since it’s cold during winter!

I was so excited to bring our son here. I booked out tickets online in advance. Children under 2 are free! We arrived 45 minutes before boarding, and it was great because most of the crowd had not shown up yet, so we checked it, got our boarding pass, and walked around. Boarding the train was interesting because there was no line, just herds of people trying to get in as fast as possible with no care for people with small children. I definitely think the staff could handle this for the safety of everyone. The train ride on the steam engine is 100% worth it. It is a beautiful ride among a very small percentage of Redwoods that are left. Our ride was completed exactly at lunch tome.somwe stayed and aye at Georgie's and sat in the sun on a lovely picnic green picnic table. It honestly was a beautiful day for my family and I. I hope to come back one day. There's so much we have yet to see.

After having oral surgery a few days ago, i was feeling well enough to venture out today with the family. We went to Santa Cruz, with plans to stop in Felton first, to walk around Roaring Camp, before heading to the wharf for lunch. We arrive at roaring camp, around 10:30am. only to be told that we CANNOT go into the park, UNLESS WE WERE GOING TO RIDE THE TRAIN. We asked the odd and snooty women at the gate, WHY!?!? She said that if we wanted to JUST WALK AROUND, then we would have to drive all the way around to the Hwy 9 entrance, then walk from THAT parking lot into roaring camp via the foot bridge. Sooooo she suggested we drive 10-15 mins by car, just to end up exactly where we already were.We have been visiting roaring camp since we were little kids, so basically for 40+ years, now this very strange women is NOT allowing us in, because we had no plans to ride the train! And BTW, we had a handicap , because mom is blind and in a wheel chair. When I TRIED to explain, the women just told us to make a u-turn and leave the park. I am confused...when did this new rule go into affect???

We've been visiting Roaring Camp since our children were little. Now in their 30's, we have found memories of great times and train rides. So, when Thomas the Tank was featured this month, we had to go back and experience the joy of train rides. The Thomas and Percy trains are connected to a passenger train so you can ride into the Redwood Forrest. They had a large assortment of Thomas merchandise, BBQ & other foods. There was a guitarist playing kids songs. Both adults and kids were dressed for Halloween as well. After we rode the train we walked over to the Henry Cowell Redwood trail. If you're a train lover like my family, I would encourage you to take your family out to Roaring Camp in Felton, Ca.

This quaint attraction in Felton is a wonderful spot for relaxing among the sequoias. They have annual passes for those that will come a few times a year. We have gone a couple times and are looking forward to checking out the holiday festivities.
