We purchased a 1/4 cow back when COVID started. We had been batting around the idea of purchasing bulk beef prior to COVID and then the craziness of grocery store food shortages made us commit with Bear River Valley Beef.We wanted 3 things: an easy shopping experience, California farmer, and 100% grass fed. Bear River Valley Beef delivered on all 3 and it was a terrific experience.When we placed our order the delivery was impacted by COVID and our shipment was delayed by 2 full days. We spoke with Bear River every day and they did everything possible to get our delivery there faster but it was simply held up by Fed Ex. The delivery came and the beef was still very cold and only slightly defrosted. We quickly put everything in the freezer and had 0 spoilage. It was beyond impressive that Bear River was able to package a product intended for overnight delivery but still have it deliver cold after 3 full days in the California heat. The situation with Fed Ex was completely out of their control but Bear River communicated well and we felt taken care of.Regarding the quality of the beef, it is superb. Getting a 1/4 cow we had a mix of steaks, roasts, stew meat, and ground beef. Everything exceeded our expectations. The beef was naturally leaner and all the cuts were smaller than grain fed beef. It was ideal because it caused us to eat a little less and we lost some COVID pounds! We loved the flavor of grass fed and it reminded us more of deer or elk but without the gaminess. The ground beef is absolutely the best ground beef we have ever had. We made everything you could possible make with ground beef and every time it felt like a 5 star dining experience. Even simple meals like chili were elevated because of the quality. Who knew that ground beef could be so much better than what we are all used to?We are on our very last package and will be placing another bulk order.If you want to support local farmers, eat a little healthier, and have a closer connection to your food then you should give Bear River Valley a try.

I've used Bear River Valley Beef for a couple of years and I could never go back to another. The taste is amazing! I can tell their cattle were treated humanely and grass fed. Unlike any other, I highly recommend!

We've enjoyed Bear River Valley Beef for a few years now. Consistently excellent quality meat. I cannot find better in the San Francisco Bay area for any price. Easy to order exactly what we want and shipping is very reasonable.

for many years i was in search of quality grass fed beef as i am very picky when it comes to quality and taste of beef, i am overly jovial to have found Bear river valley. outstanding beef quality, from the taste to the sustainable cattle raising practices, i am all for supporting local farms as i know how difficult and jarring it is to raise quality cattle.One way to describe their ground beef would be creamy buttery bold and rich. With high fat of 20% which is what i love, once cooked very slowly on low heat, the beef just melts in the mouth. Hopefully you will be able to provide me with your services for a very long time especially in these crazy times where beef is frowned upon via propaganda. Thanks Liz

Picked up some of the beef summer sausage at the Arcata Farmers Market. So nice on a charcuterie board! The jalapeno gives it just the right high note without being too spicy. Very nice texture. We served it without the casing. Chef's kiss ?
