Tough situation when you have to visit them. I think they perform their job well. It does feel a bit like a transaction and thus do not feel 100% of the outcome. I will get a second opinion and do whatever it takes to give my dog a chance.

My dog has been going here for 6 years and has seen and being followed by Dr Bonaparte and Dr Mar. she was seen in consultation by Dr Ancona. I thank them all for their quality of her care, their patience with her princess attitude and being available whenever I call (very rarely has it happened) as the hospital is quite busy but they always respond

First time here to see oncology team recommended from our Dr. at VCA Laguna Niguel. Our dog has just been diagnosed with cancer and had to have many tests to determine treatment. Caring staff and knowledgeable Dr. Tests and surgery is very expensive (in the thousands) and we unfortunately don’t have pet insurance.

I would have given a worse rating if it weren't for most of the staff being friendly and the facility (at least to the public) looking clean. I transferred my pet here from a nighttime clinic for a possible obstruction in his intestines. The previous vet did an exam and X-rays and we determined my pet needed an ultrasound. By the time we picked up my pet the doctor had left and there was only a receptionist that was able to send the information. Unfortunately, VCA was the only hospital in the area that could do an ultrasound. However, instead of taking the information they got and doing a quick ultrasound, they wanted to do their own examination for nearly $200. The worst thing is we had to wait around 3 hours for that examination, just for them to determine he needed an ultrasound and that he would probably need surgery, given that if he was blocked up his intestines could die. The ultrasound cost over $700 and took them over three hours just to start without telling me it would take a while. I ended up asking to leave as I had an appointment coming up. They said they were about to start and would call me when the doctor was done and they would go from there. 20 minutes later they called me and told me my pet was fine and could be picked up... You could have told me that 3 hours ago if you didn't do your exam that was already done, but whatever. When I came in to pick him up I was exhausted from spending the whole day waiting, worrying, and taking care of my pet. They had me do the release process but did not give much of any verbal or physical instructions on what to do when I got home other than watch him. (This is my first time at a vet by myself). Long story short, I left the bandage on too long and my pet's paw got swollen. Which could have been avoided if the instructions were spoken (like they do at every hospital I've been to).Anyway, I know VCA has a track record of bringing up the information of their customers who leave bad reviews and sharing it with everyone in a tone that almost implies they are mocking them. I can assure you that if you bring up my pets name or any other information I will take legal action. I should be able to express my feelings without being harassed. I know you are slow because of all the animals you take care of and that really isn't the problem. I only ask you to do better at communicating and working with the owners.

Can’t thank VCA Fountain Valley enough! I understand people’s frustrations with costs, wait times, etc with vet medicine…but this establishment has the best intentions for your pet. Understand vet medicine has the same issues as healthcare with humans…and again, those working the frontlines have the best intentions.Our personal experience at VCA with our senior basset has been nothing short of incredible. Paralysis with IVDD in Oct 2022, and after complications with multiple surgeries…he is now walking and has a great quality of life. However, a year later, we are returning for possible IVDD flare up. Although stressed, we can’t imagine going anywhere else for care. Our family knows we are in the best of hands with Dr Ancona and team. Appreciate you all at VCA Fountain Valley!

Dr Moussa took such good care of our girl Nala. Her paw was extremely swollen, raw, and painful. Dr Moussa identified the problemand sent us home with instructions and medications, all working perfectly. There was one other possible diagnosis, a rare autoimmune disease, but rather than starting off with costly testing she took a conservative approach to the most likely cause of her problem paw. The reason I left my veterinary office was because they were over charging on medications and doing extreme, unnecessary testing when my pups were sick. I appreciate that she took a conservative approach first to get to the root of the problem. Nala’s paw looks so good just after a couple days of treatment. I’m so happy with the professionalism of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, and the care they gave my suffering girl. Front desk staff are courteous and loving to my fur babies but the wait time is sooooo long each time we pay visit. Roughly 3-5 hours just for them to see my babies. I understand that they are trying to make sure every animal is carefully examined and cared for but this can be resolved by making sure they have enough staff to do so. Since this emergency hospital is pretty overpriced, hopefully can hire more veterinarians to work for them.

They say the things you want to hear over the phone to give you hope that you are bringing your pet to the right place. When you get there, it's another story. We had taken our puppy there for a 2nd opinion, and all we got was information to take him somewhere else, he got no physical exam and we got a $190 bill. It saddens me to see how you guys are milking people for money, not helping them. Please people,do your research . Read the reviews and do what is best for your love one. By bringing them here, chances are you will get an no solution, still will be searching for answers, and a hefty bill.

The clinic looks professional and very high end, however i dont think they understand the word emergency properly.My wife and myself brought our dog in at 4 am due to nausia etc. and they immediately submitted her to a parvo test, which came back positive. However, upon giving us the bad news they said that they cant see us until 8:30 in the morning by estimate. Parvo can develop very abruptly and hours can prevent a life or death situation. The “reasoning” for this wait was the shift change and prior patients.We opted to come back 4 and a half hours later to this clinic to submit our dog for treatment.Upon returning we were left in the blank 1.5 hours after “cheking in” only to be told that the wait is due to more urgent cases and that out case is nor urgent because the dog is “lively enough”. I think the que here works based on who is closer to the death bed.The catch of the whole story is that we took our dog to Pacific CARE Pet Emergency and Specialty to be admitted sooner which they did on the spot only to re run the tests TWICE and say that the one given to us by VCA was a false positive.I understand that every individuals case is urgent for them but this place seems to either be lacking the staff or integrity to adjust incoming pets based on how much work needs to be done.If i could give negative stars i would because one star is too gracious.

The staff is friendly and courteous. The reason for the poor review is their inability to provide transparency in wait times. After checking in, I sat and waited. Close to three hours later the vet had come to me, which was the only other contact I had with the staff since the check in. The vet handed me a list of other pet hospitals which was nicely formatted with various color coding for easier reading, which indicates to me this might be a standard practice here. She proceeded to tell me that they had no idea when they would be able to see my dog. This is about 10-15 minutes after taking in the dog of the people who arrived minutes before me. At this point, I and one other person were still in the waiting room with an animal. Others were waiting for the pets that were already in the back. I got the update that there were 15 emergencies they were handling including dying animals. The interesting part, I was sitting there for 3 hours and didn't see too many animals get moved to the back. Therefore, why wait until now to tell me. I asked why didn't anyone inform me when I checked in, but I got what felt like a well rehearsed talk about the nature of emergencies. She even equated to emergency experiences I would go through. I didn't want to argue, but I have never been in an emergency situation that didn't have estimations of wait time. Sure, it could change, but there would be transparency. She suggested I could call ahead, in which I asked, if I called 3 hours ago, would they have told me about this? Her response was "no". I think she started with the emergency talk again. As I didn't want to debate this with her, I didn't ask, why call then? If I called three hours ago, I would still be here and waited the three hours before being handed a list of other hospitals. It seems the emergency talk is the fall back and they will not give any estimations. On my way out, I stopped by the desk to get a sense of when most concurrent number of vets would be working and it turns out, they seem to have limited number. From what I could gather, it seems there is one and then an overlap at the end of one shift and the beginning of the next shift. In addition, I was told upon arrival of the next vet, they do something like a 90 minute round. In a way, that makes sense. If they are running with one vet, that vet will need to give the other overview of each patient/animal. I'm guessing that might be part of the reason they finally came out and handed me the list of other hospitals.Given the staff was friendly, and courteous, I'm giving it 2 stars.

AVOID all VCA’s as much as possible. They did absolutely nothing for my sweet fur baby. The only options they gave was euthanized. I believe there was something we could’ve done, my husband and I were willing to pay a lot of money to save her life but no they don’t care. They just want to put your fur baby to sleep and it call it a day and get money for it. They do it when you are at your most vulnerable state of mind and you cannot think clearly. I even went to see a internal medicine doctor at VCA at different location and she couldn’t rule out what was wrong with my girl. They always say we need more testing but at the end it was too late. I regret bringing her here! We felt so rushed to make a decision and I almost wanted to go off on them. They don’t have remorse whatsoever. I received a card from them sending their condolences and I tore it up into pieces because they did NOTHING for her. I miss my sweet angel SO MUCH and I wish I could’ve taken her somewhere else. So please do NOT go here or any VCA’s hospital.

This place saved my dogs life, one year ago my duggo had two seizures in a day. And sadly she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given 3-6 months to live with medication or just euthanize right away. I was referred here by the place that did her MRI and gave me the diagnosis. We spoke with Dr. Jenei who laid out all our options. She was nice but also stern if she felt sure about something I was doing wrong for my dog which I appreciate. We opted to go the route of stereotactic radiation therapy. Since then there has not been a single neurological issue. She is not doped up on any drugs and she is happy as can be. I'm so thankful and blessed to have come across this oncology department. They are knowledgeable and know what they are doing. Thank you Dr. Jenei and to your team as well for doing what you do. You've blessed me with a year longer with my old girl. She is doing so good and it is thanks to you guys.

The caring loving staff does not make up for the prices. Im trying to save my cat and just paid $200 for an exam for them to tell me I may owe $2500 + for blood transfusion testibg and meds they might have to give her. Go to golden state human society in Garden Grove if you can.

On April 3rd. I took my dog to VCA west coast since 4 other doctors suggested only a "specialist" could remove the mass or tumor she had on top of her leg. I had to wait several days for an appointment and I was afraid the mass would pop since I could see her skin stretching until finally it started to tear and consequently bleed. My dog was bleeding when we arrived and I couldn't believe how dr. Kim was sooo casual explaining to me what he was going to do to remove the mass and how it could be cancer and blah blah blah. I told the "doctor" to please concentrate now on how to stop the bleeding otherwise he wouldn't have a patient to treat tomorrow.They took my dog and about one hour later he came out to let me know my dog was dead. They let her bleed to death. I definitely DON'T recommend this place, it's all about

My 14 year old cat was diagnosed with lymphoma and we were referred to VCA West Coast for oncology care. Our experience with Dr. Sadowski and her medical oncology team was exceptional throughout my cat's treatment. Everyone from front desk staff to vet technicians was friendly and supportive. My cat's cancer was at an advanced stage and we knew her time was limited; the treatment plan Dr. Sadowski prescribed allowed my kitty to be playful and energetic again, most days showing no side effects of her cancer. The vet techs who worked with my cat are very passionate about animal care and were gentle with her during care. Sadly the lymphoma eventually ran its course but I think she enjoyed every extra day she was alive due to the treatment she received. I am grateful to VCA for all the extra time I was able to spend with my beloved black void of a cat.Caring for a cat with lymphoma is very stressful and everyone at VCA made it much more manageable so I could focus on quality time with my kitty. Thank you to everyone at VCA for your support and compassion; your passion for animal care shows and it is comforting to know we have a strong veterinary oncology department in Orange County.
