It's a nice typical American quick bite place. For the pies, they are sweet and soft. If you are the more healthy eater kind, you will find them too sweet. At home, when I bake some cakes, I always put half of the amount of sugar according to a typical recipe.

Absolutely love this place. Always stop by with my girlfriend to get the lunch special served til 3pm I believe. Some of the best service and friendliest staff ever fathomed. Wether you're driving through Julian or out for a day trip, I absolutely recommend stopping by Apple Alley Bakery.

Had an incredible panini and salad here. Relaxed comfortable seating. They should raise their prices, it was that good.

Not only were the apple crumb and strawberry rhubarb pies good, the cinnamon ice cream was incredible. Nice staff and pleasant seating.

Best pies and Ice cream!!

This tiny, wonderful bakery is my favorite in the area. They have a good sandwich selection, gluten-free options, and absolutely phenomenal baked goods. The staff are friendly and just amazing.

Seriously good pie! We had 4 different slices; boysenberry apple, caramel pecan apple, gluten free apple and apple crumble, we all loved them. Yummy flavors and good size slice with either vanilla or cinnamon ice cream.

Best Pies in Julian. Their lunch are great. Reasonably priced.

Love the strawberry rhubarb! My hubby and I each got the lunch special. What a great deal - half of a well stuffed sandwich, either sm soup or salad and a slice of pie. Apple was good too, but I like tart pie and the strawberry rhubarb was perfect!

All Julien apple pies are delicious, but for me, I head for 'Apple Pie Alley' first. They're always quick, tasty, and has a great selection. I've never ever not walked away from there without a huge smile on my face and a happy belly!

Ive been making trips to this apple pie shop for more then 20 years! By far the best pies in Julian.

They need to update their hours -_- says they're open daily, but they weren't open when we came. Very disappointed.

I love this bakery. You should visit and order Lunch SP. It costs $10.95 includes half sandwich, soup and pie. Please do not forget to add Ice cream for the pie. My family's favorite and recommendation is pecan pie. The soup is great, no matter what you choose, and I love super friendly employees.

Great prices on gluten free whole pies and the staff is very friendly! Will be back for more when I'm in the area!

Let me preface this by saying I can't eat American pies because all they taste like to me is sugar and salt. No flavor. This place tho. I can't say enough good things about this apple pie. The crust is perfect. Totally home made and fresh with not too much salt or sugar. It has taste. So much taste. And the apples are perfect. Addicted!

This little spot's pies are as as good as any other in town but is always less crowded.

Never in my life I have been charged for a plastic knife. They are .20 cents each. If you plan to visit take your own utensils or have some spare cash prepare to buy them.

3.5 Service (friendliness)
5.0 Ease of Purchase
When in Julian, you get apple pie. Julian has apple orchards so they have all sorts of apple wares. We tried (and bought) apple cider, apple butter, caramel apple and an apple pie.
I went to Yelp and checked all the reviews but my husband saw the first pie we saw and fell in love. I wanted to get it at the end so we weren't carrying it around all day. We got about 5 steps and went back...he wanted to make sure they didn't sell out. LOL! So, we carried it all day.
The best thing about Apple Alley is that they have a separate window for whole pie purchase that keeps you out of the line for the restaurant and the one for the to-go for pastries and sliced pies. It was fast and easy. After seeing the lines for the other pie purveyors, it really puts Apple Alley up on the list.
The pie is heavy (especially after carrying it all day) so it must be made with lots of apples. The crust is good-flaky with a good flavor and the apples tender with not too much spice. Good but nothing spectacular though. It was $14.95 which is from $1 to $7 cheaper than other pies.
We had a piece tonight and liked it even better! We will try the other pies when we go back to Julian but I don't know if they will be better than this!

CANNOT EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR APPLE ALLEY ENOUGH!!! sadly, I've only been here once but that was all that was needed to take my heart! When I visited Julian, we stopped by Julian pie co and ordered pies (which were also not bad, but NOTHING compared to Apple Alley).
We were sad to find this little gem after the fact. Regardless, we purchased oatmeal raisin cookies and that was already the best cookie I've ever tasted! My friend is visiting Julian shortly. I told her that this is the place to go!!! She is bringing me back an apple pie! I've been dreaming about it ever since. Can't wait!!!
**UPDATE: I didn't know heaven until I met these boxes

I loveee the pies here, and on my past visits never had an issue with nothing, it was perfect... In till today. One lady a Brunnet one, came from the back to help the cashier, and she was just rude and giving a lot of attitudes to many customers. I usually understand the overwhelming of dealing with extra crowds. But no one was mean or rude, everyone was patiently waiting for whatever pie was left. We all understood that we needed to settle for what was available. My point is that, no need for rude attitude while you are being polite. I didn't even order the amazing cinnamon icecream that I love. I just didn't wanted to add more to the attitude.

Apple Alley Bakery is a must for us on every visit. I now call ahead just to order dozens of cookies to bring back home to my family. I got hooked on their pie crust cookies years and years ago; they're so light and flaky and just the right amount of a treat. We recently tried the chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies; every bit as good. Staff is always eager to assist and engaging.

A must-stop visit in Julian! You can't leave Julian without having some pie, and you definitely don't need to wait in a long line like at the bakery across the street. The apple crumb pie with cinnamon ice cream was delicious!

The sandwiches are good, the soup is delicious and hot but the pies are the best.
I highly recommend the apple crumb pie and the pecan apple pie. The boysenberry pie is also good but it was too sweet for me.
The service is very good and the place is simple and clean.
If you like pies and plan to buy pies for takeout, take more than one. Trust me, you'll regret buying just one after the long trip.

We made a spontaneous little trip over to Julian to check out the snow. There seemed to be lots of tourists/visitors wandering the town and the more popular pie shop had quite a long line. We decided to give this place a try and we were definitely happy that we did.
This is a quaint little bakery spot with several pies, cookies, tarts, turnovers, and cinnamon rolls to choose from. They even offer warm beverages and have a small lunch menu, as well. There was indoor and patio seating. And, on a chilly day, the indoor area was warm and cozy. The staff was very nice and the service was excellent. They also bring your food over to your table once it's ready.
We ordered 2 slices of pie - the Apple Crumb and the Mango Apple - and got them both warmed up with scoops of Cinnamon ice cream. In addition, we ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate. Everything was delicious! The Apple Crumb is normally our go-to style of pie and this one did not disappoint. If you like mango, you might want to try the Mango Apple as it was a tasty variant of the Apple Crumb.
If you haven't been here yet, we'd recommend you give them a try. If you're craving some pie and lines are long everywhere else, don't disregard this bakery. They may not be as popular, but their pies are just as good.

About a 2-2.5: Apple Alley Bakery is another local pie shop that offers various pies, sandwiches, and even gluten-free options.
I tried a slice of their Apple Crumb pie, but I wasn't a fan - the filling was almost like a syrupy sweet, and the crumbles and the crust were a bit too soggy and wet. The slice was served wrapped in saran wrap.
Staff were friendly, and there were seating available inside. Just look for the signs that point you to the bakery's location, as it is location in a little alley off the main road.
I'm glad I was able to give Apple Alley Bakery a try and taste their version of the apple pie, but not sure if I'd go back.

We bought 2 gluten-free pies.
My wife hasn’t had pie in 3 years since developing a sensitive to gluten and milk proteins.
Also got a gluten free slice of apple boysenberry (pictured) and a slice of apple pecan Carmel (pictured)
