Almost zero customer service to fix even the smallest of things that get broken in just normal/routine use in the facility. There actions or in actions speak volumns that they just don't care about there members. No one seems to be in charge since nothing ever gets done. You should strongly consider other gyms if you are in the market for someplace to work out.

If you want to swim laps in the summer, this is not the place to come. They have decided to use the pool for a daycare center for kids. You can not get a lane to swim laps. They keep adding kid programs without regard for the paid members who wish to swim laps. You try to adjust your schedule around the kid programs, but the Y staff keeps changing the kids' times and adding new programs that eliminate available slots. Many individuals who came to swim laps for exercise have given up.

This YMCA offers stunning swim lessons and Champagne lessons for those who need a more bountiful set of feathers. PERIOD this La Mesa YMCA is a wonderful place to relax or obtain a champion class work out. The his place is extremely SAFE and carries a reputation that if some harmful energy shall come around; the current coordinator has so much Respect, Mo-Ama Kadafi would be the outcome. Ciao XOXO143 19.5 23 and feathering with the new primary and secondary crank case covers.

Too many times the pool is closed. The men's locker room is 60 degrees in the winter and there is no hot water from the locker room sink. The showers are out of the 1970s and the spa has been broken for over 2 years. They raise their dues consistently but don't maintain this facility.

I can speak for the whole facility, but the swim lessons- I will not be doing here again. The teachers do not seem skilled and my daughter did not progress. We had much better luck at Kroc center and other place.

I was promised a refund and credit after a canceled swim class and horrible swim instructor. After weeks of no credit or refund I’m disputing with my bank. Stay clear of this fraudulent YMCA and the horrible swim team.

Wow ! What a hidden gem.. Clean, quiet and most congenial friendly staff. Absolutely low key, no hype or pressure. Work at your own pace or take their classes. The Aqua fit water aerobics are awesome fun. Personal trainers available. Surrounded by Beautiful park .

Smaller YMCA, with outdoor pool only. Very well used, with very friendly staff. Only drawback is the parking can be tight, as they share the parking with the pickle ball courts and sports area.

While the staff and classes are great, their parking is BAD! No spots available to park even if you show up 15 min before class! This is no good.

We used them for our two elementary aged children for two weeks of summer camp. They were well staffed, communicates well, very organized. The best part was my kids had fun and felt loved and included without any issues.

bigger problem - yelp forcing all lowercase on an all upercase review. do not modify the content of reviews. ymca - gym review: biggest problem: i joined a gym specifically for access to a shower in the early morning and transferred to the ymca at john a. davis after going to kroc center for a period. john a davis has a hot water kettle - this is fundamental, hot water needs to be available at a cost of $.25 at a minimum for at least a thermos full. kroc opened at 5am, but i needed a 4am shower at that time, ymca opens at 6am. the earlier shower time is needed in order to start work by 7am/8am with a long workout in the early morning when it is cooler and while attendance is low. biking is required for anyone living on the cheap - it helps to resolve a variety of health related issues while being the fastest form of low cost transportation. biking requires showers at either end of a route. public shower acccess is non-existant in san diego outside of mobile showers with inconsistent schedules or the beach. this places the burden of providing these public access showers to employees of private organizations when there is both a business opportunity as well as a public need for their provision. this is an issue for: commuters, fitness junkies, social services, and sexuality advocates (gay pride) who have made showers a transgender issue at the ymca when frankly - it is not one, whatsoever. there is only one answer: outdoor showers at the cost of 25 cents each, install the shower heads along a large wall (probably cmu) - and place a small 3'-4' pony wall behind them. this resolves all issues related to: transgender bathroom access, being smelly while living on the street, having a shower for cycling, and being able to work outside. a cost of 25 cents is appropriate for a 5 gallon shower as this is the cost of refilling that size of a water jug. a water jug refill spigot option needs to be available at the same location. downtown san diego already knows this - the exact design was built at the periscope project in earlyer 2010 or so, it works, it is in most 3rd world countries. san diego doesn't allow it on purpose because of bullshit special interests governed and perpetuated by self centered people feigning ignorance and the demeanor of fools. why do we not do this as a society? politics. people think it will lower the value of property, government knows that it will reduce the use of their social services, and people are generally self centered assholes who prefer to overcomplicate solutions when an obvious one is right in front of us. specifically - at john a davis - the wall that should be a shower is at the south west corner of park next door. should we have showers at our parks? - yes. will this result in people setting up tents and living in cars nearby. probably. this effort needs to be combined with the following: 3 parking spaces zoned live/work (that's 3*160sf = ~500sf) not adu's which do nothing to strengthen business or the economy, and not living in someone's garage or turning a home into another airbnb that outprices entry level wages or small business startup costs. so today - we subsidize these gyms through government programs that should not even exist. kroc is open earlier which is good for showers, but still not early enough - and their pool is much larger / deeper, but their locations are limited while the ymca gives access to a much larger number of location options. as a result of kroc we get high-rise low income housing with additional related subsidies in a highly congested area of the city, resulting int he centralization of additional social issues. higher density does not resolve problems, it exacerbates them and shifts the burden from a privatized solution to a public one. public solutions cost more, public solutions result in a lower overall quality of life. this is not debatable. both gyms have great equipment, neither have enough rowing machines which pushes individuals who do row towards the real thing or a rowing club which is generally fine and intentional as

I was a member here to use their gym before COVID hit and was pretty happy. It was on the smaller side but everything was always clean, no one was 95% naked and/or throwing weights around, it was just a nice change from your typical 24 hour fitness deal. I signed up again this month for their free January and convinced my partner to join as well due to my glowing praise based on previous experience. We showed up on a Sunday and it was closed. Come to find out that they close at 7PM on the weekdays, 1PM on Saturdays, and are not open on Sundays?? What the heck?? Check other YMCA hours and many also had horrible hours. Worst hours for a gym/fitness center I have ever seen. I called the front desk when they were open just to double check the hours because they were so out of the norm, and she said "yes, they are accurate, but other YMCAs in the county are open". Okay - so you have half the gyms open on that day and double the people? Yet you are still charging almost the exact same fee as pre-COVID for way less access across the county? No thanks.

The gym is pretty good for exercise, we found the "Diversity" statement they have posted in a few places sort of hilarious, looks like it was dictated to them by some progressive activist group.
