They're very professional (and courteous), but don't count on being able to access them by phone. I've not been able to for several years. NOTE: They weren't accepting applications last month, but now (January, 2025) they are ONCE again. And, they've ONCE AGAIN redone their application form!!

Diana Martinez Alvarez is an amazing worker. Her dedication and professionalism with my experience was great. I appreciate her and also appreciate the person who gave her the opportunity to provide assistance to others.

Visiting this office was very helpful; the staff members are extremely kind and accommodating, and they even aid people who speak in different dialects. To receive the help you require, all you need to do is bring in the necessary documents. You can return at a later time, and they will still accept the same application, so there's no reason to be unsatisfied about something you forgot or didn't bring. Once I got assistance with my bills, it really took a load of my back. I sincerely appreciate everyone who helped me!!!!!

ADVISE:Do not argue with the people at the window. If they tell you they need a document just provide it. They are here to make sure your application gets approved. If you refuse they will still take your application and it will not get approved. And you will be upset and have to reapply and do the whole process over again.

It’s really a good program, the only problem is they only help people who they feel like helping, because I certified mailed my application on 11/20/2023. I called them to check status no response from them yet, because they keep the phone on voicemail mode. Other than that I do recommend people to check your eligibility for assistance.

The worst. They’re absolutely siphoning government funds for HEAP. They made me jump through hoops for the energy assistance program. Filling out the application and then downloading and printing out all necessary documents took several days worth of time that I don’t have because I am a full time (24/7/365) caretaker for my elderly parents. The application clearly states that CalFresh’s verification of benefits qualifies under “common types of income” which I mailed in with my application. I don’t have paystubs because my full time job is elderly care for my parents which I don’t receive paychecks for. I made that clear, and they verified that CalFresh verification is proof of income.Weeks later, they wrote back telling me that my application for HEAP was denied because of “missing paycheck stubs.” They sent me another stack of application telling me that I have to re-apply and send in all new documents.Way to steal government funds intended for the people!

s we approaching 2024 year, I must say, it is hard to believe that most offices do not do their jobs.I called many times, nobody responded, and there is no voice mail option. This is a big city but nothing is working here.

They do not like to help low-income families at all. My disabled mother came into their office on Wilshire to submit papers to get help with our energy bill. When my mom called they told her to bring the rent receipt, incomes of the people in the home, energy bill, and social security ID. When she got there, customer service agent Jacob told her to bring in our full income from August. August is not over yet so we won't have proof of full income since we have not received a payment/check stub. Most helpful organizations/services will accept the most current stub as it shows a history of all checks year-to-date. We are renters and we showed him our renter receipts to prove that. He told us that PACE would not take her application if she didn't have proof of ownership. He was looking for a reason not to qualify her and did so too quickly without verifying all of her documents. When I called the PACE customer service number, I waited on hold for 21 minutes, and PACE hung up on me as soon as I became caller number one. PACE/HEAP made sure that they DO NOT take applications online for this location, which makes it harder for disabled people who need bill assistance to get the help that they need. This is completely discriminatory and unfair!

Really all you have to do on your part is to provide a couple of bills and wait. They offer assistance till the money runs out. So you have to get off your but and get to the office if you are to lazy to even do that then I don't know what to tell you.People giving 1 star to free assistance to pay your bills. Shame on you. If you snooze you lose.

I have been calling for Uber 2 hours straight every time I get to you're the next caller and line. The phone hangs up every time you can't get in contact with an operator cause they keep hanging up on you.
