It wasn't until I went home I became aware the owner swapped out my London Blue Topaz gemstone with a knock off.How do I know he swapped my gems?I had a matching earring set turned into a matching necklace and ring. At home I notice thr ring and the necklace stones NO LONGER MATCH!!!I got the matching London Blue Topaz gemstones from Byzantine Jewelry in Santa Cruz, where the owner there was very proud to sell me those gemstones straight from the Middle East - now its a no brainer why the owner of Yellow Brick Road STOLE MY GEMS. AND YES I WAS SCAMMED. I DID NOT KNOW HE SWITCHED THE STONES. BUYERS BEWARE DO NOT SHOP HERE. DO NOT BUY JEWELRY FROM A CROOK.The owner was quick and hasty to have me pick my ring setting. He left marring from his tools on my new ring, looks like a kid did it. Sloppy work and a scammer.Interesting how my previous review was mysteriously deleted off Google maps. This happened over 15 years ago, I honestly can't believe this crook is still in business.

I have known this place for years. They know their gems and jewelry and stand by everything they sell. They have a great variety of whatever you may be looking for and if you can't find it there, they will find it for you if available. Very accommodating owners and nice to do business with.

Such a lovely store run by a beautiful couple. Such a great selection of ornate jewelry. Dog friendly and extremely helpful. After months of searching we found 'the ring' and a fun side piece. So coming back again!

I went here to get a wedding ring because they seem to have not just a run-of-the-mill selection. When I saw the ring that I liked the owner and his partner or co-worker both agreed that the ring fit and they said so. A few months later I got married and one day while taking a shower the ring fell off. I went back to the store to get the ring resized; the owner wanted to charge me $300. I went home and thought about... Why do I have to pay if he told me it fit? I decided to speak to him about it when I went to pick it up. I told him that he had previously told me that the ring was a good fit. His response was that he gave me a good deal on the ring. Does that make sense? I mean, maybe he did give me a good deal but what does that have to do with the part where you told me the ring fit even though it didn't? The other part that bothered me was when he told me the charge was $399... What happened to the $300?? When I questioned this, he said the cost of gold had gone up. Two questions: 1. Gold went up 33% in the last four weeks? 2. What does the price of gold have to do with downsizing a ring? To me, integrity is everything. I won't be shopping here again.

Beware and Dishonest! I brought a small chain in and two tiny gold "stars" to convert into pierced earrings for xmas gifts my daughter. I told the repair guy (not Gary) that I only wanted to pay about $40 each for "repair". He took the items and gave me a claim check. He called the next day to tell me they were done. I asked him on the phone the cost of repair and he replied that , "he did not know". Red flag #1. Went into store to pick up repairs and saw repair prices and was pretty stunned given my years of jewelry experience. For a 1.5 inch extension chain that was paper thin gold Gary was trying to charge me $140! I quickly took the short piece of extension off and told him I did not have $140 to pay for that. On the star earrings, the pierced piece he added was not attractive at all and he again was charging me $130 for tiny baby studs that goes through the ear that I can buy for $20 elsewhere. I kindly asked him to please just give me back my stars and my original gold chain and he refused. Instead, Gary quickly grabbed the pieces and moved them behind the counter and said. "if you pay for my work, I'll return your pieces". It took Gary exactly 5 minutes to put the stars on a pierced or post earring as he did that while I waited. And no time to add an extension on my necklace as he used a tiny clasp. My friend Colette witnessed how long it took Gary to place the posts on the tiny stars and confirmed it took only 5 minutes. Gary's attitude and behavior suddenly declined into a threatening caged animal. The fact that Gary would try to steal or strongarm $270 from me for a few minutes of his time and then to withhold and keep my jewelry upon demand is still considered theft. Would NEVER go into this store again.

YELLOW BRICK ROAD IS STILL IN TOWN... Apparently they were forced out of their space after 28 YEARS. Given NO time by the Landlord to even try a fire sale. Just "get out". What kind of people do this to a Tenant of almost 30 years. BRUTAL. They were lucky enough to get a spot right on Santa Cruz Ave. The address is 59 N. Santa Cruz. GO.... go back.. or try it for the first time.. Just go!! Their collection of gorgeous "Firefly" jewelry is amazing..

I bought a 14kt gold chain here. I should have weighed it. It turns out the links are hollow. It is still my favorite chain, but it has broken twice and I've had to pay out of pocket to have it repaired.
