On a recent trip to Mendocino, our little poodle came down with some digestive issues and severe diarrhea. We were quite worried about her and started looking for a vet during normal business hours to check her out. Village Veterinary came to the rescue. Super friendly staff and Dr Novak quickly diagnosed the issue as pancreatitis, and prescribed treatment. If you need an accessible, caring vet in the Mendocino area, look no further than Village Veterinary! As an aside, the two vets in the Ft. Bragg area seemed almost annoyed that I tried to get them to look at our dog. Village Veterinary stands well above those others in service and care!

Village Veterinary really doesn't need this five-star review, because they have had a waiting list for new patients for a few years. The clinic's vets know that they can't take good care of their existing clientele if they keep taking on more people and animals, any more than a restaurant could keep piling people in when they're already out of tables or don't have enough servers -- or food. Dr. Novak is a wonderfully empathetic human being. At one point, she called me after we had lost our young dog in an unexpected and traumatic way, and listened and responded in an engaged way for about an hour. My recollection is that even though she called me, I was the one to sign off -- meaning she hadn't run out of patience and probably would still be listening if I hadn't ended the conversation. Having someone with that level of caring really helped us through it. Medical and veterinary care is limited out here on the coast, so there have been times we had to go to an emergency clinic for high tech diagnostics, complex lab testing, or late at night. We feel so lucky that we squeezed in under the wire and got into this practice! One of our dogs loves going; our younger one is going to have to learn how great she has it and how nice the people are on her own.

Waiting list, with what I would call no care attitude for new clients. I live in the area. I can't believe that they have more than enough business

They figured out my dog had a hip dislocation , they couldn't find a surgeon to replace the hip they wanted to cut the bone and make my dog lose the paw function and probably having chronic pain .they said they look until the Bay area for a surgeon with no success. My wife called Mendocino animal hospital in Ukiah ! And they had the right surgeon ready on the spot !!!Went back today because no appointment was available in other places . My dog and I left the place the same way we came in , they didn't do anything for us . Good luck with your pet if you choose this place.

Not from this area. My dog got injured, they would not help. Told to go out of area for help, like Santa Rosa, CA.

I've consistently had a positive experience with the staff over the past 2 years. My dogs have always been well cared for by Dr. Novak and her staff. (My dogs actually love going to Village Vet and seeing their human friends there, and have wanted to go inside when we were walking downtown, so if they could leave reviews of their own, they would also rate Village Vet highly!)

Had a 5 year old English bulldog. One night he went into anaphylaxis. Called emergency number for after hours vet. Answering service contacted them. They told us to take dog to Santa Rosa. They didn't even try to help him. He died in route. Anaphylaxis causes death even in humans in minutes.

The staff is highly competent and very friendly with people and animals. If your pet is sick or injured, they will seriously try to fit you in. I commute a to the next town because of their competence and commitment.

Went into the Village Veterinary for a itch shot for my dog. Very nice, didn't put down our regular vet. She was terrific with Duke and us.
