I love the clothes; comfortable and well made but over-priced. The main problem is that the posted store hours are more of a suggestion than a reality. Call ahead.

This location proved to be such a disappointment. I’ll never ever go back. Today is my mother’s 81st birthday and our family took a walk after brunch. It was 1:30pm a Saturday. At some point on our walk, my mother saw the store Cotton Basics and she liked a dress in the window. Upon arrival there was a sign in the door saying’Be back in 15 minutes’ No problem so my my mother, my daughter and I went to the store next door and to the coffee shop across the street. Sat and rested for 10 minutes and then went to the Piedmont grocery store next to Cotton Basics. This was about 30 minutes later and the sign was still in the window. Then we continued our walking tour and returned the third time. Still unopened. We walked home and I decided to try and surprise my mother and walk back to Piedmont Avenue alone. This time, sign STILL up but the lady employee was chomping on her food. The employee blew my mind. The door was locked and I knocked on the window. She waved me away and pointed at her mouth. I pointed at my watch and showed her 3 fingers trying to communicate I’d been before and it’s been a long time. She continued eating. I called the store three times before she picked up. I begged her to let me come in while she continued her food and I can check sizes on my own. I told her we were flying back home tomorrow and it was my mother’s birthday and she like the dress in the window and I needed a couple of white tee shirts. She ignored me! I even tried the customers should be considered routine but she said she could explain that she had to go to the bathroom and then still needed to eat and that she did not have any other sign to lit up saying she’d be back in one hour. I told her it has been more than an hour easy and to please keep eating but I really wanted to check sizing for what I wanted. Hence this review. I’m a little shocked this angered me so much. I am more shocked that this happed today and did not need to. It’s not there is a long line out the door waiting all day to get in….I hope you decide not to frequent this location. I hope the manager Rebecca will speak with this lady. Do better.

I went to the Oakland store yesterday. The sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable about the company and the clothes and sizes for sale. She is a great salesperson. I am now retired and would shop here for for casual basics, if you had my size. I realize small stores don't always have room for a wide spectrum of sizes. I'd be happy to go to the store to see what you have and then order my size online. Please add larger sizes to your line. I love the fact that you make your own clothes and would like to buy a capsule wardrobe from time to time for casual clothes to wear at home or on informal trips. According to Statista, "The market for U.S. plus-size apparel was valued at 24 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, up from 20.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2016." Further, Statista estimates that 68% of women wear size 14 and above. The "average" woman now wears size 16-18, not size 12 anymore. More retailers, such as Athleta, Eileen Fisher, H&M, and JJill are addressing the plus size market. Why would others eshew this market and miss the revenue associated with it?

I wish I could give this place a 0 stars! Extremely eccentric, weird service. They think of themselves as some superior brand store. Here is thing, it's just an ordinary store with extremely lame quality products, staff is even the worst! I think I am mostly annoyed because of the super rude counter lady, who thinks she is very smart. She comes out like a jerk, annoying person.

Omg this was my first time here as there are no cotton clothes anywhere. I would ha e to say that a big part of my success there was the young woman working there, Emma. She helped me with sizes and styles to compliment and fit me. Unfortunately it seems that many of the items are geared more toward smaller women. I'm about a size 10-12 with bigger boobs so ahhhhh... go figure. I ended up with cotton high waisted leggings (better than Lulemon ) and great tank tops with "shelf" bra. Actually going back today to get some fir my mom! 20% off right now!
