I was scared to death to do my first workout. But, I cannot express the welcoming community feeling that vibes throughout the entire workout. It’s been life changing for me

The Queer Gym has been such a game changer for me! The combination of live classes, discounts if I reach 12 classes each month, and the community have helped me consistently workout 3x/week since mid-January 2024. I feel so much better about myself and am proud of the work I've put in. It's been years (pre-COVID) since I've had a consistent workout routine and I love that going to The Queer Gym means I can workout in my own home. I cannot recommend this gym enough!!

The Queer Gym is the best group workout experience I have yet to have! Five reasons why it’s the best: 1) Supportive Coaches: Coach Taylor and Coach Nat are supportive, welcoming, and will give you a push when you need it, 2) Working out online fits into my busy schedule. The 6am workouts can be hard to get up for but afterwards I feel ready to take on the day and my workout is done. 3) Working out with Queers, finding an all inclusive gym these days is rare so to workout with queers across the country is so much fun 4) Accountability & Community: It’s more than just a gym, it’s a community and not only do I show up formyself but I show up because I made commitment to my peers and coaches, and lastly 5) Because it’s fun: I used to have to think of circuits and working out my own can be okay, but my mentality is all about team and to be honest, I’m having fun challenging myself, I feel motivated and want to workout on my non-Queer Gym workout days!

I absolutely love the Queer Gym! I have always had trouble staying consistent and the Queer Gym has definitely helped with this issue. Coach Nat and Coach Taylor motivate me through each workout and I love that although they are not physically there with me but through zoom they are still pushing me and give me tips to improve my workouts. I was one of those people that signed up to go to the gym and just never went. The Queer gym has definitely made me feel so comfortable and makes me hold myself accountable. For a few days my shoulder was giving me some issues, Coach Nat helped me with advice to recover faster and even gave me modifications on certain workouts so I dont mess up my shoulder more.I know many might feel a bit anxious about joining a virtual gym, Yes, it can be very scary but the community that Coach Nat has built is amazing. We all push each other to finish another rep and we are always cheering each other on.I have been with the Queer Gym for four months already and lost 11 pounds!!!!!!!! I am so pumped and thankful for all the support. Honestly Coach Nat has a lot of knowledge to give and she loves answering questions about nutrition so that has also impacted the way I eat now.I cannot recommend it enough. You will definitely feel comfortable and like you have another family.

I signed up because it was “geared” towards adults with any limitations and was virtual, no need to compromise your already busy schedule. Having multiple injuries/disabilities and a tight schedule as a business owner myself, this seemed like a great fit. The concepts were the only good part about this. The “coach” sits there at a computer and watches. Does not “lead” the group or participate and can barely do these supposed exercises herself. These “work outs” are mostly just rolling around on the floor. No really, you are rolling around on the floor most of the time. Absurd for people with physical limitations. Classes are constantly being canceled for lack of attendance (wonder why!) so your choices of times are severely limited. I only stuck it out for one month because I had paid for it.Canceled before the new months charges and was charged anyways. Was told they didn’t get my cancellation e-mail. Even though I messaged the owner directly FIRST to tell her I wasn't going to be renewing. She had someone else do her dirty work through email refusing to refund for services not rendered. Had they not swindled me out of another 200$ I wouldn’t even be leaving a review. Its not for everyone and that would have been fine by me. But you absolutely do not charge someone without services rendered. And the term service is loose at best. You’d be better off getting on face time with a friend and just pulling things out of a hat, as thats literally all this “class” was. She didn't even know what she was doing till it came out of her mouth in each session.

My partner and I joined with different levels of physical capability -- He's has a high percentage of body fat, and has not consistently moved in years, whilst I have a background of exercise and eating healthily. The Queer Gym has accommodated our very different bodies and goals beautifully. My partner is steadily learning how to be healthier and more mobile, with a gentle hand and no pressure on weight loss. He feels comfortable going to online workouts, since there are many people who have the same body as him, and they are able to do modified/easier sets. It's hard to be a fat person and feel comfortable at the gym; diet and exercise culture is the most toxic and judgmental to fat folk, but we haven't gotten any vibes of that here.I, on the other hand, am given a more hardcore regimen. I'm given modified sets during workouts that push me to further limits, have been taught how to manage my food macros and calories, and enjoy the 24/7 chat support for all of my random fitness questions. I've lost 12 pounds in two months, and am in the best shape of my life. I recently got an injury from pushing myself too hard during an exercise, and Nat has been active in checking on me and helping me recover. It's been a great experience. There are very few options offered to you if you're queer, and want a gym that understands your identity without explanation. $200/month has been well worth it for me, for the 24/7 chat support on the app, the weekly zoom check-ups, and the many online workouts I attend weekly. There are places that are more expensive or less flexible.

Beware! This is a scam. There were too few classes available for my schedule. The sales rep, Nat, had a virtual assistant that made random appointments every time I reached out and I was inundated with texts and emails. However, Nat only spoke to me once and never checked in as she said she would, nor returned any of my attempts to reach her. I had to cancel my membership a week before it started because I could not get any of the benefits promised me. They would not refund anything though it was verbally promised.Don't do it. Find friends and use YouTube. Your bank account and body will thank you.

I loved the QueerGym but at the end of 2023 the owner dropped the entire staff and took over running things all by herself. She never participated in the business outside of sales and even then was always aggressive and only got me because I was so hopeful that I could get something good from this community. I did, as I originally reviewed. However, that was entirely the work of the coaches and thank goodness for them. Don’t share your money and time with this company that so uncaringly left a path of distraction and harm to LGBTQIA* fam both staff and clients alike. She continues to do harm and gaslight those she’s left in the dust as she continues to be a bully and terrible business owner who only cares about and looks out for herself.

Please, don't ignore the bad reviews like I did. They're legit and this company has not changed as the owner still sees herself as the victim and not the cause of all of this. I'm writing this in hopes that she doesn't have another opportunity to capitalize on the skills, talents, and abilities of more BIPOC coaches like myself and the other coaches I had the honor and joy of being on a team with.I worked at the Queer Gym from September 2023 through December 2024.When I started here, the other coaches were AMAZING. You could just feel the bond between them. Nat spent my first uncomfortable company meeting berating the team and saying that she would be writing up coaches who didn't reach their KPIs, and stressing to us that our jobs were based solely on those numbers. Shortly thereafter, I realized the team's bond was around building each other back up and speaking life into each other after being told we don't do and are bad at our jobs. I realized that she pretended to care about us and our members, but in reality, all she cared about was money. The estimations she gives sales and training coaches for pay are based on numbers the gym never sees. She says the memberships are so expensive because she pays coaches liveable wages, but none of us were able to make ends meet. If you leave they say "You care more about money than helping people".Our schedule was not flexible at all. We worked 9-hour days 5 times each week on days she chose. They told us to take breaks, but then filled every space on our calendars with busy work so we couldn't.The turnover rate with coaches was ridiculous and they fired people without warning event though they knew for weeks they would. When you address this with them, they gaslight you and tell you people left or "their values no longer aligned" and are so confused as to why you think your job is on the line.Nat asks personal and invasive questions that violate company policies some of which are very explicit. She calls on people and gets irritated when you tell her it's personal and she shouldn't ask this. She has a history of mistreating BIPOC coaches. We didn't get paid for classes, but mine were popular and she consistently put me on the schedule teaching sometimes double the amount of classes as white coaches with no pay. She refused to institute a scholarship to reach marginalized folx who couldn't pay her ridiculous monthly fees. They DO NOT offer accommodations. To anyone. The values that pull you into this space Nat doesn't even believe in. That's why on one hand she says she's fat-affirming and "not a weight loss program", but on the other she's posting weight loss photos that she didn't even ask permission to use.

I joined The Queer Gym after my partner joined because they absolutely adored their coach and I needed some place that I didn’t feel like a number. I loved the community and the coaches but it stops there. I left after 3 months (I signed up for the 6 week program twice- my first 6 weeks was messy at best and that should have been my first clue….) I decided after my second 6 weeks that I could not justify the cost for both me and my partner, so I bowed out.Something never sat right with me about the gym. But I couldn’t put my finger on it. I never interacted with the owner- but she would pop in on workouts and hang outs. There are also “ghosting fees”. If you don’t cancel a workout or miss a call with your coach- you are charged a fee and it doesn’t matter the reason. So on top of charging $200/month for workouts you also get charged MORE if you don’t show up to a workout. My partner remained with the gym and struggled when they were moved from their original coach to other coaches without any warning or explanation. If there were issues they would reach out and not get a response from their coach. We frustrated and annoyed… BUT it later came out (when the owner fired all the coaches days before Christmas) that the absurd amount we were paying and thought was going to the coaches in fact was not. It has come out the coaches were paid terribly, treated even worse, all while the owners pockets were padded.Don’t even think about trying to call the owner out for her terrible business practices- she will block you. Instead of facing the heat she created- she cowers in the corner. Save yourself the $ and find an actual real supportive gym with a decent human being as owner.

When I joined infrom April to July of 2023 I invested my money, time, and energy into the queer gym. I attended specific classes with specific coaches 3-5x/week so I had great results. HOWEVER I then fell into financial hardship in July, and instead of being understanding when I reached out about cancelling, the conversation was drawn out til I was charged. Then they refused to return my money to me, even though I did not redeem any classes from the charge, staying I didn't actually ask to cancel even though I said I had no money but okay. I'm a single parent and you stole grocery and heating money but let's get into semantics about how I phrased my cancelation. Then coach Nat leaves me on read before blocking me. Then she went and changed the entire program and fired most of her staff right before Christmas after not only mistreating them, but not even paying them fairly.Avoid the queer gym it's not the space they claim to be. Nat stole all her verbiage from other people who are far more genuine and talented than she.

I worked here for close to a year. From Feb 15-Dec 21 2023. My co-workers? Amazing. Leadership? Horrible. Selfish. Toxic, abusive, and racist towards my BIPOC coworkers. I worked 45 hour weeks, and was severely underpaid. My last paycheck was $800 which INCLUDED a christmas bonus and benefit stipend.Example of toxic workplace: (TW: suicide) I had a client that I was on the phone with who was driving during our call and told me she was going to off herself right then and there. I rushed her off the phone to call 988. I told my bosses about this and NOTHING was done. Absolutely NOTHING. In fact, I was told to "lean in" and to not let this scare me off. When she quit the gym due to mental health issues (understandable, her priority should have been keeping herself alive, not making it to her workouts, I was reprimanded for her low work out compliance and retention. This client was unqualified to begin with. They didn't care. They took advantage of her, told her we could help, and took her money.(End of TW)Speaking of Christmas, I (and the other 2 full time employees) was let go 4 days before. Due to "a restructure of the business as a whole." The "severance" given was 8 days of pay, I was denied unemployment, and then sent an email that said I was a no-call no-show to work on Dec 24th... um, you fired me?? And I have that in writing??Beware of Nathalie Huerta and her BFF (Director of Operations) Christina Prieto. They will take your money. And they will turn on you and say you "lack accountability."

I joined The Queer Gym after getting an ad on social media shortly after my partner died. I was looking for community and for a way to improve my health, and TQG seemed like a friendly and inclusive way for me to work out from home and make some new friends. I understood that the high cost I was paying in gym dues was because staff were being paid well and investments were being made to always improve the business and culture of the gym. Unfortunately what I didn't know was that there were many unethical practices happening behind the scenes. Coaches being underpaid and held to near impossible KPIs, clients being sold with predatory business practices, and ultimately, a mass lay-off of a majority of employees only a few days before Christmas. I immediately requested a refund of the renewal fees I had paid only a month before, and I have now received the refund. It sounds like other clients are still waiting for their refunds, however, because TQG is not wanting to lose any money they've made on their alleged lies. The new version on TQG is a shadow of what they claim to be, and I would not recommend them to any friends of mine. I love the community but do not like or agree with the practices of the owner and upper management.

Firstly- I’d seen the advertisements for years but when I joined in September it felt like they were a brand new business. The joining process is predatory- I was pressured into giving a “deposit” during my sticker shock because I stated I couldn’t afford to join and was convinced to ask my parents for the remainder. It felt I was the first person they offered this to because the system constantly sent me incorrect emails, my timing was messed up etc. The coaches (who there are currently ZERO of as the majority were fired 3 days before Christmas and the others left due to horrible working conditions and management) did work hard and were fun but they were clearly overworked and underpaid despite repeated claims that the majority of the $600 I paid for 6 weeks was “going to them”. I have since discovered they were not paid for teaching classes as that was “part of their job” and were dinged for things such as clients not having cameras on during their workouts, despite again being told by management and your personal coach that it was NOT a requirement- which most of the vulnerable population the gym is advertised to do not feel comfortable doing. I desperately wanted this to be a good place for me and for our community but I cannot let another vulnerable person be taken in and damaged by this company.

Incredibly welcoming, the coaches led awesome fitness classes and always gave live feedback and alterations when I couldn't do a move. They've done such a great job creating a safe and friendly environment for people to focus on their health.
