I would recommend this Walmart Neighborhood market for its easy access location along with good selection of name brand food items are very competitive prices. Remember, this is Walmart, and the customer service is always hit, and miss. I do appreciate the selection, along with the extremely competitive prices. If you desire full service I would recommend Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, or Gelson's. For great prices, and a nice selection, it's Walmart Neighborhood Market.

There are a handful of products that are reasonably priced and hard to find at many other grocery stores. The biggest issue here is the lack of customer service. If my favorite grocery store (Ralph's) was closer to me, I would never set foot in here. It's all self serve except for one cashier. Truly inconvenient. Not to mention, if you have a return for any reason, always expect an unhappy cashier who never smiles. All of the employees look glum and never acknowledge customers. It's Walmart. I guess it should be expected.

Typical Walmart, empty shelves, unhelpful employees. At least they're consistent. The Walmart Neighborhood Market on Fred Waring and Jefferson (Indio), is a much better shopping experience.

I believe many are confusing this Walmart Neighborhood Market with the big Walmart on Monterey near the 10 Freeway. This review is for the Walmart supermarket on 111 near Whole Foods. Reality is this happens to be an exceptional place to shop as long as you clearly understand what it is all about. Originally when I discovered food shopping in the Coachella Valley I favored the elite markets. However, I have recently learned to realize that this is really a perfect store, my go to place for groceries. Why? 1. Fruits and vegetables are fresher and better quality than any other market within a 10 mile radius. Everything is farm fresh, firm and just picked. 2. Produce prices are the best in town. Made a French onion tart yesterday with amazing yellow onions at 56 cents a pound. Always buy flawless cilantro here for 52 cents. Love when I get high quality at a great price. 3. Auto self scan checkout is brilliant. It is the easiest self check out on Earth and they have tons of them. I am out of here in a couple of minutes. 4. Lots of nice helpful employees. When I can't find something there is ALWAYS someone to help me out. 5. Decent quality meat department. 6. Great parking all around the facility. 7. Numerous specialty products at bargain prices. Example: Duck Fat spray. I use it as a non-stick spray when cooking. Typically sold in gourmet shops for $14-16. At Walmart it is under $10. 8. Their own brand products are excellent. Right now I'm drinking their tonic water at 78 cents a bottle. Might be the best tonic water one can buy. 9. Exceptional well-priced spice aisle. Not every department is perfect nor can you buy everything you need here. I wish they had a better bakery, more bread options. The wine/liquor department could use an upgrade. Definitely not my go to place for booze. Clearly Walmart knew what they were doing when they opened this place. Clearly they studied the demographics of whom shops in this part of Palm Desert. Everytime I come here I find one more thing I love about this market. Just understand that you won't get the options here which you find at an Albertsons and/or a Ralphs. However, what you do find is of exceptional quality at an amazing price.

Walmart Super Store on Montaray in Palm Desert Ca. SUCKS........ Your on surveillance walking in Your under surveillance while shopping.... Your video recorded while checking out your your own groceries ...and PAYING FOR YOUR BAGS...... You walk through a scanning device walking out. You have something not rang up before leaving ALARM goes off. And now they want to STOP YOU AND CHECK OUT YOUR RECEIPT..,, Not mark your receipt like Sam's Club. Not electronically scan your receipt A person standing at the exit wants to (Get this) LOOK at YOUR RECEIPT.... I ask the guy stopping customers on there way out "What's the purpose of stopping customers and looking at at our receipts"? He said "I'm just doing my Job" In other words He had No idea why he was doing what he was doing. It was like dealing with the Scare Crow in the Wizard of Oz.....if I only had a Brain What a BUNCH BULL---T WALMART SUCKS....... I wouldn't give this place One Star... but it's the only way you can post a review.... I totally understand NOW why other questions that are asked like "Is Walmart GREEDY" or "Is Walmart EVIL" is it? Vanessa, the pharmacist who helped me yesterday, deserves high praise. I came in with an emergency. My leg was bleeding badly due to a poorly bandaged biopsy at the dermatologist. Although she initially dropped everything to calmly help me get cleaned up--providing me with wet paper towels, wipes, and a larger bandage to contain the bleeding--she was also deft in handling the clients who were in line for their prescriptions. I had been unaware of my problem until just before I entered the store for orange juice, due to feeling faint. I had also intended to fill an Rx of my own, which she took care of quickly and kindly. Vanessa helped calm me, since I was shaken and in a mild state of shock. She went far and above the scope of her responsibilities, and I'm deeply grateful. I go out of my way to shop at this store because of the helpful, neighborhood vibe there.

I am so disappointed. I lost my phone and left my phone number. I called twice to see if anyone turned it in. Then I went in the next day and they had it there an no one had called me. Very frustrating.

I'm giving this store 5 stars because the amount of racism from customers to the workers was beyond me and how much I witnessed when I visited today. Nothing but old white ladies talking down to the workers thinking they don't speak English because of their skin tone!! It amazed me and it's truly disgusting. I feel so bad for the worker that experienced that today.

MARQUITA needs to be fired ASAP! Never in my life have I been so unapologetically disrespected, especially as a paying customer! I had bought a can of beer that is $2.99 and was overcharged. They rang it up as $7.97. It's only a $5 difference, but still it's the principle! If I was going to be charged $8 for one single beer, I would've just bought a 6-pack and made it worth it. I came back with the receipt. Marquita and another employee, Enrique, were standing behind the customer service counter completely ignoring my presence. After waiting a couple minutes and realizing they weren't going to help me but just keep standing there behind the counter occasionally watching to see if I was still there, I ended up flagging down help from an associate on the floor. That associate ended up getting the attention of Enrique whom was blatantly ignoring me. Enrique rolls his eyes, walks up to me after being forced to, and begins berating me in front of other customers at how he gets numerous people coming up to him with their complaints all day long and I'm just another one on the list. I reminded him how I'm a loyal customer and he literally replied "Yeah, that's what they all say." It seems as if this guy already had some hidden anger towards me before he even helped me. After getting nowhere with him, I request to speak to his supervisor. His supervision, MARQUITA, was even worse! She finally comes over, berates me, talks down to me, hardly lets me even get in a word or explain my situation. She simply stated that in order to give me any kind of refund, I need to have the original product. Fair enough. I go home, retrieve the product, then come back to deal with Marquita for the second time and then she tells me she can't refund me at all as the law prohibits any kind of refunds on alcoholic beverages. I don't understand why it took 3 employees and a second trip back to the store to finally get that answer, but that's where it was. She then told me if I didn't like it, I could call customer service and leave the store. So all in all, Wal-Mart overcharged me by more than double, and when I bring the product and receipt back for a fair refund of the difference, get harassed, berated, talked down to, ran around in circles only to be told "Sorry about it". These employees obviously had zero clear intent on helping me from the start and must be that miserable at their jobs they have to be taking it out on fair loyal customers that only crime was choosing to spend their money at Wal-Mart to begin with.

This store has become so rude after the first store manager left, Richard Becerra. Now Mariel who refuses to give her last name, well she is now the store manager. She hires rude employees who won't give out their names, and they also hang up the phone on people. And then if you complain in person then employees like Erika want to call the police on their customers for over charges that they have done. See you in court Erika!

They REALLY need to work on their customer service. There is about 3 workers that are genuinely nice when I go, but everyone else ESPECIALLY management is another story. Management looks like they hate their job every time you ask them for something, and the worst part is when you have to ask for an employee to open the doors for cosmetics. Every single time I have to wait 20 minutes for someone with "keys" to open it, while other employees see me waiting, and don't ask if I am ok or need assistance. They go on and say that only one person has keys - so why not have that individual close by during their shift? And to top it off, when they do come to finally open the doors, they look like they hate life as well and give you dirty looks. Wishing corporate would read more of their reviews and do something about it and get new management. And I know that I am not the only one who doesn't see the misery in their management team.

How hasn't Dorothy contracted COVID-19 wearing the mask like this by now? And then still has the god damn nerve to talk back to me saying that "i'M sIx FeEt AwAy FrOm YoU". This isn't the first complaint about this nutcase from a different person. ? She should be fired by now for not following safety regulations.

The worst employees and management ever! The employees bark orders at you rudely to ensure you follow the store's coronavirus guidelines, yet the employees cannot even follow the county's guidelines themselves. In fact, when I mentioned to Dorothy (the customer service manager) that the county requires mouths and noses to be covered, she told me that the rule did not apply to her because she had a tiny piece of plastic on top of her register. When I tried to explain to her that there was no exception if you have some plastic on your register, she got extremely nasty with me. She ended up shooing me away with her hand and just telling me "bye, bye, bye" repeatedly until I left. This person is the CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER?! Seriously?? This store management has no concern for the safety of its customers, and has no interest in providing customer service to anyone. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
