Had my first experience with Safeway at Sonoma Mountain Parkway in Petaluma.I was looking for Manicotti shells. I looked in Petaluma Market, WHole Foods, and Safeway on South McDowell. No joy!Another google search led me to Safeway at Sonoma Mountain Parkway. I called their customer service. The phone was answered by Sabrina, she asked me how many packages I wanted, then asked me to hold while she checked. When she returned she told me they would be at Customer Service with my name on it. I asked where Customer Service was and one of the staff pointed to a point across the store. There was no one at the desk, but I found my packages, checked out, and went home to make my first-ever manicotti.I hope someone will tell Sabrina "thank you very much".She's the first person at a Petaluma Safeway that I've reviewed.I'll be going to her Safeway store first from now on!

I drive out of my town to this safeway. The prices are a bit high, but the store is always stocked, clean and employees are friendly. I love it

Went here on a Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. first that experience was ordering Chinese food from the hot food bar. I asked for the fried rice she said it was bad although it was still in the case so I opted for chow mein. It along with the sweet and sour chicken was awful . Then ask butcher for some meaty bacon, and he described right from the back without looking at any others. To top it all off as I was eating some of the chow mein in my car in the parking lot the Lady who served my Chinese food came out like she was leaving and spit a big loogie 20 ft from my car.

Aremi in the bakery was so sweet and helpful with my son's birthday cupcake-cake order. She went above and beyond to personalize it and created just what he wanted. She was such a bright, smiling, kind person and it made my day. Thank you Aremi!

So, I usually shop at the other Safeway but stopped by here today. So glad I did. First- the parking lot is not filled with panhandlers like the other one, and there were actually spaces available. The store itself is not "better" than the other one- but I was lucky enough to get in Marshall's line. This young man was amazing. He was beaming ear to ear & so excited to tell everyone that his sister just got engaged & he could not be happier. It showed, he literally couldn't contain himself & it caught me so off guard I started to tear up myself just seeing how genuinely happy he was. It was contagious. So, thanks Marshall, congrats to your sister & her fiancé- and Safeway, you've just gained a new, loyal customer.

This has quickly become one of my least favorite grocery stores. The first thing you will experience when you shop here is that there are always long lines to check out. I get there are labor shortages, but other stores face the same labor shortages and still don't have long check out lines like this. The second bad thing about this store is the produce section. They have an extremely limited amount of produce, especially in their organic section. Its basically a few apples and bananas. The prices at this Safeway are also unusually high. I would expect prices like this at Oliver's or Whole Foods, but not at a subpar Safeway. Lastly, this may not have anything to do with the Safeway, but anytime I am in the parking lot the internet on my phone dies and all my apps stop working. Which reminds me, the only good thing I can think of is that there is lots of parking. Probably because people aren't too keen to shop here.

All of the employee interactions I've had at this Safeway have been very pleasant! Especially the lady who always works express line. She told me about these mask inserts that helps keep cloth masks from like getting on your lips or mouth. Today when I went the debit/credit machines were down (nightmare) but all the employees were soooooo nice and just took it in stride. I'm sure they had tons of people being grumpy at them for reasons beyond their control, but they were still so nice and provided A+ customer service. This is my favorite Safeway and the only one I go to (even though that other Safeway in town is huge.)

When you have a limited time for lunch, I do not recommend using their deli. Came in today between 12 noon and 1 PM and there was nobody working the deli counter. No problem getting sushi, or Chinese food but any of the other hot foods no one was available to help me out.

We're fairly new to Northern California as a whole, so we're still trying to find a grocery store that meets all of our needs. We're kind of loyalists to grocery stores once we find one we like. When we first pulled up to Safeway, we were excited because it's situated in such a nice looking neighborhood but, once parked, things changed. When I took out my two year old, we were immediately hit by the smell of cigarettes. It was only then I noticed the employees, either on a break or leaving/arriving, standing near a car across from me smoking... in the parking lot... close to the front of the store. I do not have a problem with people smoking, I can choose where to take my child to avoid it. But employees? It's just not a good look and doesn't represent the store well. Next, because this is how things go when potty training, I had to make a quick trip to the bathroom to change the little one. It's one of those one person bathrooms where you lock the door behind you. I wasn't in there a full minute before someone started banging on the door. Not knocking- banging- and then yelled, "Is somebody in there?!" to which I replied, "yes." Her next way-too-loud-for-public comment was, "JESUS! MY GOD!" (I can only assume now she yelled this as she stormed away). I seriously considered how long I should stay in the bathroom before I could safely exit with my son. This can't be the behavior of a normally functioning adult, can it? Did she storm away? Was she just quietly waiting? When we came out and everything seemed safe we got the groceries and flowers for our oldest's wonderful teachers that we had originally come for and made our way out. They do have quite a lovely selection of precut flowers and, although priced a little high, were beautiful. The groceries were also overpriced, though, and that's not okay. Especially if your Safeway store doesn't feel all that safe. We would have left after the bathroom incident but I didn't have time to stop anywhere else before pick up and I promised my son we could give his teachers flowers today. We will keep looking for a grocery store we can go to where we are comfortable shopping.

Horrid people. Went in today after putting our dog to sleep and I was in tears. My husband was buying some beer and the young brat checking us out asks for MY ID even though my husband was paying and I was just next to him holding his hand, in tears. I tell the snotty little thing that I don't have my ID on me, but I'm not making the purchase. Get this. My husband WORKED at Safeway last year and he even said, "you don't need her ID, you just need my birthdate." I left the store because I was feeling too heartbroken to deal with this BS. I call later and the manager informs me it's store policy. IT IS NOT. An employee saw another human being in tears, and decided to try and make their day harder. WILL NEVER SHOP A SAFEWAY AGAIN. Might I mention my husband is 45 and I am 40 years old.

Super helpful and cool staff. Really well organized in a way that makes sense. There's a dude in their with a sweet Grateful Dead mask and deadheads are always some of the nicest people to meet! Left me with a smile on my face!

Not a fan of grocery shopping but this Safeway makes it bearable. It's well laid out, organized and clean. The Meat Dept staff always speak to me. The dairy guys interacted and asked today if I needed help. This was nice because so often grocery store staff seem to run the other way if you need assistance. I had some issues at the self check out counter today and the staff person named Noah today was extremely helpful. He had to keep coming back because I have a lot of clearance items and one item rang up wrong that was on sale. He issued a refund and was cordial friendly and just the right amount of chatty. I appreciate his friendly competence on a day where tensions are high with waiting on election results and the pandemic counts high in Sonoma County.

What a nice place to shop. Super friendly staff at the stores doors. They welcomed me with a clean cart and friendly staff. The store has a great selection of products and it priced well.
