Do not go to this location! I would give minus stars if I could. The general manager Jose Aguilar was rude and patronizing. He charged us over $400 for a ding in the front window that was already there. And was among other splotches on the window caused by insects or birds. He would not try to remedy the situation or allow us to talk to anyone else and would not give us his business card and then he told us to leave his premises. Awful experience. Uhaul made a awful situation of moving during a lockdown worse. We will never use uhaul Again!

My husband returned a truck from a long distance move. I realize they check for damage. But my buddies in Chi City Uhaul on Halsted are my homies. Y'all know I take video and photos and take out insurance. Keep all receipts. Pro tip: Before you rent ANY UHaul. Take video on the site of the entire truck the day you rent. Also take a picture of the speedometer. You're only allowed to upload a few pictures, so video and your xtra photos will prevent their hustle. Shout out to my homies Uhaul on Halsted!

Unaware of my rental, slow to get the truck ready, and they seemed completely clueless about any online rental processes. (This was the first time). The second time was even worse, with employees who had a rude and harsh tone, and what I feel was false advertising and outright dishonesty about a very minor refund. I would not recommend this uhaul location to anyone...ever.

**WARNING** DO NOT reserve or rent from this location. Early Saturday morning pick up for a truck. I used the on line to check in. Over 1 hour in line on a Saturday morning where there were only 3 people in front of me. Poor young lady - 1 person to take care of EVERYTHING! Not her fault, but poor management in staffing a store on a summer weekend, busy weekend for moving. Please do not rent from this place.

Stress less when Jose helps you at U-Haul in Poway!!! Moving can be a bitch but Jose makes it SUPER FAST WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. The price was wonderful to and I forgot to inspect the new truck but he believed us when we explained that we did not scratch the truck as it had a little scratch. He made things simple in a already hectic day. I will be moving out my house completely next weekend and IM DEFINITELY GOING BACK TO POWAY U-HAUL!!!

GROSS INCOMPETENCE AND FORGOT MY CONTRACT ADDITIONS (USE ANOTHER U-HAUL BRANCH IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE) Walked in to get my U-Haul as told by the manager I talked to a week before. Waited in line with eight plus customers behind me. Talked with U-Haul Owner plus another U- Haul employee. Both heard me and walked away. I was less than three feet away from both gentlemen. Both did not service me but serviced the other eight customers after me. A complete disrespect of my time. As I told the employee who I talked to about my disatisfaction, he told me to get back in line and start over at the end of the line. An hour later, I get to the front. I talk to another service representative who could not process my credit card but could process all the other credit card orders ahead of me. Then, to add fuel to the fire, I finally get my U-Haul, the service reps forgot my dolly which was stipulated in my contract and gave me a half tanked U-Haul. Crappy Service of the lowest denominator. There are many great U-Haul branches who value customer care, this is not one of them. Finally talked to a competent manager who was off duty an hour and a half later after all this garbage happened. This U-Haul branch is a joke, avoid if possible to keep your sanity.

Horable check in experience! No room for parking outside. For no reason other than trying to send him a link the guy that was behind me is now at the desk getting his truck. No such thing as Express checkin. I got here at 11 and its now 1149 and only 2 people have been helped. 4 people left to do business elsewhere.

Basically their back end system is trash. We pre-booked a truck and arrived and they didn't have it. Thankful there was a neighborhood one down the street that had the size truck we need but then didn't have the mattress cover we ordered or any of the moving pads. The employees were nice but it's frustrating to pre book something that isn't available or in stock.

If I could give -5 stars I would absolutely do so! I live in Poway so giving business back to poway business owners is important to me as a business owner myself but this store has many issues that have been on going for years nothing has changed! I called in last Tuesday to make an appointment to put on a tow package to pull jet skis and the man on the phone said he can book me for Saturday at 1:00pm and would need a credit card number to charge a mandatory fee of $50.00 to order the hitch and wiring for lights. I show up early and find what while my CC wasn't charged the hitch wasn't ordered nor was an appointment made. I was furious as I stayed back from a friends bridal shower in LA to get this hitch placed. I stood in a long line with 2 people working and after 40 min wait time I was helped by the female GM and even then she was walking away to help the other worker with questions which kept me longer then I wanted. They couldn't answer their own phones always being answered by call centers. Steve who is the owner had to stop working on someone's truck hitch to come inside and help. I didn't even know he was the owner when i went to ask him if I was scheduled or if he received a hitch for my vehicle he said IDK go inside they can help you... After 40 min wait I asked the GM to call me with a date and time for the install she said let me check other stores and I'll call you back. Well guess what?? Never heard back !!!! This is awful service and extremely under staffed. I'm upset for the lack of quality and concern they truly have for customers. I won't be coming back!

Terrible location. Horrific service. Nobody helps, stood inside for 20 minutes without any employee coming in. Just trying to drop off a trailer. The sign outside said wait with your equipment but people kept going in and nobody was outside to assist. Apparently there was only 1 worker available. Everyone else was maintenance or mechanic. Go elsewhere.

Manager was nice that's the only good thing. They charged me twice! False advertising as well. Spent over 100$ on a small move that was under 2 and a half hours. Had to call and almost fight for my money back. Also if you are returning the truck after store hours don't even waste your time trying to sign in on their website that they tell u about, because it did not work. Just call costumer service.

"Dessii" or as her official business cards states, Desiree Mcalear, was not of any help to us today. As the general manager of this location you would think she would do something other than "at this point I'm going to refund you, that's what I'm going to do". I made a quote with this location in regards to installation of a tow-hitch 2 weeks ago & 5 days ago called to make the appointment. Upon making that appointment my father was charged $47 in order for U-Haul to actually order the parts. I was emailed a receipt including the date and time of the installation & a description of all that would be included in this installation. Today is the day! Saturday, January 12th, 12:00pm. I show up, first she has me sign an agreement for the wrong vehicle. I had to stop her after she discussed with me a trunk when this isn't a car we are having it installed on it is a truck... ok weird start. But then... basically without any communication to myself she says they don't have the part & they don't know when they will be able to get the part. She provided us no other solutions, seemed to be upset with us even though a phone call to us prior to the installation date would have remedied the situation. Then proceeds to take 20 minutes to issue us a refund while again seeming upset with us. When the phone call would have resolved all of this she claims that other people were supposed to call us when in fact she's the one to state she was handling the situation herself, why didn't she call us? She even told us that this was a partial reservation, she might've used a different phrasing, when in fact I have an email stating my installation date. She claimed that when the phone rings four times it goes to the call center which is why she doesn't know the person who made the original installation appointment. Once again, as a general manager, no matter how upset we may seem, considering the one day my dad has off to get this installed was today, & we had a million other things to do, I believe it was her responsibility to not only address the issue, oh and the fact that we should have received a phone call prior to this date, and done something to alleviate the problem at hand. She sat on the phone without addressing us for at least 15 minutes and it took my father interrupting her to find out what is going on. In my opinion worst customer service I've experienced in a very long time especially coming from the general manager. I will be contacting corporate to make sure this matter is resolved and understood because in my opinion this is unacceptable considering this is has been a two week process and the only phone call to have been made was by me. Do not come here got your toe-hitch needs!!

Ordered a hitch online to be installed and picked a date a week out to get it installed. Showed up this morning to get it installed and the hitch has not arrived and is on a truck in Rialto. No phone or email to let me know the part hadn't arrived. Time taken off work and the ride I arranged for pick up was wasted - inexcusable!!! Weak customer service.

I went to U-Haul in Poway to get a propane tank refilled. There was no one else at the propane fill station, yet I waited over 20 minutes for someone to come out to refill my tank. During that time, at least four different employees passed right by me without acknowledging my presence. Next time I'll drive the extra five minutes and get my propane at the Poway Costco.

My husband and I made a reservation to pick up a truck at 845AM. thank goodness we showed up 10 minutes early because it took over 15 minutes of waiting "in line" (there was only one other customer there and 2 employees) to get the truck. Upon returning the vehicle, we had even more problems. One employee tells us we can drop off the key. This was after we inquired what to do as we waited another 20 minutes to simply return the truck. Another employee tells us we must wait and sign paperwork. So why is the employee that's sitting inside unable to assist us with a simple return of a vehicle. An easy pick up/drop off took us longer than the actual local move itself. This U-Haul does not function in a timely or organized manner. Will not be returning.

Dessi was the manager I spoke with on the phone and if I could give her 5 Stars I would. She was informative, polite and patient. My problem started with the insurance. I paid for the damage coverage that misleads the renter to believe that no matter the scratch, dent or damage, if you pay the fee, you are covered. WRONG. When I got the van it was a brand new van, this is where the problem continued. NEVER rent a brand new van because they will find a reason to charge you. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get a new van, move any gear and not scuff something up. When the van was returned, Dessi found a small 2" scratch on the back door on the inside. That's when I got slapped with a $150 charge. But wait, I got the damage insurance, I'm good, right? WRONG. There is a $150 deductible for ANY damage and since it was a brand new Van, yup, that's $150 for that scratch. Again, Dessi was very polite, informative and patient with me. I respect that a lot, thanks. She offered a lower price than the deductible, but after finding out I was already going to pay $219+ for a two day rental, I decided to just take them to small claims court. I will be filling right away. Moving forward, I'll won't rent from them again and will not take a brand new van off the lot. Message to the owner of this business: Remove the $150 charge and this post gets 5 Stars, I edit out the bad parts and we both walk away happily, not just you trying to extort money out of me. In this case, I will rent again.

This place is awful. The desk representatives are so slow and they take about thirty minutes to complete one transaction. We've been here for almost an hour and the line has only moved three people. Everyone in line is irritated at how slow the transactions are. Try another location.

Came here for what should have been a straight forward hitch installation... made an appointment, had the parts shipped. After 3 hours, the incorrect electric was installed and although mistakes do happen, they were closing so I told them I'd be back in the morning so the install could be finished. Came back the next day, they told me the soonest they could finish was in a week and would still be charging me the extra for labor despite their mistake. Find another business to support. Not worth the hassle here.

Has always been a good place to rent a truck. I've done so several times and have had good trucks and some old ones, but they have always been fair and have done everything that was expected of them. Good store of supplies in their lobby. Be sure to make a reservation during peak moving times (summer).
