Beautiful building and very helpful staff. The trees in the middle of the building are spectacular.

I asked smud about solar before I decided to move forward with it and I was met with a well You'll NEVER get rid of your electric bill. Now that I have solar installed it has taken over a month for them to install my new meter for my solar to become active

So I didn’t have enough money when it came time for my bill so when I had the money and I went to pay it online, it wanted me to pay the past due balance, and next months balance. Example it was September 17 and my bill is due on September 15, the want me to pay September 15 and August 15. It wouldn’t give me any other option and I didn’t have the money for 2 bills so I was gonna wait until the next month to pay it. Because why would I pay for service that hasn’t happened yet and I can’t afford that at the moment. Not even a full 30 days since that bill came in my power shut off. Very minimal notice and a very small grace period. You would think that it being “community owned” that they would understand how expensive it is to live in California and give people some time. I had to negative my bank to pay the bill bc I don’t have 500 dollars. If I would have received notice or was given the option to just pay the past due amount and not next months which isn’t even due yet I wouldn’t have waited. I’m forced to use SMUD so I bet they don’t care

My SMUD bill is extrely high (over ten times higher thanmy neighbor). I live in a 700 square feet apt and pay over $200.00 monthly. I receive a medical discount of $15 per mobrhabd a low income discount if 15. Per month.month. I have major breathing problems living in KOSacramentoI require filtered air nearly 24 hours a day. My Electrical service will be discontinued ai must have almost $500 to keep it onor ny moment for non payment. What do I doNOW? I CANNOT PAY THE 500 BEFORE9/20ou would think I would get an exension.. IS SMUD LIBLE FOR MY HOSPITAL STAY, String tonight?

SMUD has a lot of nerve to think they can just turn you off. When there's been times where we've gone without service for a week. Because they have to fix old transformer box down the street. And they take forever to do it. We were freezing cold and the kids were freezing And we lost all of our food in our Refrigerator.. Because they didn't event care to fix our area.. Just worried about lamdpark in sacramento.. I can't wait for the future for them to get rid of SMUD and PGE and go solar

Went to the office to start my new account with Smud. Got there 8am Friday. One person ahead of me. Took about 10 min. To get to the service window. Erika was super helpful and very professional. She explained everything to me. And I was setup and ready to go in less than 10 min.

Thanks for removing my redwood tree--it was a big job. Mowbray crews were professional. Any worries I had beforehand were unfounded. Thanks so much!

I received an email saying I was trending to a high bill. My next bill was for $52 and change!I'm also confused why they spend so much money on marketing, TV ads, etc. in order to get customers to solve their energy supply problems. Why shouldn't they develop a way to manage their own supply issues? I don't have confidence in them.

I wish I could indicate zero stars. The past few months SMUD has been threatening to turn off my utilities for no explainable reason. I send them letters in rebuttal showing that in fact I have paid. The constant bull from this utility service is ridiculous, the audacity, and bully like tactics of SMUD let's me know that my family and I are not valued customers. Even when I over pay they still act like dirtbags. If you say I owe 155 and I pay you 200 why are you sending crazy letters to me? This is just my truth and I advise all to share their truths. No wonder the rest of the US calls California---Commie-Fornia Govt is soo out of control ya'll think you are God almighty

A great customer service agent named Jospeh helped me today. I was having a lot of trouble with getting utilities started at my new apartment and although all the reps I talked to were very friendly and helpful, Joseph went above and beyond to help me today.

Worst utility services, rates, policies, and billing I've ever experienced. Just ended approx. 3.5 year service, and I will never live anywhere served by SMUD again.A) Was forced to pay base rate of $40 even when not even there to use the electricity (paid approx $40/mo through the pandemic when I was staying with family and wasn't even there for months on end). I use so little energy ("less than 95% of my neighbors" under My Energy Usage) yet was sometimes paying upwards of $75/mo some months. On other electrical utility companies, I usually don't even pay half the year thanks to low-energy-usage rebates, and I don't think I've ever had an electricity bill above $15 before SMUD.B) Halfway through the quarantine-era of the pandemic, I was suddenly being charged lots of late fees despite having auto payments on, so I called (see point C for why) and they basically told me "well, your autopay is set to X date, and our billing isn't on set dates." WHY was that not noted anywhere, and - better yet - why was I even allowed to set up an autopay that didn't PAY the bill?? I never selected anything saying to only pay part of a bill, either. I also have never had a utility company not have a standard billing cycle. The SMUD person via the phone either didn't or couldn't even give a good explanation of why they don't have a standard cycle, although I believe YOU can set it to a standard cycle (IIRC)...but no one tells you that until you're calling with above issue.C) The website navigation for billing is beyond confusing. Part of the problem (at least from what I can tell - I tried doing a deep dive and either I was being double charged or this is the only explanation) is that the due date for billing periods appears to be up to two months after the billing period, so it's super hard to track what bill/month you're actually paying. I still can't tell if I was being double charged after doing a whole spreadsheet.I will never live in another housing situation that is served by SMUD.

Terrible company. 5 days without power. The assessor keeps coming by and telling me that the crew to attach my power will be there right behind hill and they never show. They value numbers over people. Because my and my neighbor are isolated they keep moving us down in priority. He's got 4 kids and they both rely on electricity to work from home but Smud doesn't care. They have a monopoly and they know it. I had two high voltage wires in my backyard and nothing was done until I complained and complained

A huge thank you to SMUD and all of its employees who have been working hard during this extreme weather! I have always had positive experiences with SMUD, including tree services, power line repair, and general maintenance. From their customer service, easy to use app, and technicians, I can't thank you enough.
