I made a reservation 4 months ahead of time and the Avis rental location didn’t have the car available when I checked in. The only option was to take an electric car on my 500 mile one-way trip. I spent twice as much money charging it than I would have paid in gas. It also added 3 hours of extra “charging time” to my 8 hour drive. Then, when I returned the car 2 hours early, the return location charged me for an extra day. I was ripped off twice, at both the rental location and return location. I’ve lost my trust in Avis.

Just say no to Avis or Budget. They may have competitive rates to get your business, but you get what you paid for. Their customer service representatives will do everything they can to seek extra charges on your credit card. Regardless of your circumstances, Avis only care about your money. To describe my experience that led me to give this review would take more time an effort then I wish to give concerning Avis any further. In the future I will pay the extra money and seek rental services from a more reputable, honest, and compassionate company.

Booked a compact vehicle online, when i showed up for pickup. Lady behind the counter acted like i was a chore to deal with. After finishing paperwork she goes and gets the vehicle, and its a luxury vehicle. When i tell her i reserved a compact, her exact words were "we are a truck rental company, whatever car we have is what you get". The only reason i didnt walk out then and there, was time it would take to go get another one. Enterprise is right down the street and it was 10x better in every way. Use any other option before going here.Update- I was contacted by Avis because of this review said they would resolve the issue it’s been 2 months. If I could rate negative this would be the one

This is the most unprofessional car rental I've ever encountered. I extended with them by phone many times with a guy named Will and he obviously never did extend. Then they said, they never received a payment. Whose fault is that?? There was never an indication that there were any issues. Someone booted the car, however when I called Avis about the boot I got nothing but the run around. It was booted for 8 days. Then they gave me an astronomical bill. No one called, and no one emailed. My attorney will be getting involved.

Our average experience was good until we gave back the car, and trust me that we had quite a hard time. The second day having the car it broke down, thankfully we were able to arrive to a secure destination. The following day they towed it and a taxi took us to a different city to pick up another car from AVIS, even though this adventure, everyone was chill and we arrived 5 hours later to our next stop, but no problem, we continued our trip. When we dropped off the car in San Diego, we were accused of having dog fur in the car, and while I was translatici what the guy was saying to my wife, and she was quite upset with the accusation that of course was not true, the guy accused us, again, of lying in his face, because he knew Spanish and could understand (????). We weren't speaking Spanish and we were just saying that it was impossible, that maybe it was from the shoes or somethibg because a dog hasn't been in the car 100% sure. Everyone having a dos knows that if it goes into a car, that car is goig to be FULL of fur, not just 4 tiny things on the car carpets. His behavior ruined our last hours in SD and leaves a bad experience with AVIS.

Came in today to rent a car, got a pretty cool Mazda crossover. Quick and easy process and nice staff. Dude at the counter was fast and professional.

I called the 800 for a very last minute reservation on Thursday 5/18. The representative at the location was not expecting us. Luckily, he was able to assist us. We thank you so much mustache guy (forgot his name :) for allowing us to each reach our destinations in L.A. what a life saver. I also like the fact that they are open on weekends. Definitely a bonus and would recommend this location.

Seinfeld in real life. Reserved a car and then the day of they didn't have any cars available. They cancelled our reservation without notifying us. Super unprofessional and unreliable.

We used a discount code found online but we weren't eligible when we arrived. It was not advertised as a corporate code where we found it. Apologies I didn't ask for a name but a nice young lady helped us get back on track with our rental. She handled the complicated situation well and was very courteous and polite.

I reserved a Dodge Ram 3 months ago and when I went to get the truck they didn’t have it. It was unbelievable. Instead they gave me a Nissan, they didn’t even give me a heads up the Dodge was unavailable. Also the truck was very dirty inside and outside.Very disappointed with it. We had numerous issues with a recent rental here. 1. Generally it is not well staffed (a junior staff member named Sebastián who can't handle much paperwork wise and a boss who is never present 2. They do not have a vacuum cleaner or any way to clean the cars onsight which means your car will likely be a bit dirty inside and out when you get it 3 and similarly we were hit with an extra $300 charge upon returning our car (well a day later). Because they don't have a vacuum or ability to wash the car if a bird poops on your car or if you leave crumbs or anything inside they just charge you to have it cleaned offsite. This was not signed off or agreed by us - just a charge hitting the card later Photos of the inside of our car attached - very normal state for a six week rental! We had additional issues during our rental. 1. They didn't know how to deal with a longer than 4 week rental - which meant we got a text telling us the car would be reported stolen 2. When we returned the car Sebastián did t know how to process it so just told us to give him the keys and trust him the next day they would process the return. So we just had to leave even though in the system the car still showed as ours
