Epic fail Budget/Avis. I took out the extra insurance (approx. 30 dollars per day). I told the guy at the counter I didn't want ANY surprises. At the end of my trip, I just wanted to hand the keys, walk away with final bill, and not worry about extra charges. That is why I wanted the extra insurance. I had a Nissan Rogue. The car was a piece of junk. The battery cable was not tight and I needed to tighten it. Fortunately the place where I stayed had a handman who had a wrench I could borrow. I got a flat tire (not Budget fault) and I called the roadside assistance on the rental agreement. I was in a job interview so I could not deal with getting clothes dirty nor had the time to handle it. I came home and got an additional bill for 220 dollars. The Budget/Avis customer service said I didn't have the right insurance. In reading the agreement, there was a word "may offer" insurance. The place at Fort Myers Airport (RSW) does not offer it nor was it on my contract. Yet, Budget/Avis still charged it to my credit card. Long story, I would advise anyone renting from Budget/Avis to go somewhere else. The car care was lacking, the guy at the desk was unhelpful, and the extra insurance is a scam. Worst car rental experience and I rent about 10 to 15 times per year. Enterprise is my normal go to rental preference. Budget/Avis just assured my return to my normal patterns.

Car was dirty and had ants in it, brought it back and recived a letter that i have to pay a 250 dollar cleaning fee. What a scam, the guys there suck, dont rent at this location.Go to the airport and pay a little extra for a cleaner car.

Horrible customer service, I was sent in by roadside due to a flat tire I had little kids in the car. Went in and they didn’t have a acceptable vehicle to fit my children in. I explained that to him and he was horrible rude told me to go to the airport I have a deflate tire with four kids. He could of offered better customer service. I would spend the extra money and go with a better company. Customer service pays off. I had more issues with the customer service at this location but don’t need to write a book.

Don't think I'll be renting here again if I can help it 1 the receipt looks like Greek and they found a way to charge me by covering it up in mathematic gymnastics that I don't want to spend any more time trying to untangle. Also $9.90 per gallon and more hand-waving as to how they determined that the tank, which read full, was supposedly less full than when I left, leaves a bad taste. Let the buyer beware.

Garbage location. Had a rental for four months. Been extending it at multiple different locations but this location wouldn't extend my lease because they weren't going to make money on it. Don't go here.

They give you a rate before you arrive but once you do, they ask you insane questions regarding your insurance, and the only way to answer is to call your insurance company, ask for a rep and ask them around 5 insane questions, ranging from the weight of a vehicle you're covered for to others. This wouldn't be such a task if it wasn't for the current situation with the coronavirus, and if you don't answer these questions you'll have to pay their insurance. Fix your system and to the gentleman assisting us, learn customer service.

I was really disappointed with the agent that assisted me. He attempted to steal my phone. I left my phone in the truck after dropping it off. Agent Lozaes turned my phone off and while I tried to locate it through "find my iPhone". It appeared to be at the rental location. After several attempts, the agent called my boyfriend to tell him that he "found" the phone. Thankfully iPhone has a locator app and he think he got scared when he realized he wasn't going to get away with this. PLEASE be careful working with this company.

Awful! Took forever to check in in San Diego and then we were told to sit and wait and they would bring the car to us! Almost 30 minutes after being on a long flight into San Diego .!

I had the worse car rental experience at this location. The agent wanted to see my "proof of insurance" and I was taken back and did I don't have that and I have never in the 35 years of renting cars have I been asked for that. He insisted he wouldn't rent to me - although I was a FastBreak member. After several minutes of arguing, another agent got involved and they hanged up on me - harassing me repeatedly. It was the most unprofessional and horrible and embarrassing encounter I have ever had. End result - they refused to rent to me - even AFTER I went online and produced a copy of my insurance. It was interesting that the couple renting next to me was not asked to provide the insurance proof. Avoid this location.

Happy to say that everything went smooth. Although I made a reservation that wasn't found or in the system it all worked out in the end. They gave me a better deal as well as an upgrade. It was a smooth and pleasant experience despite the mishap!

Rented from this location. Advertised a Chevy Colbolt or similar, received a Nissan Versa that smelled like an middle eastern ashtray! The front desk person was no help. Because of my situation I had picked the keys up and returned later for the car. Due to allergies to tobacco, I had to delay my trip to exchange the car at the airport. Which turned into a nightmare. I will not make the mistake of renting from this location again.

Very disappointing coming in and not getting the car you expected and having to wait for someone to come in help you because the guy at the counter doesn't know what he is doing. After 30 mins end up leaving with no car, unsatisfied and completely shocked on the car you are being given so dusty and dirty. Why is there only 3cars to even chose from at this place.... not coming here anymore airport location is #1 what a waste of time

I experienced the worst service on my trip to San Diego, with Avis Rent-A-Car. After renting a midsize vehicle I absolutely felt like I had received a bicycle with automatic windows! The car was in horrible condition, papers on the backseat floor when I picked it up and the side view mirror button was missing. I called Avis to express my dissatisfaction and they had me come in and exchange my vehicle. All I got with the new vehicle was the same awful service and vehicle. In the past 12 months I have rented cars nine different times from rental car agencies and I will never again rent from Avis.

Haven't rented a car from them before, and won't be renting again anytime soon. We pre-reserved the cats because we needed 2 compact cars for the parking spaces available at our condo. They we reserved under my husbands name and he missed his flight, so I went to get the car to take my kids and I to the condo, but they wouldn't let me because it was in his name. The website we rented the car through said nothing about this and they wouldn't budge. We even called the 1-800 number listed and they were no help. They also wouldn't let us cancel the listing, price match the listing price, or call my husband on the phone for a verbal approval. We ended up having to wait 2 hours for him to arrive. Horrible communication on their part.

I am writing this on behalf of my coworker as she refuses to have anything to do with this company. I will also recommend that the company we work for removes this company from their list of preferred rental car facilities for remote and travelling employees. This all started when my coworkers rental car had a check engine light come on and a low tire warning. This new coworker is from out of state and did not know the streets of San Diego. She called into Avis to get someone to come out and get it fixed for her. No reply. Called again fearing that she might not be driving with a reliable vehicle. She did get a hold of someone and they told her to fix it herself or put a donut on the car. At the time of that phone call where she actually had someone who could actually give her a service oriented answer it was around 10pm at night where places are already closed. This was unacceptable. Third call that very night and was told that someone would call her the next morning to have her issues fixed. No one called. Where is your customer service? This is no way to treat or communicate to a person paying for your services. Luckily for Avis my coworker started a late shift today for training purposes so there was time to redeem themselves. Avis, you failed...again. She was told when SHE called back at 10 am this morning to get another car, was told to fix it herself again. She finally got a hold of someone who could actually do anything and was told they were going to do a "2 way Tow" where a tow truck will pick up the functional rental vehicle and drop the car off and pick up the rental that had issues and bring it back. This was acceptable at the time since my coworker needed to start heading to work. Tow truck showed up, no car. Tow truck left and didn't even pick the car up. At this point my coworker needed to get to the office. She was picked up by another coworker and brought to work. The first tow truck driver wanted to pick her up and take her downtown to the avis airport lot, this is unacceptable when the AVIS rental company had told her that they would be sending a car in the morning. Its now mid afternoon and I drove her to the hotel where the car was at to attempt this a second time. Once again, no car only a tow truck and the driver wanting to take her downtown to get another car, my coworker said she didnt want to get into a tow truck with a random person in a city she knows nothing about. Once again, Avis said on thing, did another. THIS time we told them to take the car and I gave the tow truck driver our work address to drop the car off so my coworker will have a car when she leaves tonight, late I might add as she is working the evening shift. How can we as a consumer or a company we work for endorse this place that does nothing to help a client paying for services but telling them to fix it themselves or not following through with what they are telling their own clients? We STILL havent gotten a car yet... it is nearly 430pm the NEXT day when my coworker called AVIS to get a replacement almost 24 hours prior. I will NOT recommend AVIS to Anyone and I will be recommending that my employer remove Avis from their list of preferred rental companies, you will NOT be getting any of my money or the company that I work for. You want a good rental and great customer service... Choose Enterprise.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We waited for 35 minutes in line when we picked up the car- they actually mentioned to me a fee for picking up the car an hour late? We were sold a bill of goods about a deal for a better car and rate. We responded and took the upgrade. We decided to extend our trip by 48 hours and called to extend the agreement. Well, come to find out, when we dropped off the car off - no such upgrade deal, an erroneous late fee and when I called to discuss the bill, customer service was atrocious. We travel so much and rent from Avis often. That will be our last time using Avis.

Renters beware, your reservation expires within 45 minutes of your arrival. We discovered this the hard way when we arrived late due to delayed flight and were walked to car by Avis employee. Waited 15 minutes to exit airport parking lot only to be told reservation had expired and car was re-assigned. Were sent back to rental counter against traffic and told to unload car. Did as directed again and walked to rental counter. Were then re-assigned same car. Re-loaded car and waited in line to exit a 2 nd time.

If I can give them a zero I will be happy to, worst company ever, we booked a car then whenwe came from Utah to them, a cold guy said ohh we dont have a car did not even say sorry or tried to get us one he was so rude and seems that he hates his job and doesnt care he just an idiot, And he said go to the airport and they will give u one and we did and he was lying we just wasted time and uber money. And the avis car rental at the airport said ohh we are not related you guys pay $800 to rent a car like they willgive us Ferrari. They are just jerks please ignore them you will be mad if you book a car with those liers

Showed up at time scheduled and they had no vehicles and stated they wanted us to wait for 3-4 hours until a vehicle was dropped off. After I told them we would go somewhere else, they made some calls and drove us to another Avis and upgraded us at no charge. They made the situation right which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 1.

Only a few minute Lyft/Uber ride Fein the airport, and you'll save a ton of cash (avoiding airport rental fees). Really friendly staff. So glad we found this place...saved us about $300 on a rental for the week, and it was a seamless experience.

I've rented from them several times and each time they are a delight to work with. They're always accommodating and get me just what I request, often with very little advance notice. I highly recommend booking at this location instead of the airport if you are flying in. The rates are much better and so is the service. The staff is so friendly and my pick up was both quick and painless! They offer a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport rental car center so you don't need to worry about getting there from the airport.

Process was quick, painless and affordable. Staff was very friendly. Car was clean and in great condition. There was even a complimentary shuttle service back to the airport. I'll definitely be using them next time I visit San Diego
