Even if you make a reservation, you will not get a vehicle. Absolutely terrible.

DO NOT TRUST THE WEBSITE INVENTORYMoving my fiancés stuff from San Diego to LA. After driving 2 hours down to SD, we get a call that they’re out of stock of the van we reserved. Went to another location that had the van and were told we would need to change the reservation online to get the same price. Called Budget to switch the reservation and they said they would call back within 2 hours to confirm. 2 hours passes by, no call. We called budget back and the first guy just hung up on us mid call. We called again and were told the reservation was confirmed and was ready for pick up an hour before (no calls on our phone records) but would have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up and to call them back if we had any issues. When we asked if we could have a contact number if we had any further issues trying to pick up the car tomorrow, they said they didn’t have one. Lady on the phone also got defensive when we asked where we could leave a review and said there wasn’t a place to do that.

Bait and switch scheme. I booked my cargo van for a one way move from San Diego to the Bay Area 2 weeks prior to the move. 2 days before the reservation, I received a call telling me they cannot fulfill the reservation because "Fed Ex" was not returning the vans as expected. They gave me a customer service number to call to get help securing another reservation. They took my info and told me a "supervisor" would get back to me. I went online and looked at available trucks and vans at Budget and other companies. Budget had similar vans and trucks available locally, but 5 TIMES THE COST. I doubt the company is telling the truth when they cancel. They either should not list their vehicles as available for rent or they should just charge an amount similar to competitors who can meet their reservations. The company technically avoids a bait and switch violation because the consumer is forced to rent from a different franchise location at a higher price, as opposed to the same location dealer jacking up the price when the consumer arrives to pick up their vehicle. Given the reviews I read about other consumers getting their reservation denied last minute, it looks like a company wide operations policy. My next online effort after posting this review is to refer this company to San Diego District Attorney's Office Consumer Protection Unit. Anyone else who suffers this last minute reservation cancelation should do the same.

Don't plan your move around this company. Got a call less than 24 hours ahead of our reservation saying they cancelled. Now left to scramble and find a new truck somewhere else.

.Just imagine a friend of mine was moving from San Diego to Austin. It is 1400 miles and 3 days traveling. I can't even imagine how he spent there 3 days with the smell like that. Awful. Inside it was so dirty and filthy, and smell so bad. The thing is that my friend made a reservation 5 days prior pick up and by the time of picking up it was the only truck they had. So there were no options to switch it to another one.

I was getting blackmailed by Hertz into a more expensive car because they refused to uphold their advertised rate / reservation, so I made a reservation online with Budget and walked to their office. When I got there, the sales person was professional and told me that even though they didn't have the cheap car I reserved, they would get me into a larger car without added cost. I was amazed at how easy it was to resolve it and how courteous the staff was. They've made a new customer for life.

Reserved a truck to be picked up at 11:30 AM. This was a same-day rental on the reservation website. Arrive to pick up the truck and see they have posted new hours that they are closing at noon. How can you rent somebody a truck a half an hour before you close and call it a same-day rental? They then proceeded to tell me that I can use the Dropbox but there is an additional $10 fee. Or I can return it tomorrow in the morning but there's an additional fee. Basically they tried to charge me extra for keeping the truck more than half an hour. I declined the rental entirely then a couple days later they charge my credit card as a no-show for the reservation. Had to dispute this charge with the credit card company and get my money back. Total scam artists. **UPDATE: Credit Card company completed dispute inquiry and found in my favor. No soup for you scammers! If you happen to do business with this location, be aware that you can beat them when they try to rip you off.

Showed up to pick up our reserved car--after speaking with them yesterday-- and no one is here. Doors are locked and they're closed. Per Yelp and our conversation, they are open. WTF

I have moved across the states and across the country. I have never had a worse experience then Budget. All of the below comments are accurate as well as the trucks condition. I drove through LA traffic in the pouring down rain for 4 solid hours. The interior of the truck over the driver and passenger seats started to leak. I was covered in rust, rain water and soaked. They said to pull over and wait for couple hours for help. I had a family member tape the outside of the truck to make the rest of my trip. Also tail light missing and the truck was absolutely filthy. When I contacted customer service and tole them how dangerous this was and how it damaged clothing etc. They offered me $16.00 ???? How about the cold I now have.

Horrible customer service. All 3 customers in the front office were having issues with their rentals. When we got to the front of the line, and our $20 rental is costing $80. Wtf.

I will never ever ever rent a budget rental truck again. We paid for a 26 foot truck to travel from San Diego to New Jersey. The truck broke down FOUR TIMES and delayed our move by several days. There was one point that we were stranded on the side of the road for an entire day in the middle of New Mexico with nothing in sight. They delivered aa second truck and when it came, it had a flat tire. We paid $4000 to rent the truck to make this move. We are moving because my daughter has cancer and needs to be closer to better medical care. To say that we were even more stressed out due to the conditions of this truck and lack of customer service is an understatement. The company only offered us a minimal refund of $700. I truly am disappointed in the service we received and their unwillingness to reimburse us for the multiple inconveniences. I will never use this company again!!

Just wow man! This has to be the worst customer service I've experienced in a while. I've gone to places that try to upsell you, but places that seem like they actually go out of their way to inconvenience YOU. That's a new one. I reserved a 12ft truck, to bring my new bed home. A 12ft truck is already too large for my need. However I was short on time and this was the closest option I had. When I got to the location the guy tried to act like he was doing me a favor by saying: - "I'll upgrade you to a 16 ft truck free of charge." -Thank you sir, but I'm ok. I'll take the 12 ft truck. "We actually don't have any 12ft trucks. The one that would have been yours has damage to the roof." If I wasn't short on time I would have walked out of this place. The guy asked what kind of insurance I wanted with the smuggest of microaggessions. I told him that I would like to use my own insurance, he told me that I had to call them. I have full coverage no worries, I'll just use he app. Never had that happen before. but that's a fair request. It was strange because, I know the guy is a nice guy, because he was nice to the family that came in behind me. Us, though, there was no love. I'm having trouble trying to log in to my Geico app, and I don't have the patience to sit through the automation to reset my password, then have the agent tell him I'm covered, or log in to show him. So I pay the extra $34. I told him I was literally going down the street to pick up a bed and I'll be right. He said, ok, when you come back the tank should be where it is when you leave (the tone was a little rude, but the procedure is standard). "Oh, and you need the receipt otherwise I'll assume you didn't put any gas in, we'll charge you $30 plus the amount of gas. I came back 2.5 hrs later with the truck full. How much did I pay for gas, you ask? $0.51.... 51 cents. The tank was full at 48 cents, I thought it was a mistake and tried to put more gas in, and it stopped at 51 cents. The guy was acting like I tried to pull a fast one on him, he said, -"0.51 cents? Is that all you put in?" - Yes, I told you I was just going down the street What I really wanted to say was "Yes you big dumbass, if you weren't busy trying to win an award for the worlds worst customer service, you would have heard me when I said that I need the truck for 2 hrs to go 4 miles away!" Please... if you need to rent a moving truck, you can go to Home Depot, or even U-Haul is better than this location. How do people with horrible customer service get Customer Service jobs? I don't get it! Is it his fault or his bosses. Either way, I am staying far away from this location.
