If I could give 0 stars I would have. Stunning lack of customer service. Went to pick up car I had reserved and was told they would have no car for us. Absolutely, no alternative or assistance was offered. Victoria at the counter simply told us there would be no car and that’s it. To say her manner was less than helpful is an understatement. I then talked to her manager who told us he had known the day before there would be no car available yet we were given no notice whatsoever. We had to go to the concierge of the hotel for help as we had a long arranged and much anticipated event with family and friends to attend. I would advise never using Hertz. They could care less about their customers.

If only there were a way to leave negative stars. I booked a car via Expedia, to be picked up at 6:00 pm the Tuesday before Thankgiving, only to show up to find the location already closed. The Hertz employees who were on hand could offer little more than a shrug. Expedia essentially told me "sucks for you, we can cancel your reservation" but offered zero help. Hertz and Expedia are willing to take your money for a service that they have no intention of delivering (literally, WHY are customers allowed to book a pickup outside of operating hours?!), and will practically laugh in your face when you expect them to honor their contract. Terrible customer service all around. NEVER AGAIN. Both companies should be ashamed of themselves.

The vehicle wasn’t there at the booked time slot we were told to come back in an hour. We had to reschedule all our plans.

I would have given them 0 star if I had an option. I took a hertz car for 3 days, I had planned a trip to Tahoe. Unfortunately, I lost my car keys and I tried and contact hertz for help. First of all their roadside assistance is the worst thing ever, it took me 45 min to get on call with one of the representatives and she gave me a breakdown of charges. I asked her that I will give one last try to find the keys. I call her after 30 min and I am on hold for another 45 min before I get connected to a representative, she tells me that they will send a towing truck to South Lake Tahoe(our location) and take us to Reno where we will get a new car. The tow truck guy arrives after 1 hour and tells us that he cannot take us to Reno as he is the only guy working and has no time. We again call Hertz and then ask them to solve the confusion. It is 12 AM at night and we are stuck without proper clothes and food since it was locked in the car. Hertz tells us they cannot take us to Reno and we should go there the next morning. Our hotel was in North lake tahoe which is 1 hour drive and hertz tells us they will book an Uber for us and pay for it. After a while they call us and tell us that Hertz will not reimburse for the uber and instead charge extra money for calling the uber. After an hour of confusion, we book uber ourselves and pay 100$ for it. The next day we contact hertz and ask them to help us get a car nearby, they had one location nearby which was closed and another one a bit farther had no cars. They again ask us to go to Reno and book an Uber for us which they say would be reimbursed. After we get our car from Reno, we head back to San Francisco and talk to the guy who gave us the car. He says he will reimburse the Uber charges. But when we see the bill, hertz charges us 400$ for the uber. I would not recommend anyone taking Hertz because if you are stuck in a situation like this, they will screw you. Probably take any other rental company like Enterprise or Avis but not hertz. Other companies care about you but hertz won't. Be safe as this is not at all a safe rental company

1)Hertz counter staff (I think his name is Tyler) promised me that he changed the appointment from 8am to 7am. I made a trip down there the day before the booking to make the changes. However, not done.

The woman was completely rude over the phone. Since the website and Google Maps lists two different but similar (as one is the pick-up and the other is the drop-off) addresses, I was politely asking for clarification. She wasn't listening to me and then hung upon me right before I had to see her! Right before I had to walk in the soaking rain, in my now ruined Uggs, on 90 degree hills. There isn't much of a selection of cars since this is a pick up only location. Plus the hotel is very pretentious, I would dress your best when picking up a car.
