Location, location, location. Being a part of the iconic Fairmont Hotel is a claim to brag about all on its own. Which is a good thing, because this spot is mainly all about that Fairmont affiliation. It is awfully pretty, though. The space is surprisingly huge, even by fine hotel standards. Just like the hotel lobby, Laurel Court is grand & majestic. Sky-high ceilings, massive pillars, marble, faux or otherwise...the vibe is very European high tea, & there's certainly nothing wrong with that.Even the light is beautiful. I can easily imagine a vintage film scene with Catherine Deneuve happening here. Actually, this setting would be painfully appropriate for any intelligent foreign film. Refined, classic, & even sexy & romantic in that continental breakfast at a 5 star icon kind of way.Why only 3 stars then? While I have no problem waxing poetic about my visits here aesthetically, there's one thing that detracts from all of it. The wait.It can take 15 minutes just to get a cappuccino. I know that because it did. Same goes for a nightcap after having dinner nearby. But, for atmosphere it's worth a stop anyway. Unless you're in a hurry.3 1/2 stars.

This review is for their afternoon tea.I was able to get a last minute/same day reservation for the afternoon tea and honestly, this place exceeded my expectations. Maybe it's because there's a lot of negative reviews on Yelp so I wasn't expecting much lol.For $49/person, this place is pretty good. There was so much food that we couldn't finish everything. The scones were delicious, the sandwiches were decent, and the desserts weren't overly sweet. It wasn't the best afternoon tea I've ever had, but it was definitely great value. The service was great too (15% tip was included). The waiter came by and checked on us several times during the 1.5h we were there.I'd come back again.

I visit this place a lot since I work right next to it. I have to say their service is always great and they keep the place well kept constantly. Prices are fair and they serve generous portions.

We are locals and we have been coming to the Laurel Court bar and restaurant for years to have a glass of wine and listen to Michael play the piano. He's truly exceptional and the background piano music creates a wonderful ambiance. Be sure to check before heading over to see if he's playing (I think he plays Wed - Sat nights, definitely Thurs - Sat) as the atmosphere is dull and disappointing without the piano music. With Michael playing, it's elegant, relaxing and wonderful.

My BF got food poisoning after eating the rigatoni. Foods were not cheap and drinks/cocktails were expensive. But nothing stood out and not worth the money. Ambience wasn't great either. Huge room by the lobby. Doesn't feel cozy Almost like cafeteria. Not worth the price!

A limited menu but everything was absolutely delicious and fantastic service. An old School san Francisco vibe that I love

Wow, what a disappointment, went here after staying at this overpriced Motel 6. The breakfast was over $20 for a simple breakfast with the scrambled eggs that were way over cooked and the sausage was raw. I wanted to send it back but the wait staff was non-existent. We were rushed out of the restaurant with rude staff. After an almost $150.00 breakfast for our group. We were told that "we charge for anyone overstaying what we think it should be to eat here" I am not only writing a bad review but have also banned anyone in the company from attending any conference or spending any corporate funds in this hotel.

Had a fantastic breakfast here at Christmas time. The aroma of gingerbread filled the entire building. While prices are a little high, gosh it was just so worth it! We got the buffet and ate to our hearts' content and enjoyed every single wonderful bite! Service was friendly and attentive. Can't beat the location! It's hard to write this review because I just want to go back!

Waited at our table for over 30min no one ever came to service us nor bring water. The restaurant was not busy in the slightest. I guess I have to a different race or ethnicity in order to receive service in the "liberal" SF. Yet as an African American women on one ever came to grab our drink order, water or anything, I have absolutely no idea what we did beside sit there and be black

Came for afternoon tea. They serve tea bags. For a $50 afternoon tea I expected real tea, maybe even good tea. I assume at this point this place is only for tourists or conventioneers. Food was fine, not outstanding. Service was good. The room is nice. Will definitely go elsewhere in the future. Also, a 15% service charge is added to the bill. No idea if that goes to the server or not, in hindsight and after reading about a lawsuit in which restaurants pocket service fees. "Meh, I've experienced better" seems just right. Also, if you insist on going or are trapped at the Fairmont for some reason, the Vegan service the table next to us got looked very nice. Prob. still not worth going for....

Came here for the afternoon tea. Comes with a pot of organic tea of your choice, 5 savory sandwiches, 2 scones, and 5 sweets served on a 3-tier platter. The food was fabulous, very light and tasty. The waitress was very attentive, asked us whether we needed water to refill our tea pot. Wonderful ambiance.

Had the ciiopinne which was cooked perfectly and was seasoned just right. Wine pairings for the meal were recommended by the waiter and we're spot on.

We came for drinks - it was really pricey and the service was horrible. Two different waiters were short and rude and acted like we weren't worthy of their attention. We were not in work out gear but looked nice for a girls night out. Really disappointing. Won't come back

Happy to pay a $75 min per person in such an iconic location ... if the menu didn’t reassemble a low market diner. Just go look - don’t pay and stay

Incredibly slow service hour and a half to get one drink and an appetizer there's not many people here so this does not make sense and I've read prior reviews that are saying the same thing Fairmont needs to get new management and change the way they're servicing their people give them the price of the rooms and the venue

Amazing food at a fair price! Our server said she treats her customers like family, and that's how it felt. Will definitely be back.

Feb 2017, Celebrated with my sis here. Wanted to try it because of all that I heard over the many years about the English tea lunch here. I was not too impressed by the atmosphere. It seemed a bit out dated to me, for what I was expecting. Did not have much decor or tea decor, like the other tea rooms that I've tried. The food was pretty good.

Please save your money and do not come here for the Christmas dinner buffet. It's $129 per person with mandatory 18% gratuity and SF taxes. The food was mediocre (dry turkey and ham, no prime rib), no beverages included (not even tea or coffee), Service was so slow we had to request the waiters multiple times to fill our water and take away plates we have stacked on our table. I understand it's Christmas and there's an up charge but there's a certain premium that's worth paying for if the food and service is good in such a prestige hotel as the Fairmont but it was overall a horrible Christmas experience. Would not recommend to anyone.

Ordered at 6:45. Food came at 7:30. We were so hungry that we ate all our food within 5 minutes. Appetizers came after entree. Also overheard staff telling customers they were "booked out until 11pm" but the restaurant was half empty. Cooked two medium rare's and a well done as medium. Also left a piece of lardon on my no lardon burger.

So we got married at the Fairmont, and we wanted to make reservations for our anniversary to go back to there to eat. This is the response we got. Is it too much to ask for a reservation? We only spent over $50k on our wedding there. You'd think they'd at least let us make reservations to eat at their mediocre 3 Yelp star restaurant. Bravo customer service.

It sucks! They are so short staffed & they do everything to get rid of you. God sucks too! This hotel was sold to South Korean people. They don't care about you! It's obvious

A beautiful restaurant and there was a pianist playing soft music. The menu is limited. I had halibut, which was an off menu special and it was quite good.

Pricey but worth it. I had pasta with a pork belly carbonara. The pork belly was divine. The savors are simple, but the dishes are very well done.

I had never heard of this place until a friend visiting from out of town asked me to meet her here and good God almighty was this food amazing. Even more amazing was the wine selection. If I didn't live on the other side of the 110, I would definitely frequent this place more. I rarely give 5 stars but everything was excellent. The staff, food, music, and ambiance. Apparently we got there at the right time as I learned folks are on the wait list for months, and we were able to head straight to the bar. I'm not a wait on a list kind of gal, but if ever in the future I'm willing to do so, it would definitely be for here.

We're in Fairmont hotel and wanted to grab a bite to eat. My husband ordered soup and burger. He finished his soup and the rest had finished their meal, my hubby's burger was late for almost an hour.... too pricey for a very poor service..they sucked!!!!
