Wish they were open. I give it 5 stars for all the times I’ve been here as a little girl. I grew up eating here. This was our burger house. No one makes them like the Big 4. Sadly, Covid closed them down and they have not reopened. This was/is an Old San Franciscan place that old San Franciscan money would socialize, broker deals, enjoy the best burgers, see who’s who or be seen, etc… The live pianist and other instruments added to the class of this place. I always felt like I stepped back in time when I walked into this place. It just felt like home to me.As of 12/27/2021 they have yet to open. Very sad ?

It was an okay brunch spot. I feel like it is consistent in quality of food and I like that you're almost always ready to be seated even without reservations. Blueberry pancakes are a dream, the spinach omelette is fine, and the savory crepes are nothing worth writing home about. But if you'd rather wait 2 hours for brunch then you can take yourself elsewhere.

Classic old world style, stunning ambience, professional wait staff, exceptional service all around. We’ve eaten there countless times and haven’t had a single poor experience. Makes us feel as if we’re members of a private supper club and bar.

First time here. The food was delicious and fresh. Had the tuna and it was great. The prices were fair for the amount and quality of food.

I've never been big into fine dining and always thought it was a waste of money but my wife has heard great things about this place and really wanted to go for our anniversary. So we went, had to please the wife you know. And I never thought I would say this but it was genuinely worth my money. I was amazed. The venue had this very interesting vintage feel to it that I really digger and the service was excellent. Steaks my favorite food so I got some weird steak dish. At first I was disappointed because I normally don't like all this random stuff on my steak but it actually enhances the flavor of it and gave it an interesting flavor profile. Gotta say, pleasantly surprised. Big shout out to the wife.

You can't go wrong at the Big 4. Though I kinda preferred the old dated style before the renovation - it had a real authetic old school San Francisco vibe - it is still a fantastic place to have drinks and enjoy a lovely part of town.

Fantastic 'old school' hotel bar. Seating is available in the dining room, at the bar itself or at various small tables dotted around. Recommend choosing tables near the fireplace for an excellent view of the live pianist. Bar menu has a modest choice but the burger is recommended. Limited beer selection, but cocktails are the way to go here.

Big 4 restaurant is a beautiful place. Really nice food, ambiance is perfect, rich, and charming with a history. It's expensive but pretty much worth it. The bar alone is worth a visit.

A true old-school San Francisco institution. The decor, pianist, cocktails and fantastic Americana cuisine. A trip back to the golden ages. Must try the Cesar Salad and the Chicken Pot Pie is better than Mom can make. To die for!

I love the leather furniture, the cozy little alcoves, and the historic prints. The opulent, clubby atmosphere reeks of old San Francisco money. Cocktails are very expensive, but it's worth popping in for a round just to get a taste of the old robber baron lifestyle.
