Major hidden gem of Montecito! Great vibes, incredible service and very fresh sushi.Menu has lots of options, crazy sake list, and everything hits. Tempura was perfectly crisp, sushi rolls were on point. I will definitely be coming back.Highly recommend!

This is my favorite sushi place in the world, by a long shot. From Marco's smiling face to the savory cacophony of flavors, the experience is unmatched. This place is a must visit.

Tucked into the farthest corner of a shopping center, Sakana enjoys being under the radar, except that devoted sushi lovers flood this place. The menu is massive, the fish fresh. They excel at sushi rolls, though there are options for Japanese food fans. The space is long and narrow, a kind of yin/yang feel of the alternating black and white sushi bar area contrasting with the small dining area. Traditionalists be warned: it's not unheard of for multiple sauces to be applied to the architecturally beautiful plates of food. The best rolls include the "pink bear" --- panko-breaded and fried salmon, crab, cream cheese and cilantro, with blood orange vinaigrette drizzled on top. The Sakana roll contains fried halibut, cucumber and avocado, topped with seared tuna. It combines the mildly grilled halibut and crisp cucumber with the earthy tuna and soft avocado, creating a pleasing textural note. The restaurant also offers the Montecito pressbox of grilled lobster and crab meat mixed with avocado, then blanketed with black caviar and lobster sauce.
