Got a dishwasher from them. The process was efficient and I liked it until it came to the install. The original estimate for the install was $325, the contractor which they recommended behaved as if he wasn't really interested in the job. I had to call them multiple times to schedule. Then they came did the job and after finishing told me that the bill was $475. This is for basically swapping my old dishwasher with the new one.I started this process thinking it is a good idea to support local shops, now I wish i just ordered from the internet got the thing delivered (probably for free) and saved the aggravation.

Shutout to John, who saved my Christmas prep! I'm hosting 30 people at my house for Christmas, and my dryer died just 4 days before. I called John on the 22nd and let him know what was going on, and not only did he have a dryer for me, but he got it delivered 24 hours later on the 23rd! He really saved my Christmas with that one HUGE stressor off my shoulders! Thank you, John!

Do NOT let University convince you to order Bertazzoni products. We received a defective (no water or ice) Bertazzoni refrigerator/freezer from University five months ago. We have spent many hours on the phone with Bertazzoni, left on our own to get this repaired. University will not help or replace the defective fridge they delivered. They also delivered the wrong dishwasher twice and were not pleasant to deal with throughout. I would stay far away from both University and Bertazzoni.

I don't recommend University Electric if you're looking for pleasant interactions. There are folks working there that I felt spoke condescendingly to me and had a negative reaction to feedback. The sales rep that I worked with was knowledgable and responsive. Unfortunately, because of the other interactions that I had with other members of the team, I will not be referring anyone to this store. I've also passed along this feedback to my Contractor who have sent University Electric business a ton of business and hope that this will no longer be their first choice in referral. I spent $35k here in total. When it was time for me to purchase my washer and dryer, I went with with another local store and decided that I would rather pay additional fee for shipping than having to deal with any additional interaction with people from this store. There were multiple negative interactions that led me to this review. When I contacted the store to speak to my sales rep and he was not available, I asked the person who picked the call if they could help me. He answered "I don't know, can you wait until your sales person gets back?" and not in a joking way. Another instance that happened at delivery was the real-time delivery cost assessment for moving the items inside the house (vs. in the garage). I never received the communication that different options of delivery aside from curbside was available, and that if I required the items to be delivered anywhere other than the curbside, that a fee would have to be assessed at the time of delivery (and not before). I provided this feedback, to which the person said we did called you and said it will be delivered in the garage. My feedback was about providing customers with information and the available options vs. disputing where it was to be delivered. I didn't want to engage in the finger pointing. Given that this was a large purchase, it would have been nice to be informed of the available options and made aware of the real-time price assessment.

Dishwasher died on Saturday. That's when I discovered Home Depot, Lowe's etc. don't carry much inventory. Then I discovered University Electric. LOTS of inventory. VERY helpful staff. GREAT prices. I'm just sorry I haven't discovered these people sooner. It's definitely going to be my "go to" for appliances. Did I mention they have a HUGE display area? They really do a good job.

Customer service sucked. Nice items but I've seen better showrooms with way better personnel with personalities.

I recently bought a GE refrigerator from University Electric in Santa Clara. I chose them based on recommendations from friends and family. The sale process was easy and efficient, and the appliance was delivered 10 days later. I paid the fees requested for delivery and installation as well as removal of my old fridge. It was very clear in my address that I live on the second floor of a residential building. Unfortunately, things went South during the installation. The installers removed the fridge doors to make it fit in my (regular sized) elevator, as many other appliance delivery people have done in the past, and brought it to the second floor. After that, they informed me that I would have to pay extra for the installation because they worked harder than expected. That's half way through the installation, so I really had little recourse at that point. The delivery company called me to say that the extra fee was due to the installers having to use the stairs to bring the fridge up, which is patently untrue. At that point, I called University Electric for support, and was glad to get the same salesperson who had made the sale. To my great surprise and disappointment, the salesperson, who knew I lived on the second floor of a residential building, expressed no apologies and rather accused me, using an aggressive tone, of "hiding information" from him! I am floored at the lack of professionalism and care for customers. I am an older woman living alone, and I wonder if the treatment would have been the same (by University Electric and its installer company) if I were a young male... My deepest regrets for choosing your store!

The salesperson, Kao, was very helpful and responsive to all my questions regarding an unplanned purchase to replace my broken Kitchenaid microwave/oven range. Everything was done over the phone with no sales pressure and he helped me make sure I was purchasing the correct model as a drop in replacement into my existing cabinetry. He answered all types of questions from product dimensions to warranty coverage to installation/delivery to financing. Very pleasant experience!

The showroom has some decent displays, and the sales staff I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable. I wouldn't say the service I received was 5-star, above and beyond. I had to call a few times to follow up, but I was able to purchase my appliance without too much hassle. Overall, a relatively frictionless experience.

I purchased multiple appliances from University Electric for my kitchen remodel - a dishwasher, oven, steam oven, range and microwave. The experience was excellent from start to finish. The salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to get to know me in detail so he could make the best suggestions; the delivery (scheduling and delivery itself) was quick and hassle-free; they were a great (patient) resource when I had questions after installation; and when minor service was needed on the dishwasher, they efficiently scheduled repair. After a recent bad experience with one of their competitors, I learned my lesson. I will only buy appliances from University Electric.

Since all the reviews seem to be from people getting fancy new kitchens, I wasn't sure what kind of reception I'd get when all I wanted to buy was a countertop microwave. Turns out they treat the "small" customer just as well. I had two main issues: I wanted a specific model that local dealers didn't carry, and I wanted a full-service delivery--haul it up my stairs, unpack it and lift it to the counter, haul away the packaging and most of all, haul away my old microwave. Turns out both were hard to find. University Electric could get me the model I wanted as long as I was willing to wait 3 weeks (I was!) for it to ship from the East Coast. And best of all, they didn't bat an eye at the delivery I wanted. They got on the phone with XVM Appliance Installations, told them what I wanted, and got a ridiculously low price of $75 for the service I wanted. And the price for the microwave was the same as if I'd ordered from the manufacturer. Of course I was worried that they don't have, or at least weren't using, their own in-house delivery people/installers. I worried for the whole 3 weeks that XVM would refuse to do something we'd agreed on. They just came this morning and I worried for nothing, You would have thought they worked for University Electric, they were so friendly and helpful. They didn't just put it the new microwave on the counter as agreed, they plugged it in, set the clock, removed the protective film bits, and had me heat a cup of water to make sure it worked right. The packaging and the old microwave disappeared before I even knew what happened. Overall if you are considering a "small" purchase or a big one, and especially if you value good service, I recommend University Electric without hesitation. I don't like to leave a review without any negative, I'm suspicious of those myself. So I will just mention that the "sign in" directions aren't very clear, I couldn't find a way to do it. Just go on a non-busy weekday like I did, look helpless for a minute near the sign-in sheet like I did, and a nice salesperson will probably come along to help you.
