We always come here when in the Bay Area. Sure there are plenty of restaurants to choose from but this is right on the water, delicious food, wonderful service and free parking!

About the restaurant: Le Garage really does feel like a garage, giant metal door and all. It also feels like the kind of chef-owned bistro you'd find along the waterfront in a hip Provençal town such as Cannes or St. Tropez. Le Garage is right at the edge of Sausalito's Schoonmaker Point Marina and features an outdoor patio that's one of Marin's most popular places to dine in season. Indoors, the sleek, urban-looking room is open to the elements on one wall, so there's always a view.Food & Drinks: Big bowls of P.E.I. mussels come in two preparations. Try the version with white wine, shallots, garlic and parsley. Duck breast might be paired with sautéed stonefruits, spinach and a huckleberry gastrique. The house charcuterie platter offers homemade pâté, rabbit rillettes, head cheese and prosciutto crudo with ground mustard, cornichons and pearl onions. Ideal to share. For dessert, individual tarte Tatins are a must-have --- darkly caramelized, not-too-sweet apple slices on a puff pastry crust and topped with crème fraîche. The wine list highlights French and California offerings.
