Absolutely a tahoe treasure, great cheese, interesting charcuterie and city worthy treats. Only open a few days a week so add them to your to do list!

Excellent for specialty items at reasonable prices, particularly olive oil, dry pasta, crackers, cheeses, ice cream, etc.. We would call to check for daily items such as meats and fish. The owner is always very friendly and helpful.

Such a great shop. If you're looking for something special, this is your place. I can count on zero fingers the number of times I've NEEDED to buy caviar, but on New Year's Eve I really WANTED to buy some, and Market 28 had a nice selection. Spotted some great cheeses and other things you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else around here. Thanks!

Very cute but tiny place with excellent charcuterie, cheese and snacks. Lovely assortment of cookbooks and kitchenware as well, and some high end condiments and jams and things. Guy working there was very nice and told me they were getting ready to add wine to the shop, which I think will be an awesome addition. We also got some yummy cookie samples while we browsed.

Fun specialist food store in Tahoe city. Superb ingredients and samples of almost everything. The owner Kip is friendly and knowledgeable. Try the noble #1 syrup ... get some nice cheese or speciality meat or 50 year old balsamic ( and be amazed!) or get some stuff to help you play with your food ( molecular gastronomy). It may be small but market 28 has a great flavor.

This small, unique market fills a gap left by the supermarket mass-produced items. Looking for great balsamic vinegar, the best-tasting olive oil, superior ice cream, small batch products that fill your heart as well as your tummy? This place is just what you'very been searching for. Instead of spending two hours driving to Reno and back, find the best in Tahoe City at Market 28.

Nice nice people but the selections are very limited. It seems like if they carried more things they would get more return customers. It seems so empty in there like they are barely in business. Couldn't find one dairy free item.

Truly the most amazing, inspiring store I've ever set foot in. Although it be small, i could have spent hours in there. The owners passion for culinary arts and other worldly ingredients is evident within seconds. Although i was financially unprepared, i could have spent hundreds of dollars in there with no remorse, and spent a day conversing with the owner. If you have a love for cooking, and find yourself in tahoe, I can not recommend any place more. I will not soon forget my 15 minutes spent in that place.

The reviewer below me is an idiot. (Facebook requires at least 50 characters for a review, but there is nothing else to say... I guess you wasted your time reading this part of my review. The first part however still holds true.)

This place was a joke. Every booth sold the same manufactured stuff. Everybody begs you to come in their booth. It's nowhere near as nice as going to the open air markets in places like Jamaica. I saw very few unique handmade items.

we had an enjoyable time browsing the selection of gourmet items. We were able to purchase a few small gifts: saffron, salted chocolate, specialty mustards. Nothing was cheap. The quality is good, though. The service rep in the store was very kind and knowledgeable.
