Small place, but it's a small place with tons of potential. I honestly wish the town could see how much this small library could honestly deliver... The staff if very friendly, very helpful. I honestly think they deserve more than what the city can offer.
Yes most definitely 😁 I recommend this spot to anyone.

It's a very spacious and cool place to hang out when the temperature outside goes over a hundred degrees. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. And it's a well stocked library for all ages.

The staff is lovely and the reason I come back. But this county library nickel and dimes you for every possible thing. $1.50 to check out a dvd? I've lived in 3 other counties in California and I've never had to pay to initially take out a title.Sonoma County libraries got rid of late fees and provide more services despite not having fee income. SB county is the largest in the US but they can't do the same? It's sad

The Twenty-nine Palms branch of the San Bernardino County Library System (SBCL) wouldn't be a 4 star library if in a large urban area, but, in its context, it easily is. There are several good reasons for this. I believe Joshua Tree has its own library, which I haven't been in, but over the past few years when I've been in this area, I have seemingly defaulted to the Yucca Valley branch. After finding this library more recently, coming back here is a slam dunk decision, even if it will take half a gallon of gas more in each direction to do so. First and foremost, the library has a good, airy feel with big windows oriented toward the north, so the quality of the light is excellent for library purposes. The library in Yucca Valley feels more shoehorned into its space, and thus feels more crowded, and its parking lot isn't as clearly identifiable as it is here. The service at "29" is excellent. Albeit small, this is a demographically diverse area, with its local residents, a military installation nearby, visitors to the national park, and others. That tends to make employees anywhere more receptive to patrons from other places, and the Twenty-nine Palms branch certainly is. And, so many people in the High Desert seem to also have roots in the never-ending megalopolis surrounding Los Angeles, which always makes for a shared chuckle. I was even able to get a library card for the SBCL system. So, why am I at a library when I should be outside under the sun? For one, it's air conditioned! Also, I can be a bit of a nerd and I will own that. The main reason is that I used libraries a lot growing up and they made for better places to do homework and study for tests than does someone's own home and all the distractions that come with that. Nowadays, it is so nice to get out of that myopic "cell phone for everything" mode and actually sit behind a desktop computer, which I did and enjoyed. They do have a decent collection of books in their stacks, DVDs and other media seems to be available in ample quantities, their tables and chairs are spacious for laying things out, there is a surprisingly large children's area, the bathrooms are kept in very good order, and there are even ancillary meeting rooms for patron and community specific needs. Visit the different libraries in the 3 main High Desert towns along CA-62. I'm going to guess that if you do, you too may take a liking to the Twenty-nine Palms branch of the SBCL system and choose it, much like it sort of "chooses" you.
