I had my first experience with Annie at Rare Byrd Salon this week. I unfortunately entered the salon with my hair looking like a dumpster fire. Bad previous haircut & damaged hair. Annie did her magic turning this ugly mess into a master piece. I’ve received so many compliments already, thank you Annie! A bonus is this salon has a very welcoming vibe. No mean girls, just stylists doing their art. I have made another appointment with Annie. You have a life long client.

A chill, funky and aesthetic vibe at Rare Byrd. Everyone is nice and look they enjoy being there! Really have loved my visits with Heather. She's incredibly skilled, detail-oriented, so genuine and friendly, and a responsive communicator. I felt comfortable with her right away.
We did a full demi-permanent at my first visit with her and then a root touch up 2 months later. I love the way my hair looks and feels, and her cutting technique is great too! Can't recommend her enough!

After deciding to let my hair grow out to its natural dark brown threaded with plenty of silver, I opted for a new salon and stylist to achieve my new look. For fifteen months now, Heather at Rare Byrd has been doing an outstanding job of styling and coloring my hair. What I noticed immediately is that Heather is both knowledgeable and passionate about being a stylist. My hair is fine, yet wavy and full, meaning it is flat on top but widens out considerably as it reaches my shoulders. The cut Heather and I agreed upon - shoulder length, layered, with a side bang - has not only been flattering but is so much faster and easier to style. Her skills as a colorist are also excellent, and the various techniques she’s used (from the initial all-over color to the present low-lights) have been flattering and natural-looking. Heather listens attentively, is honest in her recommendations, and makes sure that everything is done to my satisfaction. The fact that she is funny, caring, and enthusiastic also helps to make having my hair done an enjoyable and relaxing experience I look forward to each time. The salon itself is bright and airy, with whimsical touches throughout. I’ve also noticed that a large number of women visiting the other stylists are clearly satisfied, repeat customers at Rare Byrd. On a final note, while the prices may seem a bit high compared to some salons, my satisfaction with the experience and results is so worth it!

I love my stylist Brittany! She is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. She did my balayage about 4 months ago and I am so happy with how naturally it continues to look as it grows out. I would definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a lived in blonde!
I also love the vibe at the studio and everyone is there is so nice

Postive and empathetic but also a master of her craft. I felt like a new person getting a shape up of my curls from her at my most recent cut. I can’t believe I went so long in between cuts before. I also added on a scalp scrub and it was so relaxing and soothing. I also love the space, all the staff at Rare Byrd contribute to a great atmosphere.

I’ve been going to Shae for nearly 20 years now, and there’s a reason for that loyalty. She truly gets my fine but thick curly hair in a way no one else has. What I love most is how she balances pushing me to try new things while steering me away from styles that either won’t work with my hair type or that I’ll hate maintaining. That kind of personalized attention is rare!
When Shae moved to Rare Byrd Salon, I followed (of course) and wow, what a perfect fit. The salon is super chill and filled with plants, which instantly makes me feel at home. It’s staffed by women who create this judgment-free zone where I can just relax and be myself. The upbeat attitude of everyone working there matches Shae’s vibe completely, which is why I’ve stuck with her all these years. My 18-year-old niece is now equally obsessed with both Shae and the salon!
Practical stuff matters too - parking is easy, and I love that they regularly rotate their merchandise with items that have a bit of cheek and personality to them. It’s those little touches that make the whole experience special.
I’ve followed Shae through various salons and colorists over the years, but I have to give a special shoutout to Mayna at Rare Byrd. After being blonde my entire life, she recently took me red, and the results were honestly spectacular. The color looked so natural that within weeks, I’d recommended her to several friends and acquaintances who commented on how authentic the red looked - not that “came from a box” vibe at all.
If you’re looking for hair stylists who really listen and a salon environment that feels welcoming rather than pretentious, you can’t go wrong with Shae and the team at Rare Byrd. After two decades, I’m still a devoted client, and now bringing the next generation with me!

I have been seeing Gabrielle at Rare Byrd for a few years now and she is INCREDIBLE!! She is a marker of curly cuts, she always leaves me feeling refreshed and beautiful. I’ve gotten my mother, father, fiancé, and brother to go to her and we all collectively love her work. Whether it be a men’s cut, coloring, or curly cut she is an amazing.

This is my favorite salon! I trust Gabrielle immensely with my hair, especially in applying color to dark hair. The salon itself is an amazingly comfortable environment and I always look forward to my appointments and leave feeling refreshed and beautiful!

I have been going to Shae for many years now, which I think speaks volumes when it comes to finding a good stylist. Haircuts can be an uplifting experience when you find yourself in the care of someone who knows their craft and takes the time to listen. Shae is that person for me.
She has seen my hair evolve from easy to manage, to now, difficult to manage due to hair loss and regrowth, along with changing hair texture. No matter what I am experiencing, Shae always takes the time to ask questions and offer suggestions, all the while demonstrating a compassion and gentleness I truly appreciate.
I always know I am going to feel better when I leave the salon thanks to Shae.

This salon’s aesthetic is literally so cute. Heather was the best, I now know that I have half wavy/half curly hair because she gave me a haircut that actually works for my hair type and is manageable for me as an on-the-go mom. Now I can wash, throw in some leave-ins +mousse and air dry and still look like I tried for the day!lol P.S. book with Heather for a bomb head massage during your shampoo

I dont like when someone does a bad job but then tries to convince you how they did a great job. Hello I can see my hair!!! An apology would have been nice! I’ve been doing it the same way for years and years so I know when its an eff up. I’m so frustated and sad because now I need to give it a long break before trying to fix this. I am sure there are good stylists at this place but I would maybe vet them better or at least try to teach them how to react respectfully to clients when they mess up. Trying to convince a person how good of a job you did instead of apologizing is so demeaning. Anyway, I will not be taking a chance again and its $$$.
