Not only have they closed the gym one day a week to fund the homeless, it has became a hang out for them as well. Several times I have been in the locker room and it stinks like human fecal matter, disgusting. I even notified the front desk of a mess in the locker room, worked out for an hour, went back and it hadn't been addressed. Piles of bags of garbage by a shower stall and a horrid stench coming from the person showering. Someone using the swimsuit dryer to dry their dirty clothes. A person passed out in the changing area where adults AND children are present. People working out in the weight/cardio area with no shoes. I don't think I will be renewing my membership. So sad it has come to this.

The staff aren't engaging, but like Central Park rec center, this one is also packed with rude teens. They have zero etiquette training, workout on machines in packs with little to no skill, and sometimes just sit on machines. The kids here are hostile and privileged and honestly makes for a really negative experience for those of us who want to work out for better health. This isn't the place to be if you have a schedule and work as most the teens will just break machines and goof off, treat others terribly, and take so much time on a machine totally oblivious to others or just not caring. The personal "trainers" are a joke. They watch people and copy rec center members routines. The "trainers" also get other people's spaces and get in paying rec center members way intentionally. They're also creepy b/c they're always staring at people working out and not paying attention to their "clients."

Spotless and complete. Lane swimming is well managed, well equipped. Basketball courts and gym are seldom crowded. Kids swimming area is unreal. There is even a birthday party room.

If you need to take a "cold" shower this is the place for you. More often than not they have no hot water. I've never had that issue at the Central Park rec center, or any other Denver Rec center.

Great pool, fitness areas including stretching, cardio, spin, basketball to get the body moving. Locker rooms a bit lack luster.

If you don't nail the timing of coming to this gym it is basically unusable due to the packs of high school kids who come over from next door. I would say on average about one in twenty are actually using the gym and the rest are just there to socialize and be in the way. Really is unfortunate.

Lots of fun! Took our kids to the pool fire done Saturday morning fun. The big slide was only open for a few minutes and the climbing wall in the pool was closed. Great price and lots to do.

New to the neighborHood and highly disappointed some people that work the front desk don't know simple information as to when they close....guy tells me 9... Website says 8... Guy assures me it's at 9... Take the kids there and hang out for a sec then go down the block for a brew while the kids do their thing. No sooner as I sat down and got a cold one, my phone was blowing up, kids said they're closing and I gotta get them asap! So I paid 8.50 for a beer I barely took a " BIG" drink of and had to run all the way back... Good times.....??

I had my family reunion this past July here at the Carla Madison Center and I must say it was the most amazing experience. This venue is beautiful and reasonably priced. I can’t say enough about the staff. Troy is awesome! He is one of the most professional people that I’ve had the pleasure to meet. I don’t know the names of the other staff members but they all did an awesome job. I would highly recommend this place to any and everyone who is having an event.

Pros: very affordable, especially if you get in during their annual sale in November. Really can’t beat the price for a full gym with good equipment and a full lap pool.Cons: gets very crowded during peak times, and during the school year it’s worse as students from next door come over right after. Happy that it can provide a safe place for the community, but staff need to be better about enforcing some of their rules (kids under 14 messing around on weight equipment, etc). Also pieces of of equipment are often broken and can take a while for them to get fixed. Finally limited hours (especially during the summer) can be frustrating. So if you want an affordable option for a gym and can go in the morning/early afternoon this is a great choice, but definitely has its drawbacks.

Here’s a perfect example of a government trying to compete with private enterprise-look what you get for 20 bucks the most restricted hours available for any gym. When you can spend 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost for Chuze or Planet Fitness and get 10 times the quality of gym why why ever support government enterprises like this poorly managed gym? Denver should step out of the way close this gym downr take a lesson from its private enterprise big brothers like Chuze and Planet fitness. Happy Haynes needs to be recalled fired thrown out or however, you can get rid of her since she can’t run a crummy little gym

My kids love the slide & the pool. The lifeguards are very watchful. So yes I recommend this rec center.
