The clam chowder delicious! The prime rib cooked to perfection and delicious at every bite. Loved the grapefruit soda too. The star of the show was the truffle fries. I am spoiled. Thank you for an amazing culinary experience.

This is my go to place for special occasions because I know the food will be excellent and as far as I’m concerned the best service I’ve experienced in any restaurant in CT. Has never disappointed me.

With tall crimson walls, oversize abstract paintings and an entry display of wine bottles that is, in itself, a work of art, Hartford's big name beef and seafood emporium doesn't feel like your typical dark-paneled steakhouse. And, it isn't. Admittedly, the anchor restaurant for downtown Hartford's blossoming Front Street district is part of a chain. But, as its name implies, it's befitting of a capital city, and what it lacks in local identity, it makes up for by providing a consistently polished experience. Service can even be overly attentive, so take advantage of that clinginess to chat up staff for menu insights. You'll learn that the starter of lobster bisque swims with chunks of the crustacean, and you must save room for the caramelized cheesecake made with fluffy ricotta. Between those rich bookends, your meal can take surprising plot twists, and you'll be provided with a digital tablet to browse the extensive wine list for supporting characters. Yes, dry-aged sirloin is a smoky and satisfying option, or indulge in a thick cut of Chilean sea bass. We like that The Capital Grille --- unlike competitors that nickel and dime --- includes a choice of side. Parmesan truffle fries are the way to go. They're served with lunchtime's six playful burger selections, too, from the Kona coffee-crusted Wagyu patty to the lobster and crab burger. One thing servers won't tell you? "No." They'll go to lengths to accommodate requests, and even your bag of leftovers will have a classy touch: a note from the chef.
