I walked in and it's a pretty large store, however it doesn't seem to have a lot of stuff. The prices are pretty high but I know you're paying for where you're at. Most of the things were things you could find at big name brands. However it was just nice to see the things that they did have. I wish the selection was a little bit better and the service was good.

Love the atmosphere of this toy store, and we want support local, but prices on most items we found were DOUBLE the price listed on Amazon.

My families experience in this store is similar to the other negative reviews. The women was not nice followed us around the store, my 2 year old son loves trucks but apparently you are not allowed to touch the toys she walked over and removed toys from his hands and proceeded to say you do not want to break the toys then you would have to buy them and people don’t want to buy broken toys. She started off by trying to show us a book oh this is nice and durable you should buy this it’s great. Sorry lady I will not give you a cent of my money. My son was picking out what truck he wanted. If you do not want kids to touch the toys do not have a toy store geared towards kids. These people are in the wrong business. Open an adult only store not A TOY STORE. I’m a strong supporter of small businesses but not someone that treats customers this way.

The store is small and when there are more than a few people looking around it’s pretty difficult to shop around. They have a nice selection of toys but unfortunately the staff member who helped us wasn’t very friendly or helpful. When looking around it felt as if she was just watching us the entire time but didn’t ask if we needed help/ assistance. We were checking out and the staff member made it seem like it was an inconvenience that we were buying something. I then asked if the store had tap to pay/ Apple Pay. Immediately the staff member got snippy and took the machine from behind the counter and I paid with no issue. I’m not sure if they prefer cash although there was nothing posted or anything that would indicate they preferred cash. Overall, it wasn’t a pleasant experience which is unfortunate.

Terrible experience at this store. The lady was extremely rude, I agree with the other reviews. Why open a toy store I’d you hate children and do not want them to play with the toys in your store. This lady probably should think about opening a different store that doesn’t allow children instead of taking toys out of kids hands. Completely unprofessional.

I loved the gift I got for my son. He's going to love it. I thought about waiting for Christmas, but I won't be able to. LoL.

The shop owner was disgusting rude! My little one put the corner of a box in his mouth and shop owner came over to yell at us. Even though there was no damage to the box she tried to get me to buy it. Well she lectured me on watching my child which I was when he grabbed it I immediately took it away. This woman should be ashamed of herself. I didn’t answer her back honestly I was just so stunned that someone was speaking to me like this. I have never been treated so rudely. Clearly this woman has serious issues!! No one should buy anything from the store because this woman does not deserve anyone’s business. She’s a horrible person.

Didn’t want to leave a review as my experience was maybe 5 years ago, but having seen other similar reviews I felt I needed to share. My husband and I were on a weekend vacation in Mystic and walked around the shop, perusing. The merchandise is adorable but as we don’t have children to shop for, we left empty handed. The woman who was working there followed us around the store and then followed us out as we left. She clearly made up her mind that we were stealing. So incredibly rude. Her business is in a vacation town. Has she not seen other people just pop in to peruse before?

Betsy at Toy Soldier is an amazingly generous person who lent HER OWN granddaughters’ doll high chair when my order couldn’t be filled at Christmas due to the pandemic/supply chain!

Place is clean and organized with amazing selection of toys, games, books etc. Respectful owner who valued and prioritized our health and safety, especially during this new variant and even offered masks when people were needing them. Handled rude customers very professionally and with kindness. Would return especially for incredible gifts this holiday season!

What a great toy store! Loved all of the unique toys, the prices were reasonable for the high quality items, and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. She helped us select great gifts for specific ages. All around a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for a return trip.

I shop at this quaint toy store annually before the holidays for my 2 grandsons and am never disappointed with the toys, games, costumes, books, cars and more! The woman there showed me the hand puppets this year. Great choice, a baby dragon for one and a kitten for the other! I love how interactive the play is with puppets. As a Healthcare provider, I was pleased to see that masks are required in this store. It takes so little to help us all be safer. Til next year Toy Soldier.

I shopped at this store yesterday in Old Mystic Village and could not have had a better experience. This toy shop is quintessential toy shopping perfection (and the owner who happened to be working the front during my visit was so incredibly kind and helpful). I know what a hard time this is for everyone during this pandemic and the Toy Soldier is doing an amazing job at continuing to provide this charming store for kids (and kids at heart ;) such as myself) while doing their due diligence keeping the customers and employees safe following recommended masking and distancing guidelines. It gave me such peace of mind shopping there knowing they are taking every precaution available to assure my visit is a safe one (I am a RN (that works part time caring for very sick and compromised children on respiratory ventilators) as well as a homeschooling mother to two little boys (one with a rare autoimmune disorder) so I take this business' care very personally and am filled with gratitude. We are also a military family 9 months into my husband's 1 year over seas deployment so to say that my Christmas shopping time this season is small and valuable would be a huge understatement... my trip to the Toy Soldier could not have been more lovely and my time and money well spent. I will forever be a supporting customer of this great establishment. Thank you for all that you do for our community and keeping the magic of the toy soldier alive and a safe place to shop during this pandemic. My family (and my patients families) are grateful.

Rude staff, bad prices, poor selection, and literally the only shop in the Village that is still requiring masks. Can't think of a reason to shop here, honestly, when there are two other places with toys for kids within the Village that are way more pleasant.
