Good grocery store. Seafood manager is a kind of a dick but the seafood itself isn't bad. Also, there is a bar. All said, a nice grocery experience.

I'm really disappointed in this Giant's attempt at carryout lunch. They have expanded their sandwich, panini and pizza menu, but the sandwiches in the display all look dry and weathered by 2:00pm. The service was slow and very surly - I felt like I was interrupting his other, more important work. I ordered a panini and waited for about 6 minutes, which was totally acceptable. They have installed a cash register there at the counter and I asked if I could go ahead and pay while I was waiting. I was told I had to walk all the way over to the registers to pay. That is not very conducive to 'grab and go'. With the fancy new Wegmans one block away, Giant needs to step up their game if they hope to compete in the work lunch market.

I never knew there's such a thing as Giant with an in-store bar!!! I'm not a drinker but I thought the concept was neat. There were few customers / couples watching the game and drinking. Sorta like a neighborhood bar but in the middle of Giant grocery store of all places. The garage parking is free if it's under a certain amount of time and the store offers good bakery items and hot chicken wings and fried rice bar. I bought some spring rolls that tasted nice and crispy but the sesame chicken was over cooked and sickly sweet. The general tso's chicken was surprisingly spicy. It caught me off guard. LOL!!I wouldn't mind revisiting whenever I need something quick to pick up given the ease of parking.

I started shopping at this location a few years ago after having fallen in love with it during my first visit from my home in 16th St. Heights NW. I just shopped at the bakery this week for the first time and had an excellent experience! I was throwing my son a 5th Birthday Party, he loves Spiderman, and we expected numerous children. Theresa the Manager was great to speak with and in-person, and she helped me pick out the right cake and informed me it could be baked on Friday and held overnight for an early morning pickup on Saturday prior to the party (the cake was going to be huge, enough for "65" people, and would not fit in my refrigerator). I went into pick it up at 7:00am on Saturday, it was both ready and looked awesome, and both the price ($69.99) and customer service could not have been better. I also had the opportunity to meet Rabiaa the baker, also a joy to chat with and truly gifted in the art of baking. My son loved the cake, as did the many children and adults that ate from it, and my wife and I could not be more grateful. Thanks again to Theresa, Rabiaa, and the many terrific employees at Giant Store #2379!

My cashier wore no mask and decided it would be a good idea to wipe her nose with her fingers and then with the very same set of fingers, apply lip gloss while she was ringing me up and handling my groceries. Beyond disgusting. Tighten up Giant. Usually my experience is much better.

I like the store and usually shop at it--nice staff, good selection. However, I have mobility issues, and over the past few months, accessibility has become a major problem to the point where I could not get up to the store from the garage tonight. For at least 2 months at least one escalator and one elevator have been broken. That's been bad enough. Today, both escalators and both elevators were broken down. I think this puts the property in violation of the ADA. Why is this property on a downward slide? When will this be fixed?

Oh, the inner conflict that is summoned when evaluating THE cathedral commons giant. As my meditation book instructs: "there is good and bad in everything." Buckle your belts and twist the radio knob because this will be a wild ride.Any (now) young adult who "came of age" remotely close to this joint understands its importance. My memories here include: purchasing yogurt at 11 PM as a junior in high school; dodging a teacher completing errands; enduring a college interview in the Starbucks (in retrospect, a unique choice on the university's part, given that the interviewer and I were in eyeshot of the alcoholic bar. Que Sera.)Sentimentalism aside, some of this Giant's PROS to the average consumer: (a) abundant underground parking, (b) random items going on sale i.e. the saturday special of Martinelli's for $1.99, (c) the cast of characters, it's just a great spot to people-watch, (d) the lovely security guards greeting customers upon entry, genuinely kind and welcoming people.CONS: (a) the freaking high prices (I understand this age is one of inflation, but that is little consolation when I can buy spices at Trader Joes down the road for a quarter of Giant's costs), (b) janky looking produce/ meat, (c) the closure of the once-operative back elevator which means there is only one exit now and store is more congested towards Wisconsin ave, (d) Starbucks that is perennially short of whipped cream, cold foam, grilled cheese, etc.The more you know. Overall, the staff here is wonderful.

This is the second complaint I need to write about untrained pets in grocery stores. As a retail food establishment you very well know that this is an unsanitary practice. You are allowing untrained dogs/pets within your store riding inside shopping carts. I do understand that people with service dogs should be allowed, but service dogs are well-behaved, and they do not sniff, or lick food, or ride inside shopping carts were food is placed. Allowing a pet inside a shopping cart that among other things carries food for human consumption is unsanitary and it may pose a health hazard since you don't know the health history of these pets. Nobody knows if they have regular veterinary check-ups? Or any health concern that may pose a risk for others. Pets shouldn't be touching surfaces that are in contact with food for human consumption at retail food stores (shopping carts, aisles, conveyor belts, etc.) What are the state guidance and regulations for the retail food industry, especially in a situation like this one? Food safety should be the priority in a establishment like yours.

What a great super market. I'm sorry I'm from NJ and NY so I'm spoiled, can't give it a 5 .what super market has a bar with hot dog samples!? But how does anyone drink, mask, and shop? Is it me? They have a nice variety of produce very fresh, believe it or not south Jersey produce are horrible! The store was clean and the offer self checkout.

Carol Barber is really a disgusting, mean-spirited, unprofessional, sloppy, fat, disrespectful miserable, dusty, poor excuse for an employee. Carol may be a front-end manager. When I asked another employee for her last name. No one wanted to give me that information. Carol called me a b**** as I was speaking to a lovely and kind cashier named Helen. Carol interrupted our conversation. Then got in my face with her long nails. When I made it absolutely clear that she will not disrespect me. Especially a loyal paying customer. Carol ran to get the security to escort me out. I've never been so disrespected. The fact she had the mitigated gall to treat a paying customer so rudely by calling me out my name, get in my face to threaten me to wait until midnight so she could beat me up, and then get security is UNACCEPTABLE!!! Clearly, this is a normal practice for Carol. What type of example is she setting for the other employees and for management. This pisspoor behavior makes Giant look extremely horrible. I miss Bruce!!! Bruce would've never allowed this behavior in his store. I wish Yelp had Negative stars to select because even then that still wouldn't rate how despicable this Giant has become in hiring the likes of Carol. She needs to be fired expeditiously!!!

A decent well-stocked supermarket in Cathedral Heights. I've been shopping here for the last 4 years or so and have been generally pleased with the overall experience, including the helpfulness of the staff and their offerings. In recent months, one of the highlights of my shopping experience has been being greeted by the security guard at the entrance, whose name I unfortunately do not recall, but whose cheerful and friendly demeanor has made me feel welcome. I do, however, have two complaints. First, one of my major pet peeves is when supermarkets alter the layout of how their products are displayed, so that as a consumer you end up spending extra time looking for products that are moved to a place different from their regular placements. This store moves things around quite often and it's very annoying. Second, I wish they carried Jenni's Ice Cream, as most supermarkets in DC already do.

This is where I shop the most for my food. I really like it because the produce is always really fresh which is not something I can take for granted living in the city. Their selection is huge. They have an underground parking garage that validates your ticket which is also so nice. Always a pleasant time there!

The worst customer service ever. Like ever. I only go here when I have to because it's so conveniently located near my house. If I have the time I drive to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods because customer service matters. Giant prices are not great either.

This is my neighborhood grocery store and I am so grateful for it. The selection is good, the employees are friendly, and the parking is validated. Additionally, the staff worked very hard during the COVID stay-at-home order, risking their own well-being to ensure that shelves were stocked so we could shop. Many of these poor reviews have to be from people who have never had to shop at truly sub-par grocery stores. This store is wonderful.

This Giant is great. The only things I have to complain about are the previous reviews, most of which reek of Northwest DC spoiled privilege.
