Jerry/Gerry (the name the employee gave as he was not showing his Avis ID) kept looking at his mobile phone instead of trying to help us. He was rude and showed no interest in assisting a customer. If he doesn't want to do his job, why is he even there? Being a Preferred member I decided not to rent from Avis because of this reason.

TL;DR Rented car from Avis while on vacation, waited two hours in queue to reach the counter at airport. Car was in mediocre condition. Car broke down with bad battery. Customer service level after breakdown was terrible.
First and foremost I would like to qualify myself by stating that I rarely leave reviews, with the aim of only doing so in extraordinary circumstances; this being one of them.
I rented a car from Avis from the Fort Lauderdale Airport on Saturday, May 18th for 5-days. In order to rent the car I queued 1.5-2 hours (a hell of a long time to wait after landing) to be served as there was approximately 13 customers in front of me waiting to do the same and only one attendent servicing the general line which appeared to be understaffed (there was a separate attendent servicing the preferred line). This delayed my arrival at the hotel and started a Avis theme for the vacation.
The condition of the car was generally OK (3/5) with sand from the previous driver visible, seat belts appearing out of place, and the drivers side seat belt missing the plastic cover (the bit where the seat belt comes out of). I don't have pictures of this as I wouldn't leave a bad review for just this, and it was too late to take them after the car broke down as I was trying to solve for the immediate emergency.
But wait, there is more. 3-days into my rental the car broke down due to a battery issue forcing me to return the rental 2-days early. I was incredibly lucky that the battery died at my hotel and that I was able to return the car to a separate Avis Branch that was attached to my hotel. The W Hotel Avis Branch, was generally unhelpful and unwilling to provide assistance, instead referring me their roadside assistance even though the car was about 20-meters away (which is even more stressful given that you're renting in a foreign country). Avis' roadside assistance platform wanted to charge me roughly $127 USD to have the car boosted. The attendant working asked me how I was going fill the remainder of the gas tank upon arriving with a car with a dead battery and did not offer to provide me with a replacement vehicle. I must say that after reiterating that I cannot fill the gas on a vehicle with a dead battery he was kind enough to waive the refill fee. Needless to say, we missed our engagements for the next 2-days as we weren't given a replacement. I was offered a refund for the 2-days that I didn't use the rental but was told that was only possible because I didn't prepay for the rental.
Ultimately, between the long wait time at the check-out counter, the mediocore state of the car at the time of rental, the mechanical issues, and the terrible service I received thereafter, I do not intend to rent from Avis again for business or for pleasure.

Made a reservation with booster seats. Showed up and was told they don’t actually have booster seats. They weren’t willing to help at all. Pretty much was told it was my problem.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If you happen to come while the counter is staffed, it can be ok. Or service can be surly. If you happen to come while the operator is at Budget, you can waste a whole hour. It seems incredibly cheap for them to split staff across these locations. Just close one. Next time, I’ll use Sixt.

Amazing service, i stayed at the hotel and kept the car in the garage, when my tire went flat, the gentleman from Avis pumped my tire and did full service on checking the car and I kept driving the car for 2 weeks no problem. Thank you Avis for professional service.

I was a bit scared due to the previous reviews. I had to drop a car there and everything went well. There were two employees. Professionals and efficient. The process was flawless.

Best rental experimce. Sagar was incredibly nice and accommodating. Vehicle was great and better than expected. Location was significantly less expensive than renting from the airport. Maybe not as much inventory so fewer choices but better car for category. Also saved time as airport location is off premise so savings great car and excellent service.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DONT USE THIS LOCATION! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Make sure you show up 1+ hour early because you'll have to wait, if anyone even shows up! The representative was rude and argumentative. Better off returning to airport and Uber to your location. After talking to locals and people who live in the W hotel, they never recommend that location to anyone because it is ran so poorly. Don't bother calling Avis customer service because they were just as rude and offered no hope. At the end of the day I had to park my car in the "Avis" area with my invoice in the front window. Was still charged with late fee.

We had a reservation, showed up to a dozen people waiting in the lobby, but NO staff in sight. After 10 minutes, everyone was told that the cars ran out, and everyone needed to switch to the waitlist instead. Kinda ridiculous that they give out 'reservations' but it's fake if there are no cars available.

Worst dealership ever for Avis, not helpful at all and management team is even worse. Deal with the airport location or any other location in the world
