Doug’s expertise & genuine care were evident to us throughout the home buying process. He looked over each home like it was his own purchase. When the windows & roof needed replacement, he knew exactly who to contact to obtain reasonable pricing & quick work. Doug made many trips to the house on our behalf to meet with the inspector & contractors while we continued our busy work days. We have used Doug to buy two properties and sell one. On the most recent purchase, I was ready to accept the sellers counter offer and Doug convinced me to put in another two counters. He was right, and we ended up with a significant savings. I think most Realtors would have just tried to close the sale and let their clients over pay.
The second purchase was under priced, but only a few hours from going under contract with another buyer. Doug was able to stop the sale and convince the seller to take our offer instead. This took a lot of finesse since the seller was in a hurry to close and reluctantly gave us the due diligence time we needed.
The house he sold for us was well advertised and marketed. The pictures, staging and video were incredible. I have no doubt that Doug got us at least an extra 5% more than any other Agent could have gotten. We will continue to recommend Doug in the future. His local market knowledge is incredible and he puts his clients satisfaction above his commission.

We were at a loss to find a real estate agent who we could rely on since we were purchasing an out-of-state home. Luckily, our sister-in-law recommended Doug who quickly ascertained exactly what we were looking for. Doug is very knowledgeable about the Daytona Beach area and was very patient with us as we perused several houses. He set aside a few days for us to travel to FL and look at a multitude of properties. We were impressed with the thoroughness of his initial walkthroughs. Once, we placed a bid on a house, Doug continued to work diligently for us. When the home inspection report was sent to us, he took it upon himself to go back to the house and check on some of the issues and shared his findings with us so that we could make an informed decision on how to proceed. Doug made us feel like we were old friends and put us at ease every step of the way. We do not often leave reviews, but in this particular case, we inquired about how we could leave one simply because Doug offered superior service and knowledge. Last year we were on the market to sale our house in Ormond Beach. For a while my family was searching for the right person to help us. Eventually we found very intelligent, highly professional and just down to earth person to do business with.Doug Gernert took full charge to get all necessary things done to insure quick sale of our property. He went above and beyond his responsibilities to help me sell my house from a distance, as I live in the different part of the state. Doug has made himself available in the evening and on the weekends, proactively getting answers to our various questions. I always found comfort in the knowledge that he is on top of all issues. After having worked with many different realtors in multiple states and cities, I can say without a doubt that Doug Gernert is the best realtor that my husband and I have ever had. Whereas there have been times that we questioned whether a realtor truly had our best interest in mind, there was never a question that Doug was looking out for us. He approached each home with such a watchful eye that you would think he was buying the property for himself. Upon entering a property, he would examine it from the perspective of what could potentially be an issue if we were to buy the property, but also let us know the positive aspects of the home. It was such a relief to know that Doug had our back, even when we first looked at a property.Doug's knowledge of the area was also a big plus. He was able to come to each showing not only having knowledge about the home's current condition, but also with a perspective about the home's and immediate area's historical context. Doug also never gave any indication that he was too busy for us. He never tired of showing us homes, or acted put out. In fact, he often stated that he wanted us to make sure that we were getting the best house, since we would have to live there! If we ever had a question, Doug always promptly responded, and researched the answer for us. He took the initiative to go above and beyond if he felt it was in our best interest. When we had a contract on our house and the inspector felt there may be a leak, he immediately went out to the house to look, dug around, found the leak and turned the water off. Doug’s wife Heather is an absolute doll, and frequently assisted Doug. She added a valuable aesthetic viewpoint, and consistently exhibited the same hard working and helpful approach as Doug. As an added bonus, she is a “paint whisperer” and can detect differences in paint color that I am quite sure most human eyes cannot.Looking at new homes can be overwhelming for a buyer, and thankfully Doug and Heather often remembered our home “wish list” better than we did. For example, they would ask, “But where would your piano go?” or remind us that we needed space for both of our home offices. And as an added bonus, they are fun to be around!I can say that I recommend Doug Gernert as your next realtor without reservation. I will be singing his praises to all of my friends and family in need of a new home!
