I’ve been bringing my classic Porsches and Ferraris to Merlin for years, and Adam and his team have always been the go-to guys for these kinds of cars. They really know their stuff when it comes to keeping special cars on the road. They’re not the cheapest shop in town, but if you care about your car, you get what you pay for….and with Merlin that means peace of mind and top-notch work.
I drive my cars regularly, and anyone who’s owned a 20+ year old Porsche (or especially a Ferrari) knows they can be temperamental. Merlin’s kept mine healthy and reliable, and they always make sure I leave happy. They recently did a full mechanical restoration on my 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello and the thing drives like a brand new car now. Amazing. Big thanks to the whole crew over there.

I took my 1985 Ferrari Mondial that was experiencing a rich running condition for service. I chose Merlin due to their perceived reputation. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. They kept the car for over 8 months, ran up well over $10000 in repair bills, failed to fix anything and then gave up. They actually returned the car in worse condition than when I brought it in and did not even bother to put it back together.
I took the car to a different shop and they literally diagnosed and repaired the issue within 10 minutes of having the car. The technician was dumbfounded that Merlin could not fix the issue as it was obvious and simple. The car runs perfect now.
A good service center is an absolute necessity for enjoying these cars. However, a bad one will kill your experience (and your wallet). Merlin is good at marketing prestige and expertise, but the results do not back it up. Thank goodness I didn’t let them touch my Testarossa. They were originally scheduled to do it’s major service but I dodged a bullet there.
I will say I believe Merlin’s head technician is experienced and wanted to help. However, I don’t believe he actually personally worked on my car other than maybe giving it a quick look over.
