Smack dab in the hub of Waikīkī! Great service the rooms are very nice but the furniture is outdated, but a great bathroom and spend the extra for the luau, it was great, although I wasn’t crazy about the dinner. Several restaurants to choose from, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet 3 days… very good

Dear Hale Koa Manager,
I recently stayed at the Hale Koa Hotel and wanted to provide feedback regarding your military discount rates. As a retired Air Force veteran and a 100% disabled permanent member, I deeply value establishments that support our community.
During my visit, I observed that the military discount rates did not seem competitive compared to other nearby hotels. For example, [onsite restaurant prices and onsite different activities.
I understand that Hale Koa’s mission is to provide affordable lodging to service members and their families. However, I was surprised to find that this benefit didn’t align with what I expected. Could you please clarify your pricing policy or let me know if there are other discounts or benefits I may have overlooked?
Thank you for your time and for providing a space that honors military service. I look forward to hearing from you.
Mr. Smith

December 19, 2024 (Thursday night) update- the senior lady who checked me in this evening around 7:45 - 7:50 pm was very rude at the counter! She had no type of customer service skills at all! I just received a very bad vibe! She was not welcoming at all! This is how you greet a retired veteran! Very disappointed! But I’m not going to let her bad attitude ruin my time! At least the BX personnel were nice and helpful!

Amazing location and grounds. Rooms, food, services are what you would expect from a Government run hotel.

Lovely spot to end our Hawaiian trip. Rooms were comfy and clean. Multiple good food options and great deals at the BX. Didn’t stay long enough to enjoy the other amenities. Great beach access
Rooms: Typical hotel room - clean and comfortable. No issues with noise. (If you’re someone who cares about the free toiletries - good coffee with the in room machine. 2:1 shampoo conditioner)
Nearby activities: All the tourist stuff available right nearby. Also located right on the beach. Army museum on grounds if you’re interested
Walkability: Less than a mile walk down to the heart of Waikiki shops and the international marketplace, with shops and restaurants along the way. Not surprisingly they take good care of their guests with low mobility making sure that everything is easy access
Food and drinks: Tasty French dip at the happy hour cafe. We don’t drink but the drinks at the beach bar were cheap and looked delicious

They need to learn to be tactful in dealing with their patrons and use more common sense.

The rooms are okay. Clean, on the smaller side but okay! We got around fine even with a crib in the room. The view from the balcony was breathtaking.
The service was great. Turn down was done well. We asked for extra trashbags since our baby is still in diapers and they were more than accommodating. We were on the 11th floor facing away from the Hilton.

We enjoyed everything about the hotel; service, staff and amenities!
Safety: We felt very comfortable and safe on the hotel grounds and the local area.
Walkability: We walked to and back from the 10K road race, restaurants and other activities in the area.
Food and drinks: Food and drinks were reasonably priced, excellent quality and very tasty.
Noteworthy details: The Bell Desk was very knowledgeable and helpful! Also, we really enjoyed all the greenery.

I’m a hotel snob, very particular. Hale Koa left me with zero complaints. We arrived in Honolulu during rush hour traffic, and were not feeling relaxed by the time we parked. But once we entered and explored the property we thought, “this is what we had in mind”. The kids and adults had a great time at the beach, pool, strip and food choices. Hiltons Hawaiian village is a 1 minute beach walk away for shopping choices. The strip is maybe a 10 minute walk. Highly recommended for those qualified to stay. Also, if you have time, take a quick flight to see a less built up island, we did Hawaii, we were not disappointed to burn a day there. Also, a drive around the less inhabited parts of the island gave us some beautiful photos. Enjoy!

Beautiful hotel. We had a wonderful view from our room. The gardens were beautiful. Attended the luau and it was fun. The breakfast buffet is worth the money. Enjoyed shopping the exchange. Nice souvenirs at a great price. Highly recommend for all who qualify to stay there.

Incredible facility and staff with the best location. The only place we stay when in Honolulu.
Food and drinks: Delicious food and the best burger in Honolulu. Rowena was our server and she was very kind and attentive. We highly recommend Bibas.
