Great place and selection for finding your new friend. Knowledgeable staff who are very friendly. I live in honolulu but can't find a better store then Koolau Pets in Windward Mall. Thanks

We told Matt about a fish that died (that we'd bought from the store less than two weeks prior) and he immediately gave us a replacement and advice on what to do differently. So far, the fish is doing very well. This is a clean, well-lit store that has a great selection of products and a knowledgeable, friendly staff!

Came in to get a puppy for Christmas. When talking to the staff they were super happy to give me all information on the Cocker Spaniel mix I was interested in getting, and let me hold her and spend as much time with her before taking her home. I was able to take her home two days later after her vet appointment. They made sure she was healthy enough to come home, and gave me the record from her vet appointment. Her first visit I took her to upon bringing her home was fully covered, as well as a package of the food she's been eating and a potty pad for the car ride home. Margo is a very healthy, happy and energized puppy who is amazing around people and other animals! Can tell they treated her extremely well there!

The owner just approached me and said my dog peed in the back yesterday and we're not allowed in. We NEVER go to the back. He kept LIEING, OVER AND OVER. Low T beta Male. Shaking as he called for security.

Really sad to see dogs in small boxes like I did there.

A horrific pet store, where the puppies are in small glass cages. This should be illegal

I was walking around the mall and I walked in to see the animals. This was on September 2nd. I left and I can't stop thinking of all the horrible things that I saw. It was so dirty there. The rabbit cage had cockroaches all in it. They were in between the cages but they also were in the rabbit's cage. The rabbit's water bowl looked like it hadn't been cleaned out because there was a dead bug floating in it. I came into the store like an hour after it opened so its not like it was at the end of the day. The cages near that cage were empty but not cleaned out at all so im sure this even attracts the cockroaches. There was a guinea pig in a cage with absolutely nothing in it but one bowl of water. No little house nothing. It looked so sad and scared. It was all so pitiful. One of the fish tanks in the back had the water moving so fast in it that the fish were getting hit with the artificial plants that are in the tank. The employees were just standing around. One guy was like honestly so lost you could tell he didn't even know what to do so he just would be standing in one spot moving a box like 2 inches for no reason. One puppy wanted to play so bad and he was crying the whole time in the cage because he didn't want to be in there. I doubt they even get exercise or played with the puppy. He had so much energy.

Walked in here while shopping at the mall, was shocked by how horrible the living conditions for the animals are in there. Every cage just had shredded newspaper with nothing else, puppies were crammed together in the boxes, same with the other animals. There was a dead fish in the Koi tub. Every single creature in there seemed depressed, I have never been in a pet store where the animals were acting in such a way. Adopt don’t shop all the way, do not support this business.

terrible place Animals are all very depressed looking in tiny cages with newspaper. Saw a dead fish floating in one of the tanks. If you want a pet get it somewhere morally better, and with healthier animals. There are plenty of dogs and fish for sale from people with puppy's or other sources. Overall garbage place hope it goes bankrupt

I'm home visiting- I don't live here anymore. Me and my friend went to the mall to kill time. I couldn't believe this pet store still exists. Why? Because shelters are full of unwanted dogs. Young puppies should be with their moms until at least 14 weeks. Not 8 weeks all alone without their mom. ASPCA estimates 390,000 dogs are euthanized each year in shelters across the 50 states. Sad and lonely unsocialized puppies in plexiglass boxes with dirty bowls & no water. Filthy store. Miserable animals. This place supports puppy mills to breed dogs to death so humans can get rich. I couldn't even look at the other animals I felt so sick. Read up on puppy mills and backyard breeders. It's a horrible industry and I'm shocked this pet store endorses them. Adopt from a shelter. Research reputable & responsible breeders. Not mills. I fostered 2 Persian Cats- both "retired" breeders from a cat mill. Dumped at the shelter because they got to old to have litters. The girl was 4 lbs & the boy 5 lbs. Sick beyond words. They had lived in wire cages and were forced to breed for 8 years. They had never been on a cat bed, had a blanket, a cat tree or had affection shown to them. They were matted, dirty and extremely underweight. Their kittens sold for $2100.00 a piece. Sick cat's breeding sick kittens. That's the game of pet mills. Puppy, cat, bird, etc doesn't matter, breeding sick animals to make money. The Persians are both healthy and happy now. Please, Please consider the suffering of the animals that breed for the litters of puppies you see here and do not purchase animals from this or any other pet stores or CL unless it's an shelter adoption event like the ones PetCo does.

I’m sure this place is really awesome but I showed up two minutes after they closed (which is on me, but their website said they close at 9 so i figured I would be fine) I knocked on the door and the lady wouldn’t even give me the time of day and said she wouldn’t let me in, which I get but at the same time she and her coworker were in such a hurry to leave I guess. Then I proceeded to call the phone number and they answered and I asked if they had the item I needed which was kind of important, some milk replacement formula for some abandoned kittens we found yesterday, the lady then said yes and I told her I was here and she said oh sorry we are closed. Maybe just bad timing on things but I just assumed that people that work at pet stores love and care about animals, not enough I guess :/ sorry guys hate to leave a bad review but was pretty disappointed in that!

Their fish selection was pretty good and so are their prices. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable I just really wish they didn't sell teeny tiny plastic containers as suitable betta habitats. ?

Came there to purchase opae amongst other things and met a very nice young man that was more than helpful knowledgeable kind and patient. They even helped us to our car to unload our supplies. We learned that this is a family owned business and we love to support local. Mahalo!
